This was a birthday celebration, we had made reservations for 7:30. That evening a special was a meat lasagne however, it was no longer available, which disappointed four of our group of 8. For as busy as it was that evening it seemed a little odd to be out of the special by that time. Three of us had their "Osso Bucco" For one of us it was just medium, I thought it was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. The last person, the bone was stone cold as was the meat. Unfortunately, there was an emergency in the kitchen and something happened in defrosting the shank. The meal was removed form the bill, and as I said for the hotel, service was never a problem with our experience at Colby Jack's or the Carlton. Two others had the chicken and one said it was good, the other that it was dry. As noted in the Carlton Hotel review, there is a full fledged bakery on site. We were able to get a cake and the restuarant kept it for us until dinner. One advise I would give is to make sure that all help is better appraised of offerings of the hotel and area. Prior to heading off to the wineries, we met in the lounge area (very nice with great seating) and waited until everyone was checked in. (There is only a beer and wine license so no hard liquor). One member ordered a mimosa for $5. She ordered a second and at that time was told for $7 she could have bottomless. Feeling she should have been told that at the beginning, the manager noted that the young lady was new, and he did offer the bottomless to our friend for all day rather then until she left. We had also asked at that time if the lounge had music or if there was a place in town to go, and the waitstaff on duty at that time could not tell us if they did have music that night or where to go to find some.
The cake was very good!
