Embassy Suites by Hilton Arcadia Pasadena Area
Ranked #3 of 8 Hotels in Arcadia
Reviewed December 28, 2012

I sure wish Trip Advisor would let you rate hotels with 1/2 stars. This Embassy isn't quite a four star but is a shade above a three star property. Regrettably, I had stayed at the Embassy Suites in Brea night before (see review), and it was a definite four star property and this one pales by comparison.

To be fair, after reading all of the reviews online I actually went to the Residence Inn down the street first, but they couldn't offer me my corporate rate. I also considered the Hilton Garden Inn across the street which appeared to be brand new and very empty.

But in the end I checked into the Embassy. Why? Because I like the space it provides with a separate living room to do work which I needed to do. And despite all of the negative reviews I found the room perfectly acceptable. It was clean. The furnishings were okay, nothing fancy and the bed was a little soft. But there is a separate vanity area besides the one in the bathroom which is a nice touch. The breakfast and free drinks while standard were nothing special but again acceptable.

Not being a Precor (fitness) fan, I am aware from previous visits that there is a 24 Hour Fitness two blocks away which I utilized. There is also a ton of restaurants within easy walking distance including The Derby (good steaks) and Soup Plantation down the block. Parking is free and the area is quiet.

The hotel is the old Hacienda style and has been there for a while. However, it was acceptable and for a one night stay I had no problems.

Cheers.

Marius

We stayed at this Embassy Suites during the summer, and had a wonderful stay! We were suppose to stay 3 nights, but just couldn't leave so we stayed another. Staff was wonderful, breakfast was awesome and staff amazing!

I have stayed at the Embassy Suites twice for business travel, I found that the hotel is a nice and comfortable place to stay for a longer trip. They have a good breakfast selection with mad to order omelets and pancakes a wide selection of other breakfast type food is also available. They also have a cocktail 2 hours if you are so inclined.

The hotel is a older property but well maintained the atrium is a nice place to relax with a pond and waterfall.

Room Tip: ask for a room away from the elevators on higher floors for a quite nights sleep

I travel 3-4 nights per week on business and stay at many different hotels, most of them Hilton properties. In general, Embassy Suites frustrate me because of their inconsistency - some are very good and some are not good. The Arcadia Embassy Suites falls into the less-than-good category. My impression is based on the following:
- The bathroom was tiny, uncomfortably small. To use the toilet involves getting up close and personal with the shower curtain.
- I checked in at 3 pm, and had to stand around for 10 minutes waiting to find out if my room was ready.
- At 8 am this morning, the housekeeper knocked on my door. I said "Please come back later," and repeated that a couple of times more as she tried to get my door unlocked. Finally I had to use a less pleasant statement to finally get her to stop. My feeling is housekeeping should not be trying to start cleaning rooms at 8 am.
- The "cleaning" of my room yesterday consisted of roughly pulling the bottom sheet toward the top of the bed and fresh towels. Pillows were askew and the bedspread was still on the floor.
- The shower was an adventure of alternating cold and scalding water. When I got to my room the TV was not working because it was unplugged. The cable service was poor and unreliable.
- The HVAC system was awful. Apparently, their system can cool or heat but not change from one to the other. In California in November, they had a hard time keeping pace with which was needed. My room got strong morning sun, so it was pretty stifling by 8 am or so.

Room Tip: Try the Hampton Inn in Arcadia instead.

Decorative iron, stucco, flowing water fall, and ceramic tiles adorn the lobby and courtyard. The old Spanish colonial period is alive at this Embassy suites in charming Acadia, California. Love the staff whom are helpful and offer outstanding service. The rooms are clean, too. A peaceful, tranquil feeling when returning from work and entering the building.

Room Tip: The Rose Bowl books a year in advance, make a reservation for fun in the Pasadena area. Wonderful to...

All the rooms of this hotel face inward to the enclosed atrium's trees, waterfall, and Koi pond. There are actually windows with curtains in from the living room inward toward the atrium. The building is not very new, but they've done a reasonable job of keeping the decor up-to-date. The furniture comfortable and new, and the decor is soft and warm. The surfaces are clean, although some of the fixtures are dated. I'd like to see new door hardware and faucets, for example.

The office desk and chair are in the outer sitting room, as they should be. There are plentiful outlets for charging devices here and next to the bed. The wireless Internet could use some improvement in coverage - it worked fine in the sitting room but not so well in the bedroom.

Breakfast is very good, with a full continental spread as well as an omelet bar, pancakes, potatoes and bacon made to order. There is also an evening reception on weekdays with complimentary snacks and drinks.

The location is very good with convenient access to freeways and many good restaurants within walking distance.

We stayed there for 3 days/2 nights at the end of August. One should not expect a fancy, bright hotel room. But, it was large, and pleasant. The breakfast was busy, but a good bargain. The location is not far from I-210 and connecting freeways; very convenient. It was acceptable, as long as you don't have high expectations.
