The Comfort Inn & Suites Anaheim, Disneyland Resort
Ranked #55 of 118 Hotels in Anaheim
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed November 15, 2006

In researching Disneyland area hotels for our trip this year, I discovered that I did not post a review for where we stayed last year, The Comfort Inn & Suites Anaheim, Disneyland Resort. Overdue, but here it is. First things first: this hotel was fairly cheap. We got a rate of around $65/night for one king bed. Many other Disney area hotels were charging (and still do) twice that for similar accomodations, so it is a good value. The room was just fine--the bed was fine, the room was fairly spacious and had a mini-fridge, which is very handy. There was a pool and hot tub and the free breakfast is more then adequate--a selection of cereals, pastries, muffins, fruits and make-your-own waffles. If you have a room facing the parks, you can see some of the fireworks in the evening (but as a previous reviewer stated, do not pay extra for the view, the fireworks are quite a distance away and you only see partially). The cons? The location is not the greatest. Because the words "Disneyland Resort" are included in the hotel name, you may be led to believe that it is in walking distance to the parks. It really is not, especially after a long day in the parks, I could not imagine walking the 1 1/2 to 2 miles (or more) back to the hotel. They do not offer free shuttle service, but you can pay to take the shuttle. (The hotel itself is located right off the freeway, so a drive to the parks is just a few minutes). The location itself seemed dreary and perhaps unsafe? The neighborhood did not look too good. The other hotels give off a Disney-type vibe, the ones that are closer to the parks. This was did not at all. I wouldn't recommend for families--the distance from the parks is too far and it really isn't a family-friendly atmosphere. It is more suitable for adults or couples with a car. In review: Pros: cheap price, excellent free breakfast. Cons: not a good location or neighborhood. This is our third hotel in the Disneyland area--if you are going to Anaheim stictly to visit Disneyland, I recommend something closer to the parks, your feet will thank you at the end of the day!

Do not stay here. Public area Rugs disgusting, Wallpaper in hotel room peeling off, no stopper in the sink, shower head did not work. Upon check in guest next too me was lodging complaint. TV had terrible reception - could not watch it. This hotel charges top dollar and is not worth the money.

Our family of four just returned from a trip to Southern California. We stayed at this property for five nights. Ideally, we'd have preferred a property closer to Disneyland. However, for $63.20 plus taxes per night, and the fact that we had a rental car, we felt this worked out well. We had a room on the 5th floor facing the freeway. Freeway noise was never a problem. The room was larger than expected. It appeared the carpets and mattresses were recently replaced or in the process of being replaced. The air conditioning unit was one of the better we've had to deal with because we could actually set a comfortable temperature. No complaints about the housekeeping: our room was cleaned and the bathroom necessities (i.e., towels, soap, and shampoo) were replenished daily. There were also a mini refrigerator and microwave in the room, which came in handy. The Continental breakfast offered make-your-own waffles; a variety of cereals, breads, and fruits; and coffee, tea, milk, and orange and guava juices.

Disneyland is located about a mile left and on the side of Katella opposite of the property. Because of the median and the close proximity of the driveway to the intersection of Katella and Manchester Avenues, we got to Disneyland in a roundabout way. After making the right turn from the driveway onto Katella, we either drove up a couple of blocks and made a U-turn to go back in the direction of Disneyland, or we made a right onto Manchester and drove around aimlessly until we figured out where we were.

The front desk folks were not very friendly, although they were courteous, businesslike, and efficient for check-in and check-out. They also were not very helpful when we asked for directions to other places. Basically, the response was, "I don't know," and was left at that. The property does not have a coin-op laundromat, but there is one two or three doors down from the hotel that's open around 7a.m. to 9 p.m. (last load).

Overall, we were satisfied with our stay. We would consider staying at this property again, unless, of course, something better is available.

My family and I were very unhappy with the hotel, there was prostitution going on the
premises. Our first night there, prostitutes were making solicitations in front of my
sister's hotel room, the next morning my brother in law complained, the hotel moved
us to a upstairs room in the front. The next night there the prostitutes were going up
and down the stairs in the front of the hotel near our rooms again. No matter where
we moved this was going on. I have a 7 year old and he now knows what protitutes
and pimps are because of this. My brother in law complained again to the manager
that night. Nothing was done, he was told that they call the police but they don't show
up. I have reason to believe that this sort of thing goes on there all the time, and we
were the first to make a deal about it. I am just warning anyone with kids this may
not be a suitable hotel. The manager did not offer to refund any money or any
kind of restitution

The room smelled from the paint fumes, the floor under the newly laid carpet had a hole in it so large my kids had to jump over it to use the bathroom. The shower did not work, and we were given a key to use a different room to shower in at the other end of the building at 8am. The comfoters were filthy. If other hotels hadn't been booked, we would have never stayed! It was disgusting. The front desk staff were uncaring and rude! Never again if that's the kind of service that is considered acceptable!!!!!!!

We stayed here during Spring Break to go to Disneyland. While all the other motels were full this one had openings. It is about 1.3 miles to walk and that is long after a full day. The surrounding neighborhood is low income housing and quick marts, no Disneyland influence on that part of Katella Ave. It is convenient to I-5, the on ramp is right next to the motel. Get a room facing Disneyland if you can, you can see the fireworks at night but don't pay extra for it because they are far away. The other side is right next to the freeway. The shuttle takes you to the park entrance if you don't want to walk (with some stops on the way). The shuttle stop is on a busy street with no bench and the landscaping on that side of the building is non existent.
The room was just fine for the price. Pleasant and not dumpy at all.
The microwave "on" knob was broken and the bedside lamp was tricky to turn on tho. The room was quiet and sound didn't travel between rooms. They cleaned the room everyday and did a good job of it. The free breakfast is average, juice, coffee, cereal, store bought muffins, some fruit. I didn't like the cheap Styrofoam plates and flimsy plastic utensils to eat with. The lobby T.V. was on too loud in the morning blaring news that kids don't need to hear on vacation.
The staff was bland and they seemed a little withdrawn, but no one was rude. We had a good time but I would book early and find a place closer if you want to walk, and or want something special.

We decided to go to Knott's on the spur of the moment and booked this hotel the night before. Reservations in the area were hard to come by. This hotel is a bit of a drive, maybe 10-15 minutes, from Knott's. It is right by the freeway...so you can hear traffic in your room unless you run the a/c.

The hotel and rooms were reasonably clean and neat. The beds were pretty hard and the pillows were very, very, very thin. Our 4th floor window was one that opened and it was missing a screen. The bathroom sink was missing a drain stopper/strainer. The shower faucet was pretty sad. The TV was pretty sad too...terrible cable picture. Breakfast was the typical hotel fare. The staff was annoyingly lax in keeping tables clean.

All in all, if we could have found somewhere nicer, we would have. The Comfort Inn was a decent place to sleep, bathe and have a light breakfast.
