“Incompetent Staff Downfall To The Place”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2008

The hotel has the feel of a makeover in a day... everything i think was spray painted even the bath tub which was already peeling.. that aside most staff were excellent that is those who worked in the bar and restaurant... on two separate occassion' s on our 4 day stay christmas time the maid entered the room when there was a DO NOT disturb sign....who ever choses to stay there confirm confirm and reconfirm your booking.. we still had one night to stay and while we were in disneyland and my brother was coming later thankfully.. he was bombarded with a maid entering the room after he had just come out of the shower note a do not disturb sign on door.. he thankfully had it on lock due to the previous day and she advs we check out today.. he advs NO we still had one more night.. this was 11am at 11.40am he recd a call from front desk telling him that we had 20minutes before check out and or be charged to my credit card the $145.. for another night.. my brother tracked us down in disneyland.. day ruined and then confronted by a female day supervisor who smirked and found the situation quite amusing.. i demanded to seek higher management.. and finally after becoming loud and irrate he exited his office... blah blah learning experience and an apology.. PLEASE it was pathetic i paid good money to stay there ... but do they normally nag people to be out of there room before check out... have they never thought of the saying that the customer is always right and a simple " I apologise there may be some confusion but our computer shows that you are checking out today can you come down etc"" not demand that a credit card be charged a new amount...or be told have your stuff out in 20 minutes..
and am i left to ponder that had someone not been in the room what would have happened to my things..????

after all that the next day check out was midday and my room key was deativated at 9am..when i approached front desk i was told that i must hv had it near my credit cards two card keys on two different people not working yet the pool gate and side door could be activated... Pathetic...would i stay here again for under $60 sure its a 10 minute walk over the bridge...there are so many business's around there that after speaking to others was unreal and what happened to me wasnt a simply forgot to fill up the toilet paper.. this was actually quite serious.. NO body should have to face the predicament we went through....

First off, this hotel was formerly a Holiday Inn. But the only visible sign of this is when youw alk to your room in the motel-style hallways. The lobby and entrance is beautiful. The pool area is spectacular, with private cabanas and an awesome bar. They do have a restaurant inside of the hotel, K'ya. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. They even bring it to your room if you request it through room service.

Our room was on the 5th floor (1 king bed and a pull out queen sofa bed). The newly upgraded rooms were nice. A huge (i think 56" flat screen) TV was there, with a suede blanket and down conforters. The headboards are giant (7' tall) dark brown leather. They have a nice sized desk (no drawers) and a 3-drawer dresser. They also provided many (i think 8 pillows total) in the room which was great. The TV runs on digital, so it was staticy and fuzzy from time to time. They said there is free wireless internet (must call front desk to get user name and pass word) but I was never able to log on.

The only downfall about this place was the restrooms in the room. It seems like this part of the room was not upgraded. The toilet is next to the shower and if someone were to open the door while you were using the toilet, your knees would be toast. The toilet paper holder is behind the bathroom door..that's how small the restroom was. There is a bathtub (small) with nice water pressure and a pretty cool water fixture (the attachment looks like a microphone)!

Our room smelled like vomit, I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the quality of the cleaning staff, but we were just so lucky to get a room that smelled like that. I am not at all a complainer, so we put up with it for 3 nights -- though we did buy candles and lysol and the smell was still there.

Disneyland is about a 5-10 minute walk away. It's not too bad, but you may just want to drive and park in the downtown disneyland parking lot for free. Someone earlier said that they could not hear the fireworks put on everynight from disneyland....i beg to differ!! The fireworks were so loud each night, they shook and rattled the windows. They are extremely loud and pretty scary.

Parking is $10/day. I didn't know about that until I arrived, so I figured I'd share my tip. But valet is $12/day..so why not. The staff if great and very friendly.

Our overall stay was nice and pleasant (other than the barf smell). I would recommend this place and probably stay here again.

A very warm and friendly place. All the staff are friendly and helpful. Yes I would rethink the music coming through the lobby, bar and pool area. Way too loud and annoying.

Art deco is the theme here and a very nice change of scene from the ordinary hotel lobbies. Pool area is wonderful, but again that music never ends! Watch the Disney fireworks display from the pool area, very impressive. I would definately stay here again, and enjoy my dining experience with excellent choices and very nicely prepared dishes that are quite tasty too and inexpensive for the quality of the food and presentation.

The room is a room, you get over the 7' headboards,
the presentation is very nice, but a room is still a room. Loved the big screen tv!

  • Liked — The food was delicious in the restaurant
  • Disliked — Music in the lobby and pool area, lobby is cold in the winter months.

We did not know anything about this hotel personally, just what we saw on their website. When I called to ask some questions the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. They guaranteed us exactly the rooms we wanted, which is something I've never had a hotel do. The rooms were very clean, nice and modern and the pool area was beautiful, though it was too cold to go in the water! The K'Ya restaurant on site was superb! The prices were amazingly inexpensive and the food was beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. Again, the staff in the restaurant was extremely helpful and accommodating. We ordered room service a couple of times as well, and the service was very quick. We simply could not get over the great prices! We will go back to this hotel next time we are at Disneyland and recommend it to anyone. We did not have any children with us; all of us were adults and these accommodations suited our needs perfectly. The wireless internet and large flat screen t.v.s were a huge hit!

  • Liked — The large screen t.v. and the restaurant & the price!
  • Disliked — Nothing! There was a lot of freeway noise, but the rooms are well-insulated

We were very disappointed,Please note that internet pictures look much better then in person..............Frist of all the out side of the hotel was really ugly......with it's big long lava light thing going on,looked like blood clots, floating around, then there was a dumpy,waterfountian....Then when we went into the lobby it was drab and cold.........Okay I'm thinking the rooms might be better,Not a chance they were just as bad....I went to unpack my suitecase, only too find, some drawers that looked like the filing cabnets we have at work........Oh but there was the nice big screen T.V.............And not ONE Picture on any of the walls cold and drab like the lobby............Who did your pool area........someone with awesome taste.....you should have had them do the rest of the hotel...................And Why Oh Why, would a Guess at a Hotel have to pay to park,at the HOTEL their staying in,And then have the nerve to charge you $12:00 percouple a day to go 2 blocks,to Disneyland.............

This used to be a Holiday Inn when we stayed here 2 years ago, and the only way we will stay here again is if it is bought and changed. After our initial 40 minute check-in we found we had a room with no carpet on the floors and exposed duct work on the ceiling.....How nice. The pool area is loud nightly with music and people partying till who knows when. The restaraunt is expensive and not all that good. It is trying to be and upscale, downtown, trendy hotel which charges $10 a day to park. Not bad if your in San Fran or New York, but Anahiem Disney? This is the only hotel which charges for parking anywhere close to Disney Land, and the $10 is not even valet, thats another $3. Oh, by the way, after I received my credit card statement the next month, there were unauthorized charges on it billed directly from the hotel. DONT stay here unless all the Motel 6's, bridge viaducts, card board boxes, and vans down by the river are taken.

The first thing that hits you when you come upon the Menage is confusion at how a hotel (Motel?) with catwalks can be listed as a 31/2 star property. This is a hotel suffering from an identity crisis. It can't decide if it's a run of the mill Motel or a chic, upscale hotel. The lobby leads you to believe the latter. It is actually very nice looking with loud music playing. The pool area itself is also quite nice with comfortable lounge chairs. The biggest shock came when we saw the rooms. The rooms have updated, modern furniture with a huge flat screen tv but the room is basically a Motel 6 room with a noisy old fashioned air conditioning unit and a very tiny, old bathroom. The toiletries are very cheap as are the thin towels. While the linens are very nice, the pillows are the cheap, overfilled ones. Definitely no down pillows here. Our toilet was quite dirty and was not cleaned much better after we complained. The bathtub was more like a puddle and very shallow. This hotel would have been better off staying as a Holiday Inn. I do have to admit that it is very convenient if you are visiting Disney. It is walking distance.

  • Liked — great tv
