The Huntington Library is well known for its marvelous botanical gardens. Close by, maybe 25 minutes by surface, 15 by freeway is the stunning LA Arboretum. This is a lovely place with a Queen Anne cottage, stable, etc. There are peacocks strutting around making harsh sounds in contrast to their splendid plumage. A great place for kids, for singles to stroll, couples to enjoy a waterfall! The lunchroom is nuts and bolts, but has surprisingly fresh sandwiches. Nothing pretentious, but a nice snack bar.
