“Excellent service, location, and amenities.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2011

The Red Lion is a great hotel that is very close to Disney. We recently stayed 7 nights and loved our experience here. The room was very basic, but clean and comfortable. We had a package with free breakfast and parking. The breakfast was great, had lots of options and exceeded our expectations. It took us about 10 minutes to walk to the parks with a 5 year old, so if anyone says the walk is too long, they are lazy. My wife ran in the fitness room every morning and loved the treadmill.

There were only 2 negatives about this hotel. The first is that there is no hot tub in the pool area. After a cool evening at Disney it would have been great to have a soak in a hot tub. The 2nd is that there are no rooms that can accomodate a large family. We were travelling with another family that had 4 kids and they had to stay at a different hotel because they could not fit into a room at the Red Lion.

Overall for the price we paid this was a great stay and should be ranked very high.

We booked our stay at the Red Lion through Priceline and although the price we paid was decent the overall experience at the hotel was hit and miss. The staff at the front desk was - for the most part - very friendly and helpful. We had brought our pet along with us being that this is a pet friendly hotel and found that the pet fee was very reasonable. We were given a room on the 1st floor in the south tower, and as another reviewer mentioned, the room initially looked clean until you inspected it closely. The coffee cups showed signs of use and that someone had simply wiped them down leaving crumbs or something like that still stuck to the inside of the cup. Gross! The ice bucket had rust stains down the side of it and the bed linens looked dingy, not dirty, just dingy. We didn't complain figuring that you get what you pay for...right? Anyhow, we went to the onsite grill to order some dinner and the server promptly offered to have it brought to our room....awesome...not! He called us about 30 minutes later to let us know we would need to go get the food ourselves. By then the food was cold, not to mention that the tray was heavy and to carry it from one side of the building to the other side was a nuisance. Although the bed was comfy, sleeping on the 1st floor with a room facing the street is not conducive to a good nights sleep. Not to mention that the noise from the neighbors flushing the toilet and the screaming kids running up and down the hall did not help. The room was not cleaned the following day and when we came back to the room later that evening and asked why, the front desk made no apologies but they did offer to bring by some more towels. We also asked them for some more coffee and creamer and some clean coffee cups. The front desk had some towels promptly brought to us, but forgot the coffee and cups. Our last day there we decided to try out the Roaring Breakfast Buffet and were pleasantly surprised by the attentive the waitress and the filling the breakfast. Check out was super easy, problem free. The pool and lounge area looked like they would be a fun place to hang out in when the weather is warmer. Oh, and the shuttle to Disneyland is literally around the corner...awesome! All in all, the hotel has some great high points but really needs to have their cleaning staff improve.

We took our first (just our) family trip to Disneyland last week and were so excited for our hotel stay, as we heard it would be a great hotel. The staff at the first hotel we stayed at was welcoming and went above and beyond to satisfy our needs. They called us as soon as we got in the room "just to check up". When my husband walked into the Red Lion to check in the lady was half awake and not very friendly. We were also a little concerned at the fact that there was a plate with mostly eaten food left out in the hall (two doors down) for three days. The room we actually stayed in was clean and kept up nicely though! We decided to "splurge" a little and do breakfast down in the restaurant one of the days and were very surprised at the employees lack of service. Our two year old son spilled his juice right as a waiter walked passed and he didn't offer any help. He then spilled his bowl of cereal all over the table and again, nobody helped. I actually had to go find somebody and ask for more napkins. I took the kids to our room while my husband waited for the bill...he waited for nearly 10 minutes before stopping a waitress and asking for his bill. She responded with, "Oh, sorry. I didn't write you up. Was your breakfast with your room?" and "How many people sat here?". We just felt a little unacknowledged during our stay there. It was nice to be able to stay close to the theme parks, but we will probably try to stay somewhere else next time.

This hotel has been nicely renovated but sadly our room desparately needed to meet up with some detailed housekeeping.
We arrived to a room that upon first impression looked good. BUT the impression was quicky effected when on the floor was the largest toe nail clippings!! Also, to accommodate an airmattress for one our daughters, we had to move the small luggage table under which one could see an obvious lack of vaccuuming. Each of the 4 mornings, we moved the airmattress hoping for the housekeeping staff to vaccuum the area but not once did it get cleaned.
Housekeeping was pretty poor at wiping surfaces as well. It's unfortunate as the new furnishings will soon look tired at this rate. Food trays left in hallways for way too long.
For the most part we had good sleeps. Beds and bedding comfortable but foam chip pillows need to go!!!

I am a very picky traveler. The REd Lion is definitely a winner. From the momment we arrived the staff went out of their way to make us feel special. The room decor was gorgeous. Restaurant delicious. This should be a 4 star hotel. Will definitely stay here again. Thx for the birthday cupcake the evening staff sent my little girl. She was sick and she thought this was awesome!

The room was so clean(the bed a little hard for my taste). The whole hotel was spotless and nice. The service was great. I was a little disappointed that there was only morning sun at the pool(but maybe that was the time of year.) I would stay again if coming to that area.

Staff made our stay great, very helpful. The property was very nice and modern, also very clean. Location made our trip to Disneyland very easy. Certainly would stay here again. Only downside, pool was a little cold, but lets not forget its January though the weather was like late Spring.
