My husband and I were actually scheduled to be in Yosemite for the first portion of our honeymoon but with the government shutdown, we found ourselves with nowhere to go. We called a few places that may be able to help us and after speaking to Wendi at the Black Bear Inn, our decision was made. She was so warm and helpful over the phone that we got in the car and headed to Arnold, CA.
When we arrived at the Inn, we were pleasantly surprised. This place was beautiful! The grounds were gorgeous, the house was lovely and warm and romantic, and our room was just perfect! It was more than we could have asked for! We were met by Wendi and after she showed us around, we had wine and cheese and just relaxed.
Then breakfast the next morning was made by Bruce and it was simply the most amazing breakfast we could have asked for. Without knowing what my husband and I ate or preferred or anything, Bruce cooked up the most delicious omelet, chicken sausage, and fruit plate that looked right out of a Food Network show. We both loved it! Second day was just as wonderful.
And both Bruce and Wendi helped us to plan our stay in Arnold, which was nice. They had great knowledge of the area.
Overall, our stay set the perfect mood for our honeymoon. The rest of the time on our road trip, we just wanted to find another place like the Black Bear Inn, but to no avail. We'll definitely have to get back there soon!

The Black Bear Inn was hands down the best place we have ever stayed...Wendi and Bruce made us feel so welcomed. As we walked into the great room we noticed a chalk board sign and written on it was a "Happy Anniversary wish to my Partner and I, and welcome back to our friends that were traveling with us. The inn is a beautiful place...The rooms are so spacious and beautifully decorated. The food...let me start by saying My Partner and I are in the food service profession and this was the best! Each Breakfast was a culinary delight. Our last evening at the Black Bear Bruce prepared the best Anniversary Dinner we have ever enjoyed. On each of our plates was a menu and the picture at the top of the menu was of our little Bakery Cafe...The attention to detail was everywhere...We can not wait to return...

The Black Bear Inn was a great place to stay. The Inn keepers Wendy & Bruce are friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was a real culinary delight.
no other place that compares in Nevada.
My husband and I enjoyed the hot tub after our 5 mile hike at Calaveras state park.

We just wanted to see fall colors along Highway 4 and decided to stop in Arnold and also check out Calaveras Big Tree State Park. Looking for a place to stay we found the Black Bear Inn and what surprise... As you enter you are just in love with this place , from the architecture to the decor , to the room and the food. We would highly recommend this place for a great time.

Room Tip: We stayed in "Monterey " and it was perfect.

After being disappointed at closure of Yosemite, we searched for a near by location in the Sierras to enjoy a couple days of hiking. Discovering Arnold, and especially the Black Bear Inn was a truly fortunate event. Our two nights enjoying Wendi and Bruce as hosts was wonderful. The room we had was huge, the comfy big king size bed, the cozy seating area and the super size bathroom was more than luxurious. The afternoon wine and cheese was always delicious and introduced us to one of the local wines. The breakfast was like a page from Gourmet! What a super way to celebrate my husbands birthday!!

Room Tip: Our room is called "Calaveras" and seems to be the biggest. It looks out into the forest and has a lovely patio. There was absolute quiet!
