As other reviewers have mentioned, this place is great for pets. They only charge $20 for the total stay. There are a couple of picnic tables and grills in the grassy area so we were able to picnic and not have to leave our dog in the car while we ate. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. We had a room with two queens and it was quite roomy for three people. The cookies in the lobby in the evening were much appreciated after a long day. Plenty of good tea at coffee available all day. Very nice breakfast and it was kept well stocked. Eating area was a little small especially when groups came in. They started breakfast a 6:00 a.m. which is nice when you have to hit the road early. We had originally planned to stay in Eureka, but the hotels we checked either didn't take pets, had no place to walk them or charged an exorbitant fee so we looked in Arcata and after seeing Eureka , we were very glad we stayed in Arcata. Saw lots of homeless near the motels in Eureka. Arcata Best Western had easy access to Hwy 101 for trips up and down the coast. There was a grocery story across the street as well as several places to eat (nothing fancy, but you won't go hungry).

An older place but the rooms are clean, up to date, nice beds, all the comforts you could need. Good value for this area. Staff was very friendly. I didn't use the pool or spa but they looked inviting. Location is handy for food/grocery and access to 101.

My wife and I stayed here for one night. Normally, we avoid motels with exterior corridors. But when traveling with a dog one has to make some sacrifices now and then. The room had two queen beds, a microwave and small refrigerator. We were on the second floor. We used the indoor/outdoor pool and hot tub and both were refreshing. The breakfast was a typical continental with waffles, assorted breads, cereals, juice and coffee. There is a grocery store across the street and a couple of fast food restaurants as well. Overall, the stay was good. If we did not have our dog with us we might have considered other choices nearby.

We book the room through AAA and requested a non-smoking room. The rude desk clerk told us that was only a request and did not have to be honored. He also said if we did not stay he would charge us a penalty eventhough it was before 6:00 PM. The room stinks like smoke and we are having to leave the windows wide open and listen to the motorcycle noise and dogs barking next door. Don't book this Best Western under any circumstances.
