The hotel is located within walking distance to Disneyland. I feel it had a good location because you didn't have to fight traffic to get in and out. It was an excellent location for fireworks. The front desk were also nice when we checked in. The rooms were clean but outdated. We did have a good location, we were near the elevator on the 6th floor and we could walk off and out the door of the hotel. It would have been nice to have complimentary breakfast. I also felt the hotel itself was very cramped. The water park area was cute, we never got there though. Overall it is a nice hotel, but it had no "WOW" factor to it.

I really like staying at the Howard Johnson's. Very good value when you consider the free parking and free internet. We had a great view of the Fireworks very night. Room had been cleaned every day when we returned for a rest.

Room Tip: We didn't use the Fitness center or room service so I can not rate them.

Hoawrd Johnson hotels have the reputation of being pretty below average but this property is the true exception.

We chose a deluxe room facing the park because we did not want to deal with the freeway noise that would be an issue in some of their other buildings. The room was very nice and the beds were so comfortable that we have bought the same mattress for our home.

The front desk personal were all pleasant and the checking process took mere minutes. The onside store is extremely well stocked and had all the necessary supplies we needed. If your kids don't want to spend all day at the park the hojo pool is the best around Disneyland.

The only negative we found was that often our room was not cleaned until late in the afternoon.

Room Tip: Best to choose a room that is not backing onto the freeway.

For several years I’ve been admiring the HoJo waterpark from the Monorail, but wanted to wait until a summer visit to try it out. Our August visit there was perfect both for the weather and the age of my granddaughter (5). The waterpark is best for kids under 8 or 9, I think. There is a big pool on the property but we never used it. Besides the waterpark, I can also say that the location is good (a short walk to the front gate, passing by a McDonalds which we stopped at for an inexpensive breakfast), and the beds are very comfortable – probably a pillowtop mattress.

The store had many items, though the first night I bought Top Ramen and then discovered that my room didn’t have a microwave (only a fridge).

Security is a bit of a concern as there are occasional vagrants in the area. We practically had to step over a man asleep on the sidewalk, right at the corner of Harbor Boulevard outside our hotel, a stone’s throw from the park. (Of course, this isn't the fault of the hotel!) Since I was on the second floor, I couldn’t leave a window open at night, which I prefer to do. The A/C and fan work but are LOUD. Speaking of loud, so are the Disneyland fireworks, because you are so close. So just don’t plan to sleep until afterwards! They go off at 9:30, or at least when we were there. What was awesome was hanging out in the hot tub and being able to see the fireworks.

Building 5 is closet to traffic noise, and if noise is a concern and you go to bed early, you also probably don’t want a room overlooking the waterpark. The slides close at 9, the rest of the waterpark area at 10. My granddaughter resented coming in at 9:30 when she could hear other children still out playing.

I loved the rooms with the high ceilings and skylights, but we were always up by eight, so light wasn’t a problem. I don’t think they really let that much light in anyway. As others have mentioned, the bathrooms are small, but were adequate for us.

The front desk staff was helpful and friendly, let us get into our stored bags several times, and gave us a pass to use the pool on our last day as the shuttle didn’t come until almost 6 pm.

The rate was actually more than I usually pay, and I usually book at a place with breakfast included, but being able to get to the park in 5 minutes without waiting for a bus was great, and my granddaughter loved the waterpark almost as much as Disneyland, so I’m sure we’ll be back, at least for warm weather visits.

We left our room and requested for housekeeping to clean our room and when we returned our luggages were open and clearly someone had gone through our belongings. When we reported this issue with the management, all they said that the housekeeping members have been there longer than him and said he would discuss this with the housekeeping manager and will get back to us the next day, BUT NEVER did.
