Stayed at the Howard Johnson or "HOJO" for 4 nights whilst visiting disneyland. Hotel is located about 15 mins walk to the disneyland entrance. Room was spacious (though in need of a facelift) and surprisingly quiet considering the Santa Ana freeway is at your doorstep. If you are travelling with young kids the splash park at the hojo will be a big hit. Reception staff were friendly and there are 2 computers there for your use and WIFI throughout the hotel. Some good restraunts within walking distance on the way to disney. There is a well stocked convenience store adjacent to the reception area for drinks snacks etc.

First off, don't let the outside fool you.. the rooms are very nice. I had premium room #1507 it was very roomy and having two sinks was great. We saw the fireworks every night perfect view. Although the pine tree obstructed our view from the smaller ones that were closer to the castle. Which I didn't care about. They booked our Hollywood tour and were able to answer any questions they we had. Pool is heated 80° but night are chilly. nice water play area with hot tub, separate from pool. The walk to entrance is 10min. Then another walk to security then another walk to gate. But just as close as the resort hotels without the $$$$. The gift shop is great for a quicky bfast or late night munchies. Everything from Mac n cheese several cereals pb n j and bagel, crackers chip fruit bars muffins and beer soda ect. Mimi's is across the street with awesome food (try the Jambalaya ) huge portions we reheated for another meal. Millie's has good breakfast too. Contact me for any questions @ shakeinit@yahoo.com

Stayed at Howard Johnson over 20 years ago and remembered how great it was. Definately more updated now, fantastic facilites, and so very close to Disneyland. Loved our stay. Very clean, great staff, and just an awesome place. Beds are amazing!

We had a standard double room. I had requested an upper floor facing the water park so I could be protected from the highway noise. We checked in around 7 pm and had to take the last room. Even then, they were able to accommodate the building four water park facing room, just not on an upper floor. I didn't have to worry.  Either the people upstairs were super quiet or the floors were solid. Never heard a peep from them. The window and patio door were very well sealed so even being right on top of the water park, it was much quieter than I had expected. I could hear the big water dump and occasional child laughing. But the slides shut down at 7:30 and the area closes at 10. Aside from the disneyland fireworks that lasted around 20 minutes and the car alarms they set off, there were no concerns for noise at bedtime. Room also had a keurig coffee maker. Ours came with regular diedrichs coffee, no decaf, with paper cups and lids for taking to the parks.  Room also had a small fridge.

Hotel was a nice short walk to the front gate of disneyland.  Mimi's cafe next door has some great homey food at good prices, even better when you get their coupons via signing up for their emails. Hotel staff were very hospitable. One front desk personnel lent my husband his personal cell phone charger because he didn't have his.

Avoid the gift shop if you can. Everything is seriously overpriced.

For such a central location (5 mins from the main gates) this is an amazing find for the price. We had a deluxe room which was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. Not only was it clean, but it was really well cleaned every day.

There is an adult swimming pool, open from 9am and a child's water splash area open from 10am.

Check in was efficient, with a couple of Macs and printers for guests to use. The staff were very friendly and informative, with maps to all the key tourist destinations. There was a shop, a little overpriced, but similar to its peers, and games room.

Only thing that could improve the place is breakfast included in the price, but Mimis across the road is excellent, and offers real food at fair prices.

great alternative to staying at Disney resort with their high rates, great value, great little water park feature for kids, walking distance to entrance, basically across the street from the Matterhorn, great spot to see fireworks from parking lot. Walking distance to several restaurants, the highway noise didn’t bother us which you are going to get from any of the hotels on Harbor Blvd next to Disney. We arrived early so room wasn’t ready; they gave us pool key so kids could hit the slide after being on the road. would have given 5 stars if our room had a microwave above the fridge, after peeking in a couple of neighboring rooms I noticed that some do and some don’t, if important you may want to ask for one.
will stay again.

We chose this hotel because my husband stayed there when he was a kid and had great memories of it and because it had good reviews. This hotel was perfectly located to the entrance to Disneyland. It was neat and tidy although our original room that we had been put into had not been cleaned. After a quick trip to the office we were given another room. Upon entering it was a nice sized room with own bathroom and large bed including a balcony. We were in the back building which was the closest to the freeway. if you are a light sleeper i would suggest asking for a room AWAY from the freeway as we heard the traffic all night which lead to some restless nights. Nonetheless we were stoked that we could get up and easily walk to the main attraction. Staff were helpful and courteous. There is a convenience store to stock up on goodies. If you have children there is a pool which looks entertaining. A few computers were available in reception for travellers needing to stay in touch or manage their travel. All in all we enjoyed our stay!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms that are the opposite side to the freeway - overlooking the pool would be ideal.
