“Minion hordes”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

This hotel was not my first choice, I was working in Brea and the embassy suites there was sold out.
Noise was a big issue at this hotel. Lots of annoying tweens running around, yelling, doubtlessly hyped up on Disney. It was made worse when several tour buses arrived and those kids started running around, banging on doors.

Kids everywhere, even at the bar, during the managers reception, climbing up, not listening to their mostly inattentive parents.

Many guests allow their door to slam shut from fully open, which, without any closing mechanism, slams shut with an almighty crash.

There's a steel reclamation plant right next door where you can hear and smell diesel engines and the constant beeping of reverse gear warnings, well into the night.

I generally avoid pet friendly hotels and was not enthused about the number of dogs being walked through the corridors.

The toilet in my room didn't flush properly. The entertainment factor of watching it swirl around clockwise quickly wore off and I had to fill the ice bucket with water and dump it out while flushing just to make the contents go down.

At the bar/reception, you can have any draft beer you want as long as it's Bud, Bud light, or Coors light. I walked past the bar area one evening and saw the barman with his hand in some kind of large tin, eating the contents. I ate nothing at this hotel, not even breakfast.
Local area is industrial, the hotel has ugly views of the Santa Ana river, the highway, the steel reclamation plant, or a closed/derelict restaurant out front.

The hotel is getting overdue for a refresh. Shame the Brea hotel sold out more than a week in advance.

The atrium was nice, I liked the Koi ponds.

Room Tip: Away from the highway and steel reclamation plant

This hotel compared to the embassy suites nearest the actual DisneyLand park was a better value. The drive is about 12-15 min to the park which i pretty good. The staff are very Helpful and attentive. The breakfast is excellent ..its fresh and the selection is plentiful, it will save you about $15 per person to eat here before heading out to Disneyland. Cozy room/good value!

We have annual passes so parking at the resorts each day wasn't an issue. For some, the distance from Disney (if that is your destination) might be a bit of an issue. We LOVE the Embassy Suites hotels and stay there whenever possible. The atmosphere is so fun and inviting, even better than the Disney themed/owned hotels in my opinion. All of the room doors face an open lobby with a glass ceiling allowing in natural light and gorgeous starlit night views. The lobby is filled with ponds that are home to turtles, ducks, and the biggest koi I have ever seen! Several pathways wind around the ponds, taking you over bridges and past delightful waterfalls. All of the lobby trees are wrapped with tiny lights so at night, the area takes on a magical quality. The hotel has a restaurant that is a bit pricey, but the food is really good and makes the expense feel okay in the end. Each room comes with a complimentary breakfast with more offerings than anything I have seen at other hotels without an actual menu. Breakfast is buffet style and includes the option for cooked to order eggs/omelets with your choice of ingredients. There is also french toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs (real not from a bottle!), oatmeal and yogurt with several toppings, several kinds of dry cereal, bagels, toast, english muffins, donuts, pastries, a juice bar, a soda fountain, a milk bar, a coffee/tea bar, and several other odds n ends. There is also a small manager's reception in the evenings that offers 2 complimentary alcoholic drinks per guest, unlimited soda or non-alcoholic mixed drinks (i.e. shirley temple), popcorn, a trail mix type snack, and a nacho bar. If you are not a big eater and are looking to save money during a Disney trip, it is more than enough to provide a light dinner. Plus the breakfast is completely open, so we grabbed extras to eat for dinner (like french toast and other dried goods). There is a really nice indoor pool and hot tub, unfortunately the hours are a bit limited. So those wanting to go relax in the hot tub after a long day at the park will be disappointed to find it already closed by the time they get there, assuming they stay at the parks till closing. The rooms were a bit dated as far as furniture, but where pretty clean overall. I was amazed that after walking around the room in white socks that the bottoms did not end up discolored as is the case in 90% of other hotels I have stayed at, even 5 star luxury hotels. I let them know ahead of time that it would be my son's birthday, so they had a balloon bouquet with a card and some goodies waiting in the room when we arrived. Also within minutes of our arrival they brought us a tray of snacks that included chocolate covered strawberries, a cheese & cracker assortment, and some bottles of water. It was a very welcome surprise after a long drive! All of the rooms have a separate bedroom and living room area. In the living room there is an additional sleeper sofa, however after pulling it out my son decided it was more comfy sleeping on the extra cushy couch. There is a kitchenette area with a sink, long counter, microwave, larger than average mini fridge, drawers to store snacks and a few cabinets. The TV in the living room area sits on a cabinet that has extra pillows, blankets, and sheets. There is a separate vanity area with a sink in the bedroom which is great for not tying up the single bathroom to get ready in the morning, or to allow multiple people to brush their teeth. The bathroom has a long vanity counter, sink, and an over-sized soaking tub with a bow-front shower curtain. The complimentary soaps are from Bath and Body Works and are actually something I would use if I didn't already bring my own. The BEST thing about the hotel is the beds. They are super comfy feather beds that you sink into and feel as though you are sleeping on a cloud. I have never had a hotel bed come so close to my bed at home as far as comfort level goes, so this was an extremely welcome surprise. All in all, our stay was really great and we would definitely stay there again!

No connecting rooms. Freeway noise is unacceptable. Good cook to order breakfast - a little to greasy. Beds comfortable, pillows suck. Pool smelled nasty. Late check-in. Why do I have to write 200 characters.. you just want people to blather on and on?

Dear Bryan K.,

My sincerest apology for the misunderstanding between your need for connecting rooms and the reservation request for adjoining rooms. I am sorry the Staff could not do anything about it, as we physically don't have any connecting rooms.
Also on your request to be transferred to another hotel could not be honored. Rates differ substantially between individually managed branded hotels and you had prepaid with a non-refundable deposit, so your price could not be honored at other Hilton branded hotels in the area.
Thank you for your compliments on our breakfast cook and our comfortable beds.

Sincerely,

There are many other hotels in the area that I would use before staying here again. The place needs some updating. Dresser handles came off several times. Room was not cleaned one day and the bathroom counter was not cleaned thoroughly when we arrived. The morning breakfast was only "so-so."

Dear Jim T.

Thank you Jim T. for taking the time to let us know about your experience with our Hotel.
In fact we are currently planning a major renovation but it is no excuse for not keeping the Hotel 100% clean at all times, which we strive to do. I apologize if we fell short of providing you and your family a care free stay. I will be sharing your comments with our Staff and I sincerely hope you would try us again, soon.

Thank you.
