What's not to like about this Holiday Inn Express in Atascadero? It has easy access to the freeway, nice rooms (we were in a suite for 2 nights), good breakfast options, decent prices, workout rooms, free wi-fi, the list goes on. This place us 100+ excellent reviews for a reason.
We stayed here as a launching point to visit Carrizo Plain National Monument. It's 1.5 hours away but this is still the closest nice place to stay. Plus, the 1.5 hour drive through the rolling hills is quite pretty and passes very quickly.
My complaints are small:
- Be aware that this a hotel with doors that make noise when they close, people talking in the hallways, etc. So, some noise is to be expected. We take a white noise maker with us and drown out any potential noisy neighbors.
- The eggs were over-cooked, but they were sitting in a metal tray under a warmer for who knows how long. But, they had tons of other food options to make up for it.
This is the only place we will stay when we return to this area.More
