“Doubletree to Disneyland”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We recently stayed here for a grandchild's 4th birthday and trip to Disneyland. There were 7 adults and 4 children in our party. The room configruations were perfect for our group. We needed the ability to put the babies down and have another room to visit in and rooms were set up perfectly for that. The rooms were very clean and quite comfortable, We arrived early so we were not able to check in right away. Most hotels where I have stayed in the past have asked for a phone number so they can call us when the room as ready. The desk person, who happened to be the desk supervisor, did not so ask us that question so I asked him if he could call us when our room was ready. He promtly replied " That won't be my prioity I have other things to take care of" and added that I could try and call later if I wanted. Not such a great first impression.
The other down side was the property was quite a hike to the Disneyland park. We were all fit and able to make the walk but it was difficult to get the little ones back for a nap. The hotel does not have its own shuttle but you can take the Anaheim resort transit. We took the transit one day and it was a disaster. It made several stops and crowded the bus to the absolute max which was tough for people with small children and my 77 year-old mom. It took less time to walk everyone there. Would I stay here again? Yes, but probably stay closer to Disneyland if I am bringing the little ones.

Dear Christitay,
I enjoyed reading your recent review , and am glad that for the most part your family enjoyed their stay. I am very concerned however by the way one of our supervisors spoke to you, and I want to apologize. It was not typical, and not appropriate. We have already reviewed our procedure for tracking guests that check in early, and hopefully this will never happen again.
Respectfully,
Jeff Morse

Superb hotel, everything I could have asked for. From the moment we checked in everything was great.
Stayed 14 nights, got a great room (room 724), top floor overlooking the pool and able to se the Disney fireworks.
Room was spacious, and perfect that there was a seperate area to sit in the evenings after our little fella had gone to bed.
Ideal for Disney, ART transport tickets available at reception, TIP if you miss the number 1 bus going to Disney on the other side of the road stay on the same side of the road as the Doubletree and catch a number 3, it turns round and heads back to Disney just down the street.
Food at the hotel was excellent good choice for breakfast and kids eat free !!! good room service and very prompt.
Pool area was small but ideal, the pool was not deep and heated, so perfect for the kids and the warm spa was lovely.
Hotel had a Starbucks but we found that it was only open in the morning, bar was nice and served a good array of drinks.
Guest sevices were excellent and were able to get advice on most enquiries that we had re taxis, shopping etc.
Thank you Doubletree for assisting in making our holiday of a lifetime such a memorable one

Room Tip: High up overlooking the pool, you see the fireworks !!

As a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids), staying off-property is the only way to go to be able to afford 6 days at the parks without cashing out a 401K or pension. This was our 5th time staying here, and by and large I was pleased with our trip. Many attractive updates since our last stay here in May 2011, most notably the restaurant.
Check in was pleasant and uneventful, we appreciated the help with our (numerous!) bags and boxes up to our room.
Our room (645) was just on the other side of the ice and vending machines, and I was a little worried that it would be noisy, but it wasn't. That said, late-night or early morning use of either of those machines would have indeed been disruptive. Plus, the view from the windows faced a back parking lot and side street, but we didn't spend much time gazing out the window. Pool views are much better, as we've had with previous stays.
Housekeeping was acceptable, but had to ask for a shower cap and for a sufficient amount of towels, and the housekeeper was very gracious.
Beds are very comfortable, my kids slept on the foldout sleeper, and they thought it was fine.
In-room WiFi: don't pay for it, just use your smartphone as a personal hotspot. Much cheaper and easier, problem solved.
Small pool, but we certainly weren't there for the pool. It was fine, as was the hot tub.
The breakfast buffet is delightful, with a wide assortment of hot and cold foods to suit all tastes and preferences, and the service was quite good on most mornings, and the "kids eat free" promotion certainly added to the value.
Parking: although you do pay for parking, the lot is well-lit and the spaces are large, our Suburban fit beautifully and was easily maneuvered throughout the lot.
Distance to parks: it is a bit of a walk to the parks, but we actually enjoy it. Save your money and skip ART; the walk goes quickly, and frankly, if you can't handle that walk, you'll be done in by all the walking at both of the parks.
Tip to parents, even if your kids are "too big" for a stroller (my youngest is 6 years old), bring it with you to stash your stuff in the storage basket, or for a brief reprieve for tired little legs on the walk. No one wants to wear a backpack all day long and in 90 degrees. Trust me on this one.
We have been coming here since 2007 (upon the recommendation of a longtime Disney employee) and we plan on staying here again.

We stayed for one night last Saturday; Myself, my husband and our 2 children (2 and 3 years old). We stayed on the 3rd floor in room 333.

The good:
-We were booked in a 2 room suite - the sitting area was nice. Comfortable couch and a nice easy chair. There was also a desk with a business-type swivel chair.
-The bedroom had 2 queen-sized beds (which my husband said were "short"). Linens were nice & soft
-There were 2 LCD TVs - one in each room, each with their own remote
-The A/C was quiet
-Plenty of extra towels in the room (we usually have to call for extras)
-Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries
-They give you warm chocolate chip cookies when you check in
-They brough us toothpaste (which we had forgotten)

The bad:
-Pool area is very small
-Coffee pot in the room didn't work. We called for a new one and it never came.
-The shower head in the tub didn't work properly and the spray settings could not be changed
-The shower made a loud high pitched noise as soon as you turned the hot water on
-The plug in the bottom of the tub was broken
-There is a large space between the mattress and the headboard of the bed. My 2 year old actually slipped through it.
-Looooong walk to Disneyland (or pay $4/person to take the shuttle)
-The view was crappy (which is unfortunate since the room had large windows)
-The noise from the street outside was very noticeable and annoying when trying to sleep
-The WORST part was the "parking" and "resort" fees. Parking is $16 (much higher than most hotels in the area) And they charge a $6 "resort" fee. When I asked the clerk at the front desk what the "resort" fee was for, her reply was "Because this is a resort" (which it is not)

I think this hotel is overpriced. This was our first time staying in a Double-Tree (we have stayed at The Hilton sown the street and it was great) I was expecting Hilton quality and unfortunately was disappointed. I would not choose to stay here again. There are other hotel that are closer to Disneyland and nicer (also less expensive).

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms ending in "43" - they are right across from the ice makers

We stayed 3 nights and found the hotel to be very good value and good quality. The room was comfortable with a seperate living area. Beds were comfortable and room was very clean and comfortable. The lobby area was very nice and spacious with free WIFI. Staff were helpful and friendly. It is approx. 15-20 minute walk to Disneyland but there is a shuttle bus which stops right out the front though we did have to wait about 20 minues or more each time for it to arrive. It was way too hot to walk and when we were there temperatures over 40 degrees celsius on both days. It is easy to walk to various restaurants and fast food places. It is also approx. 10 minute walk to Target if you need to stock up on anything. Breakfast was included in our rate and it was more than adequate with good service. Plenty to choose from to fill up on before heading off to Disneyland. Overall and excellent choice for anyone looking for a good quality hotel close to Disneyland.

Stayed here for 4 nights to visit Disney and had a lovely time. Bedrooms good size and beds comfortable. Having lounge area good too. Breakfast very average. Fruit good, hot selection lacks appeal despite interesting dishes.
Pool area pleasant and comfortable. 10 to 15 min walk to Disney or lots of rEstaurants. Or resort bus stops at hotel for easy transfer to parks or key sights.
