I have stayed at several Quality Inn locations.. This one used to be very nice (About a year ago). I recently stayed here and was dissapointed. The property and rooms were very neglected.

The hallways seem cold and damp and the cleanliness is lacking.

About the room itself.
Lamp shades stained and look unkept. The cords from 2 of the lamps in the rook not even plugged in. The lamp over the desk not working at all. One lamp missing a light bulb.

The breakfast. This was OK for the type of hotel & price but not as good as other Quality Inns I stayed at before.

Overall the price / value was good. (Not Great, but Good)

The front desk staff was very good, but if you have animal allergies, etc be warned that they have a cat that wanders around in the lobby. Very nice cat however.

This hotel was comfortable for our over night stay in Arcata. We found the front desk staff to be nice and informative about local places for dinner. There's a Mexican restaruant next door but they were closed for the Christmas holiday. The hotel offers a breakfast which had ham, sausage, waffles, but we choose to eat at Toni's right down the road. The Quality Inn was very comfortable, except for the little square pillows. Another guest said to bring your own pillow - I wish I would have done that. Another quest posted their room was dirty, staff was rude. We didn't find any of that to be the case during our recent stay. We will stay here again on our next trip to Arcata which will be next week.

Room Tip: We had two rooms. One room had a comfortable recliner, small fridge and micro. The other room did...

Looking for an overnight lodging on our way from Eugene to Bay Area, I had just enough ChoicePrivileges points for a free night at a few places in Crescent City, Arcata and Eureka. Checking TA reviews I rejected several that were in the cities right on 101 and got awful reviews (including even a few that wanted more points than I had!). I liked the idea that this Quality Inn was on the northern edge of town and off the highway. It was also close to a shopping center that had a restaurant we had been to before and liked (Kabob Cafe).
It's true, the hotel is showing some wear and tear, but the staff was welcoming and helpful, the beds were comfortable (although mrs. oregonpoppa thought the sheets were a bit rough) and the breakfast was sufficient (what we expected). Chatting at breakfast with a guy who had been stuck in the mud while rounding up horses the day before was an experience that made everything worthwhile.
This wouldn't be a destination selection, but is certainly a fine choice for an overnight stop on your way to an ultimate destination.

Room Tip: Rooms are in two separate wings with only a covered walkway connecting them to the main lobby and br...

The traveler can expect the consistent service and condition that Quality Inns offer throughout the United States. The staff was first rate, and rooms are nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is a nice way to start the day. The hotel has easy access to the major highways.

Room Tip: Choose an inner room and not one near the highway.

Our room was clean, if a bit tired, but what mattered most was that the bed was comfortable, the fridge was quiet, the air/heat worked well and was quiet, the window opened to let fresh air in in the morning, the staff was really nice (I think I met at least 6 different people working at the hotel in the three nights we were there including a maid). Some people complained about the cat in the lobby - I found the cat low key and sweet. The breakfast was the regular fare (waffles, toast, yogurt, fruit, juices, cereals, coffee...). This is a pet friendly hotel. We have stayed here probably a dozen times in the last two years and only remember once being aware there was a dog in a room nearby. I like that there is an interior hallway and the fact that there is no security system on the outside doors doesn't bother me. It's not a high crime area and I feel completely safe at the hotel. If you're not in a rush, try Cafe Brio in a corner of the Arcata town square for Blue Bottle coffee and great pastries in the morning.

Room Tip: I always ask for a room away from the freeway and a room on a corner, if possible (less noise) - and...

this motel leaves a lot to be desired. The walls are thin and the plumbing is noisy. The highway noise is noticeable. They stock some unusual and uncomfortable small square pillows. The breakfast is average with a decent selection of hot and cold items for a budget hotel. The people at the front desk were nice. Based on feedback from others at the meeting I was attending, I would book the best western in arcata.

Nice motel, have stayed here in the past & always find it clean and with a good breakfast. A nice pool if you choose to swim. They do allow dogs in certain rooms. Good area across from motel to walk dogs, which is a plus. Quiet area, no freeway noise.

Room Tip: This motel has two levels. If you don't like stairs, you might want to request a ground floor...
