“Will probably stay somewhere else next time...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2011

Just got back from a 3 night stay and am sad to say that we were disappointed this time. We stayed here this same weekend last year, booked at the same great rate and loved it, which is why we didn't hesitate to book here again. Unfortunately though this time was different. Starting with check in...we were told there was nothing in the hotel left but handicapped rooms so that's what we got stuck with. I didn't like this room at all! The bathroom was huge (which left us with a pretty small room), which would have been nice except the handicapped accesible shower was awful...sooooo tiny! The detachable shower head didn't have hardly ANY pressure at all and it took forever to wash anything out of your hair with it...and it was hung in a very strange and awkward place on the wall...if you turned it to face in such a way that you didn't have to stand against the wall to get water, half of the bathroom floor ended up soaked...and it even leaked onto the carpet in the room. We used most of the towels each day just wiping up the floor after a shower. Also, because it was a handicapped room, the closet clothes rod was lowered...but it was barely right above the safe, so you really could only hang anything in the small space left on the side of the safe. Speaking of the safe, it didn't work. It's an electronic one and I could never get it to come on or do anything, so completely useless...I didn't have any trouble at all with the one in the other room we stayed in last year so it's not that I couldn't figure it out. We just had to lock up valuables in our suitcase and hope for the best. As far as housekeeping, the sheets on our bed were never really "made"...they were just draped on the bed, not tucked in...not even the bottom sheet...so we had to do that each night to keep them from crumpling up underneath us. We also found a pair of jeans behind the sitting chair in the room so I guess that area never gets cleaned?? Also, the floor lamp had a lightbulb burned out, and the AC was pretty noisy in our room too. These may all sound like small things, and I agree that if it were just one of them I probably would have overlooked it, but so many in one stay just leaves a bad impression. We're coming back to Ananheim in January and will most likey start looking at other hotels to stay at this time.

Made & paid for reservations 6 months before stay. They called us the day before to cancelle. We wanted to stay there because it's next to the convention center, not 5 mins away at a different hotel. ( I have a bad knee). They did get us 3 nights but then we had to move for our last day. They wanted us to walk there with 6 pieces of luggage, I use a cane! Got them to pay for a cab.
It messed up our last day in Anaheim. We were planning to go to Disneyland, not change hotels.
Complaints were not handled well. We got the feeling they weren't or didn't want to help us.
Haven't gotten refund the said we get or an email back from corporate. We did get an email from corporate saying our complaint would be answer within 72 hours, not counting weekends. (We would be home by then).
We are Hilton Honors members too.

Really close to Disney. You can walk to the one lot up the road if you wish but there is a nicely priced convenient shuttle. Definitely do not pay to park at Disney if you're staying here. Hotel is nice. The pool is clean and has 2 hot tubs and a playground thing for the kids. Also a.nice pool side bar. Definitely would stay again.

We're currently staying in the hotel. The rooms could use some TLC but the beds, bedding and bathroom amenities are great. The staff and service are fantastic...among the best I've experienced, and I travel quite a bit. The food in Mix restaurant is really good. One downside is no free wifi, even for HHonors members, and the worst is that although there is a kids pool area, some parents with small children and children in diapers actually take them into the main pool. Twice now (two separate days) the pool closed for a few hours because a child did something nasty in the pool. Nice area to Lounge at but don't go in the water. The walk to Disneyland is about 15 minutes or you can take a shuttle. There is a nice selection of restaurants at GardenWalk about a 10 minute walk away. Become an HHonors member...it's free and will save you time checking in because the lineups for non-members can be long. Get the Disneyview room. We've got a Disneyview Lanai on the 5th floor and it's nice to sit outside with a glass of wine and watch the fireworks. 5th floor rooms also have best access to pool and lounge areas.

We recently stayed at the Hilton Anaheim (wife and teenage daughter). We were pleased with the staff and condition of the facilities.

The pool area was nice, although the pool was a bit small for the number of people using it (still a better option than most of the smaller motel pools nearby). Surprisingly it was pretty busy so if you're planning on a "pool day", you might want to be there early. In addition to the pool there is a bar that serves food and drinks, and a kids water play area.

The lobby is spacious with restaurants, hotel store, and Starbucks onsite.

There were a few negatives to this location to be aware of:
1) You must pay for valet or onsite parking. No real way to getting around this as far as I could tell.
2) Internet is not free, and the Starbucks didn't offer a wifi hotspot either.
3) The next two are strange but things to know...not sure if it was just our room, but every time we turned on the bathroom sink water would bounce out of the basin and get on us. If you're VERY careful you'll be fine.
4) Because of the design of the sliding bathroom door if you hold onto the handle when it is closing, it pinches your fingers. This happened to all 3 of us, and my wife got pinched pretty bad.

Regarding 3&4, we mentioned this in our feedback of the hotel and a manager contacted me by phone & email to check on my wife and daughter. I thought this was very nice. I was told that they were going to check the room out (never heard back, but from what I could tell it was more of a design flaw than anything...just something to be aware of!)

Hilton Anaheim is a big hotel, often used by people who attend conferences etc. But, it is very suitable for families as well. It's conveniently located very close to Disneyland-- walking distance, actually, but transport is also available. We stayed 5 nights there in June and thought it was very pleasant. There is a small pool area, too, which tends to be crowded in the evenings but ok in the morning and during the day. There is a food court on lobby level, you get burgers, pizza, pasta, mexican, sandwiches and salads. Very handy if you're traveling with kids and, as we were, jetlagged! Be sure to take a room with Disney view in one of the upper floors-- you don't realize the fun during the day, as the view is mainly to the parking lot BUT there are fireworks at Disnyland every night and this way you can enjoy them from your room !!
There is buffet or a la carte breakfast available, we had it once. Many choices-- but fairly expensive all in all. There are many restaurants close by that serve breakfast at a lower cost. Such as I-HOP and Denny's.
Staff was friendly and rooms were clean. Nothing fancy but quite okay.

Room Tip: Upper floor, Disney view-- this way you see the fireworks in the evening. It's worth it!

Dear Travelerfamily3-

Thank you so much for reviewing our hotel on this site!

From your review, it sounds like we were able to meet your needs and for that, we want to say, Thank you for giving us the opportunity! We’re glad you go to check out our breakfast buffet and newly renovated pool area! Not to mention, the food court which we find to be such a convenient life saver for a lot of guests that are on the run and rather have a budget friendly option!

We certainly hope we get to see you again and who knows, maybe we'll have more surprises waiting for you!!

I stayed here overnight for a site visit. I am looking forward to staying here again in December when I come back for my organization's conference. My room was very spacious - it was a king bed studio suite. It had a nice seating area (couch, two chairs, coffee table) and a kitchenette off to the side. I had a nice view of Disneyworld and the mountains from my window. The hotel is next to the Anaheim Convention Center, so it's a perfect location if you are attending events there. The hotel has a Starbucks, a small food court, and a gift shop where you can buy Disney shirts and souvenirs and other character items. The fitness center was great. They have fitness classes available along with treadmills, elliptical machines, and other equipment. I got free access to the fitness center as a Hilton HHonors member, so if you plan to work out during your stay, make sure you're a Hilton HHonors member! The only downsides I encountered were 1) a very slow check-in (they only had one or two people working the front desk) and 2) phone service is really spotty towards the back of the hotel and on the lower level where the fitness center is.

Room Tip: Make sure to book a king studio suite if you need lots of room

Dear sayhi2tinee,

Thank you so much for your wonderful comments in regard to your stay at the Hilton Anaheim. Our studio suites were an addition to the hotel’s renovation that was completed in January 2009, so we’re very happy to hear that it suited your needs.

Thank you for visiting the our Health Club and taking advantage of our fitness classes. We offer spa services as well. Perhaps between your work at your conference you can find time to relax with a massage or mani/pedi at the Hilton Anaheim Health club.

We apologize for the slow service during your check in. During large conferences we tend to be fully staffed in order to get through the line as soon as possible. I’m certain that during your organizations conference in December that we will better be equipped to handle the flow of guests thus making your check-in seamless and prompt. Allowing you time to not only enjoy that view of Disneyland, but offer you the time to possibly visit the park as well. Also you would be happy to know that we are currently undergoing upgrades to our cell phone signal strength by installing antennas throughout the hotel.

Thank again for your positive comments and we look forward to your stay in December.

Kind regards,
Jennifer Sacks, Marketing Manager
