We have taken each of our grandchildren while they were 7 to Disneyland. Each trip we stayed in a different hotel. Desert Palms was by far our favorite. We arrived around 10:30 in the morning, thinking we could drop of our luggage off and head to Disneyland to enjoy the rest of the morning until we could check into our room. We were suprised by the desk clerk, Nevine, who checked us in at that time. Our Granddaughter had left her jacket in our airport shuttle and was a little distraught. Nevine called the shuttle company immediatly and made arrangements to have the jacket dropped off at the front desk upon the driver's next trip to the area. She also helped up with getting tickets for the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) and told us to cross Harbor Street to catch the bus to Disneyland there. It was the last stop before the park and all ART buses stop there. The ART stop for Route 9 was just by the hotel and was the first stop after leaving the resort. This was very convienentt as it was in the upper 90's while we were there and we didn't want to walk.
The room was very satisfactory as was the hot breakfast and the swimming pool. The beds were comfortable and the room was more quiet than most. The air conditioner was quieter than most and very efficient. The hotel is not a luxuary hotel but was clean and well maintained. I would recommend it to any of our friends that take their families to Disneyland.

Our stay was GREAT! We got in late and had reservations at a hotel near there only to find out the room was poorly air conditioned and below standard. As I was frantically calling around to find a kid suite open on labor day weekend, when I called Desert Palms Hotel I reached very helpful front desk staff who advised me I could come by to take a look at the room to ensure it fit my needs, which it did. My little boys absolutely loved the bunk beds and pool. The rate we received was great, hot breakfast was very high quality and parking was convenient.

Thank you for a wonderful stay for my son's 5th Birthday!

We had booked a 6 night stay here through Expedia for our trip to the Anaheim area, especially since it was within walking distance to Disneyland. We got to the hotel late (11 PM) and were given a 2Q room with an accessible bathroom. My kids were extremely disappointed with the room, especially the bathroom since it had no bathtub. I went back to the front desk to ask about getting a regular 2Q room but was advised that none were available and that they had correctly given me what I had booked, which was a 2Q room and not a 2Q non-accessible room. They further advised that they had suites available but that as I did not pay for a suite, they would not give me one and that I would have to wait until the next day when some regular 2Q's became available. As it was late and we were tired, we put up with the accessible room and were moved to a regular room the next day. The regular room was more to our liking as it was far better equipped than the accessible room (had a bathtub, more counter space, better lighting, larger mirrors, etc).

I do not know if the experience would have been any different if I had booked directly with the hotel instead of through a third party. A friend of mine had booked directly with the nearby Residence Inn Maingate 2 years ago and had something similar happen to them at check-in but they were upgraded to a suite with a loft for their entire stay. Who knows? Words of advice, do not get to the hotel too late and indicate in the comments when booking that you want a regular room, if that is your desire. This may help to prevent my experience.

First night aside, the complimentary parking, wi-fi, and breakfast are of great value to staying here although it would have been nice to have some day-to-day variety in the breakfast offering. Imagine having the same breakfast options for 6 straight mornings. We ended up skipping Day 5.

Given the first night experience and lack of breakfast variety, can't rate it higher than average.

Room Tip: If you do not require an accessible bathroom and do not want one, make sure you ask for a regular room when booking. Breakfast is on 5th floor, so it depends if you want to be farther or closer from it.

This is our 3rd visit at this hotel, and is fast becoming one of our favorite! We stayed during the busy Labor Day weekend, in which we participated in the Disneyland Half Marathon and were pleased that the hotel prices were not gouged for the events. Free parking, wifi and a hot breakfast are all included. I've read from another review of a complaint about being served the same thing....ok, again...the hot breakfast is FREE!! The pool and jacuzzi is nothing special, but its clean and served its purpose. The location is walking distance to pretty much everything. And the staff were friendly and very helpful. Will definitely return next year with our party of 23+. Thanks again!

Room Tip: If traveling with children, get the family sized suites. Avg rooms are pretty tight.

We booked this hotel through Get Away Today as a 5 night Disney Package (3 days at Disney, 1 at Universal, 1 at the Beach). This hotel is within a 5-7 minute walk of the entrance to Disneyland or the ART stop is right outside the door if you don't want to walk. For us, a family of four visiting with a family of 3 (Kids ages 18, 15, 12) we would typically walk to the park and ride the bus back.

The staff here are FANTASTIC! Very helpful in getting to and from other places like the beach, Universal, etc. They also have great information about nearby restaurants and grocery stores.

The room had a safe, microwave and frig which we used to store water and juice bottles plus fresh fruit to take into the parks. The micro was also great for those late night snacks (popcorn!). The rooms are normal size and all VERY quiet. This hotel is on a very busy intersection but you would never know it. We never heard anything. The beds were comfortable but ask for extra pillows if you like them to hold their shape.

Breakfast was a great money saver because it was included in the price of the hotel! We would always eat breakfast at the hotel (scrambled eggs, waffle stand, fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, toast, sausage or bacon, oatmeal, coffee, OJ/Apple Juice) then eat a late lunch/dinner with a snack later in the evening.

Parking (although FREE) for us was the an issue as we arrived in a big F250 Diesel Crew Cab and so could not park in the lower level (we didn't fit) and sometimes parking up on top was tricky. If you are in a small car, parking is not an issue at all. My suggestion to the hotel is that if you are in a vehicle that will fit in the lower level, that is where you need to park. Leave the upper lot for the larger vehicles (Escalade, Suburban, Trucks, etc.).

There is laundry (two washers, two dryers) on the 3rd and 4th floors. Washers work great $2/load. Dryers are also $2/load but usually take 3 times to dry, so keep that in mind. We heard that there was a laundromat nearby but never made the time to check it out. Might be worth it if you have several loads to do.

All in all, we will DEFINITELY stay here again! Way better than the Howard Johnson which is the other hotel we have stayed at during our visits to Disneyland.

Room Tip: As for a room that is NOT on the 2nd floor. Their is only ONE elevator that goes to the second floor and that elevator does NOT got to the 5th floor where breakfast is. In order to get to breakfast, you have to go to the first or third floor, switch elevators and then go to the 5th floor. Or you can hoof it up the stairs!
