We stayed in Tower 1 and had a view of the fireworks each night, albeit through the branches of a tree. The rooms were no frills but the staff was helpful and friendly. Great value. Mimi's was a great place to eat with reasonable prices and good food. The kids LOVED the waterpark on site. The in-house store stocked a little of everything. We will be back!

Room Tip: Be sure to call the hotel directly and not just rely on the Howard Johnson 1-800 number

Would stay here again. We were very impressed with all aspects. Had a lovely room overlooking the main pool. Complete with fridge and microwave which is great with kids.

Easy walking distance to Disneyland which was great for those mid afternoon breaks and swim before heading back again.

All in all a great experience.

The Howard Johnson Plaza was our first stop on a 4 week holiday to the USA. I had been worried about how things would work out after booking everything myself rather than using a travel agent. This was perfect. and so close to Disneyland which was only a short 5 minute walk away. The room which was shared by 2 adults and our 2 teenaged daughters was spacious with 2 x queen beds. There was a well stocked shop on site and numerous restaurants/cafes/chain fast food in close proximity. We ate at Mimi's, Captain Kidds and Tony Roma's and all our meals were delicious, huge and CHEAP! Even though are room was near a busy highway I really didn't hear the noise. Nice landscaping and the pool looked lovely, but it was a bit too cool ( about 18 -22 degrees celsius) for us to swim.

Our family of 3 stayed here for a short visit to Disneyland and the rooms were as described on the website and by many other reviewers. We stayed in a standard double room with 2 double beds having got a good price from the hotel website and using a discount code. The beds were very comfy, aircon worked, there was a coffee maker (we also used it to make tea), and a fridge. There was a good ensuite and the room was very clean.

The fun pool area is great if you have children (there is also another separate quieter pool) but for us the bonus was the short walk (8 mins) to the gates of Disney. We had a ground floor room in the lowset block behind the offices (forget the number sorry) which had a balcony but with no furniture to sit on-and though we didn't use it, it was nice to have openable doors. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was a good small mini-mart on site where you could buy simple breakfast supplies to tide you over. Mimi's is next door and we found it to serve good food at a great price. Our room was very quiet other than the first day when we were napping after a red eye pacific flight and the family in the room above us sounded like they let their kids jump off the beds given the repetitive loud thumps and heavy running feet to and fro for about 1 hour but the chance of a noisy family next door or above you can happen in any room! We would stay again and have already recommended the hotel to friends travelling later this year.

We stayed at the Howard Johnson for about 9 nights with the main reason of wanting to be within close walking vicinity to Disney Land. It really did not fail at all by saying it was close to Disney Land. It would take us approx 2mins walking distance and was great closeness for being able to leave Disney Land during the day and being able to walk back later. H.J had a great little kiosk that featured many goodies and daily grocery needs as well as cheap merchandise. We were in heaven with the amount of selection that was available being from NZ. We were very fortunate to have a room with 2 single beds and a queen, whilst still being very spacious. Our bathroom facilitie was pretty good and clean. The H.J receptionists were well educated and helpful with the many activities surrounding the hotel as well as our queries. The H.J had great pool facilities and was within less than a minute of walking distance to this great restaurant called mimi's which we visited quite frequently. There was also a McD's extremely close and other dining places as well as the downtown disney for eating. There was a small mall within walking distance which featured bubbagump. It was also good for tours where all the tour buses would pick you up and drop you off at the H.J. Overall Howard Johnson was deffiently a very great and memorable place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would without a thought stay there again!!!

This hotel absolutely made out trip at Disneyland perfect! Instead of feeling like we had to cram everything in, when the kids got tired (or we did) we just headed back to the hotel and relaxed by the pool while the kids played. We liked the little water park almost as much as Disney and CA adventure! It was just a couple blocks walk to the parks, so we didn't need to rent a car. There are also plenty of restaurants within the same distance.

As a bonus, the room came with a digital safe where we could set the code and leave our things while we were at Disney or the pool.

Only thing missing was a breakfast.

Room Tip: If you have young children you might want to ask for a room away from the fireworks since they go fr...

We recently stayed at the HoJo while visiting Disneyland on our 3 week USA trip.
After a long, tiring flight from Sydney, we arrived at the HoJo at 10.30 am to be greeted with those magical words "your room is ready". What a relief!! We were so grateful to be able to go straight into the room and lie down and rest, the feeling was amazing! It started our holiday off on a real positive note.
I liked the look of the landscaped gardens - it reminded me of hotels on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. I think other Aussies must like it too as we kept meeting many of them at the HoJo as the days went by.
Our room was in building one and I was apprehensive about this even before we left Australia, however I found the noise level to be acceptable. The curtains were thick and there was a sound proof door leading onto the balcony. These measures reduced the noise to such an extent that it was less noisy than our New York hotel on 49th st, where the curtains were flimsy and decorative rather than functional and let all the street noise in making it worse than the freeway outside HoJo!
I found building 1 to be very convenient - close to the lobby, the shop - which was the best little shop we encountered during our whole visit to the US. It had a wide variety of items for sale you would need while visiting another country.
The restrooms located in the corridor just outside our room were also useful since there were 5 of us and sometimes you needed the luxury of a second bathroom. And the laundry was located close by, in the basement, which was also very useful. The pools were not very far away either but I honestly spent more time in the shop than I did in the pool!
One thing I did not like when we did visit the pool was how guests would take many more than one towel each and just pile them onto lounges, reserving them. The first time we visited the pool there was not a single towel available! I noticed one lady who was supervising her two children - she was not swimming herself but she had a stack of 5 or 6 towels she was holding onto! Luckily after 10 mins or so a lady from housekeeping arrived with a fresh batch of towels, just when I was considering a trip to the lobby to ask for towels myself.
We visited Mimi's once for breakfast but opted for fresh fruit or McDonalds the other days as we found Mimi's too expensive an option. If the HoJo provided breakfast as well - it would be perfect!
We found the walk to Disney in the morning perfectly fine, although at the end of the day when you walk past the closer hotels you do gaze at them longingly. However, having visited Disneyland Park 5 years ago and having stayed at the Carousel, I would rate HoJo much more highly and well worth those extra few minutes walk.
If we ever return, the Hojo would be my first choice!
