we spent an amazing week at mountain retreat and can't wait to go back. this was our first time visiting this beautiful property and the cabin was as beautiful as its surroundings. the staff was amazing and the club house is awesome fun. i have been timesharing for almost all my life and this was possibly the best vacations e ever had.

Room Tip: we only stayed in unit 28 and it was awesome.

Green Features: this place has good practices in regards to the environment. these are all explained up front and are very "guest friendly". this includes the way they handle trash, recycling and cleaning the rooms/towel exchange.

My husband and I were celebrating our 45th anniversary and invited family up from the Oakley and Concord area of California. I seemed a shame to not allow others to join us since it was so close to home (2-3 hours). It was very comfortable. The full kitchen and outside decks (3) were very nice with chairs. We had some dinners with 6 comfortably in one of the smaller units that had a Jack n Jill bathroom downstairs which seemed adequate. We did require a space heater to warm the bedrooms before bath and bed. The beds were super comfy. I will return again. Next time I won't forget my swimsuit as the indoor pool looked very inviting and even had a lift.

Room Tip: Ask for a floor plan from the resort in advance.

My wife and I had a week to use or lose, and we'd heard good things about the Mountain Retreat in Arnold, about two hours from home, so we decided to grab it. We stayed Monday to Saturday in very comfortable 2 story condo backing up to a creek. It snowed the weekend before we arrived and we were pleased to find a warm and comfortable place to rest and a warm comfortable bed. Friends came up for a few days mid-week and reported the single beds in the second bedroom very comfortable. Like other reviewers, we found it well stocked, great internet access, convenient parking and room access, and in the lounge, a top of the line pool table.

Outside, the roads were a bit icy in the mornings, so 4-wheel drive was good to have. Golfing was clearly out of the picture (there is a well known but snow-covered golf course right across the street), so we went snowshoeing in Big Trees State Park. The main trail is well marked with plenty of rest stops and about the trees/location. The Overlook loop is more of a hike (up and down), but we found it well worth the effort.

Arnold is a neat little town, and we especially liked the food at the Snowshoe Brewery. And the beer is quite good as well. We also made use of the large grocery store about 15 minutes away.

The Sierra's are beautiful and fresh. The Staff at Mt Retreat were so friendly and helpful, always asking if our unit was satisfactory and ready to make our stay enjoyable. The new clubhouse is very up to date, with new pool, workout room, and great lounge area upstairs. They also had computers and printer to stay current on all our wifi needs. We enjoyed are time in Murphys at the Ironstone Winery and our lunch at the Grounds in the quaint town of Murphys. Also included was golfing at Sequoia Woods Country Club and Forest Meadows. Dinner at Carcusso's in Angels Camp was fantastic. This is a great resort with plenty of activities for both adults and children, and also a great place just to relax, unwind and get away from the rat race!!

This was our first time at this resort and the wife and I truely enjoyed our stay. Very quiet and relaxing being in the mountains with that wonderful evergreen pine smell in the air. Our unit was clean and well stocked with a big king size comfy bed in the master bedroom. Arnold and Murphy's were nice little towns with some good restaurants. We loved Bristol's for breakfast, they make some good pancakes and omlets. The Calaveras Big Trees State Park with their huge sequois trees are something everone should experience - those trees are awesome. We crossed over the mountains and made a day trip to Lake Tahoe. Some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen - have your camera ready!

As you can tell, we really enjoyed our week at Mountain Retreat and hope to return some day.

This is a beautiful place in the mountains. The units are awesome & well kept up. The clubhouse is brand new & amazing: pool, pool table, exercise room, pancake breakfasts, ice cream socials, movie night, etc. Staff is amazing, informative & friendly. There are great shops in Murphys. The Outhouse in Arnold is a gift shop extraordinaire. Serafina's restaurant is the best Italian in California & we're not kidding. The scenery is awesome. The golf course across the street is great as is their restaurant. Near Calaveras Big Trees. Near Mt. Reba for winter sports. One of our very favorite all time places.

Room Tip: All units are great!! #20 has a great view. #25 is great also but they are all wonderful.

We have been traveling up here for over 20 years. We inherited two weeks from my parents. We come in the fall and spring. So relaxing, very quiet and the scenery is beautiful. The new clubhouse is terrific. Our grandkids ages 14 years to 10 months had a blast. They especially liked the new game room. We had meals at Giant Burger and Simply Delicious Cafe. Wonderful food, very nice people. Fished and hiked at the river below Dorrington. Golfed at the country club. This is a beautiful course to play, the greens are kept really nice.
