“Wonderful Gyros”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2012 via mobile

A vey nice cafe in old downtown Arroyo Grande thar serves a wonderful assortment of Mediterranean food and gyros that are delicious. Very nice patio area to enjoy your food and probably the best baklava I've had in years. Will definitely return to this cafe even though it's a 20 mile drive one way, it's that good!

A fantastic new place in the village for fresh Mediterranean food. Very nice owners and I highly recommend the falafel.

“The "new" Jaffa Cafe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2012

We always enjoy going to The Old Jaffa Cafe but their sister place opened up recently in Arroyo Grande on Branch Street. What a great location with several tables outside so we could enjoy the wonderful weather! The food was wonderful..the best falafel since our last visit to Israel. Husband had Gyros and was a happy camper. The lunch was topped off with a compliment pc of baklava..all home made. (they have vegetarian soups)

“Fantastic place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 20, 2012

Jaffa Cafe in Arroyo Grande is the sister store to the older Jaffa Caffe in San Luis Obispo. Ali and his wife Wendy are the owners and they are friendly, helpful, and generally nice people to be around. This cafe is new and has a nice, pleasant atmosphere. There is seating inside and outside on the front patio. To order you simply fill out a menu card and drop it in the box on the counter and they will call your name when your food is ready. To pay you take your card to the register after the meal.

You won't find better middle eastern food in this area. Those familiar with authentic shwarma and falafel may be a little disappointed; you simply don't get all the extras (the pickled cabbages, for example) that you see in actual middle eastern countries or even in big US cities. That may be a supply issue since Arroyo Grande is rather small. However, what they do have is excellent. They make a yellow rice from a recipe handed down from Ali's grandmother who was from Jerusalem. Having lived there myself for a number of years I can attest that it is quite authentic.

There are normally a couple of soups available, and though most people come for the wraps the soups are very good and worth a try. The hummous and pity are especially good. If you are a first time visitor mention it to Ali and you will likely receive a free baklava.

The location is excellent as the cafe is located right on the main street in historic Arroyo Grande Village.

Visit Jaffa Cafe; if you are a local you will almost certainly become a regular.
