Well, Iv'e finally had a chance to stay in every room at the inn. We have family in the Aptos area and needed to get a room for a big family celebration, so we ended up at Sand Rock Farm. It's heaven! We haven't stayed with family since. All of the rooms are large with really comfortable beds. The decorum is very tasteful craftsmen style. The architecture and grounds are stunning. And the best, which I've saved for last, the food is"Oh my God!" good.
We've had the opprotunity to attend two of the wine maker dinners. We felt like we were living in the pages of Sunset magazine. The atmosphere, the wine, the wonderful people we met and the food were just amazing. The dinners were the best meal ever; course after course. Second best, is the breakfast that comes with every stay. Breakfast is always plenty to eat. All of the foods are prepared fresh with goods from local growers. I wish I could recall the names of some of the dishes, but if you stay there the inn keeper or chef will explain some the special sauces and processes.
My favorite room is the "Sun Porch Suite". It's huge with an attatched reading porch all it's own. The Coast is cool, so it's a great place to warm up with a book. My second favorite room is the giant suite up stairs(I can't remember names). I think it's the largest room. In addition to the large bed and sitting area, there's this jet tub that sits in it's own alcove. You can draw the cutains and melt away. All of the rooms are good.
Even though the inn is just off the road, it's one of the quietest inn we've stayed at(lot's of trees I guess). It's always warm and cozy after a day in the cool coast air. We've never over heated on the Northern California Coast, but on rare occassion it does get warm. Few, if any, shops, businesses, homes, or inns have air. Throw off the cudley down comforter, bring layers of clothes and open your lungs to the cool fresh air.
We now can't wait to visit family and get pampered somewhere out of the valley heat.
There's a huge variety of sites and activies in the area. You'll be right near the beaches and the coastal range. We love to find a resteraunt right on the water and enjoy some fresh fish and chips.
