“Great Place”
Reviewed September 10, 2006

A great place to stay.Directly across from Disneyland. It has one of the most friendly and helpful front desk staffs I've dealt with in my travels.I would definately stay here again.A great bargain for the price.

A mini-suite? Explain that to my 17-year old daughter who slept on cushions under the sinks!!

Cramped, not very clean and with a pitiful breakfast offering in the restaurant next door.

the only saving grace is that you literally hace to cross South Harbor Blvd, and you are in Disney.

Did our annual road trip with the children to DL and had a great stay here. Like other posters have mentioned, this BW is convenient, had no trouble parking our SUV by our room, rooms (we had two, one for the teenagers(both 18 years old) and one for Mom, child and Dad) were always tidy, check in and front desk service was always pleasant, had wireless internet for the geek in our family. The pool is small, but we had it lucky and only two others were there when we did a little swim, Great to have the machines available for laundry service! What a lifesaver! We headed to the various large malls nearby, did a pick up of the teens at LAX and this hotel was convenient for travel to and from. Did experience quite a bit of noise regarding the dumpster getting the bin emptied, but the sanitation department at home makes the same amount of noise, The comp breakfast was great for the kids but we did try out the other places nearby for variety sake. Over all for value, cleanliness and location, this place is terrific.

We picked this hotel due to its proximitiy to DLR and the reviews we had seen on this board as well as others.

First the location can not be beat for walking distance to Disneyland of the non-Disney hotels. We had standard room over looking the very small pool area. It had 2 double beds, a small table and chairs, desk, small fridge and Microwave. Small bathroom with only 1 sink. Overall the room was comfortable for the small amount of time we spent in the room.

Pool was very small and had lots of kids in the pool. It was extremely cold as well. It seemed clean. They did provide towels at the pool area.

Free breakfast, consisted of hardboiled eggs, pastries, 4 types of cereals, coffee, tea, milk, juices and hot chocolate.

High Speed internet service is only available in building 1 and even if you make the request at reservation there is no guarentee of getting into the first building. That is where our issue came in with the front desk. I checked in and left the front desk and when realized we were in building 2, and went back to ask about the highspeed access. The next desk clerk said that we did have access in the room and no problem. Once in the room noticed no access to highspeed internet. Called the front desk and was told were were out of luck and it was not a guarentee even if we requested it at reservation time. A few minutes later they called back and gave us a room in the first building. But we had to turn in our other keys. I doubled checked that it was non-smoking before accepting their offer to move. When we got to the new room, it was not maked as non-smoking anywhere and the room was filled with smoke smells. Back down to the front desk and the staff indicated that I was wrong, the room was non smoking and I would just have to deal with it. They would not get the manager for me to talk with them. I got my old room keys back and dealt without the internet during this time.

We also looked into changing hotels, but did not have easy access to search. I spoke with the manager the next morning and she appologized and said she would speak to the front desk. I did notice a chance in the front desk attitudes the next several days.

  • Liked — location
  • Disliked — Rude front desk staff
  • Tips/Secrets — request highspeed internet access at reservation time, but don't expect it.

We stayed here for two nights last week. This is one of the cleanest motel rooms I have ever stayed in. Very impressive. So nice to have the microwave and fridge in the room. We paid a little more than we should, but that was because we made our reservations at the last minute. The location can not be beat for the easy access to Disneyland Resort. I only wish that the pool was open later. It would have been nice to go in the jacuzzi after a long day in the park.

We just returned from 5 nights at Disneyland. We've always spent the extra $ to stay onsite at a Disney hotel but wanted to save some $$ and compare to staying at the Disney hotels. We actually stayed at 3 hotels this trip - one night at the Candy Cane, 2 nights at Paradise Pier and then 2 nights at the BW Park Place. First, the good. Location! You can't beat it. it is literally right across the street from the park entrance – just a quick 3 minute walk and you’re in the park. The room was large. We had 2 double beds plus a sofa sleeper. There was a mini-fridge and a microwave. There is a very, very tiny pool. We didn’t use it because it didn’t look clean and the hot tub was green and foamy. There is also a laundry but with just 2 washers and 2 dryers, it was hard to find them available. The room came with coupons for a free continental breakfast next door but we didn’t use them so I can’t comment. The restaurant didn’t look very inviting so we skipped it. Also, the hotel and restaurant would pile their garbage outside of the dumpsters so the ally would be filled with garbage by the end of the day. Plus, our room wasn’t as clean as it could be. There were cheetos all over the floor. But, my biggest complaint really was not with the hotel – you get what you pay for but with a few of their guests. There was a group – looked like 2 families with grandparents (I counted at least 8 adults and 9 kids) sharing 2 rooms next to us. When we arrived, they had wet clothes hanging along the rail of the outside hallway (we were on the 2nd floor). Not just wet shirts, etc but all of their underwear. The next day there was a suitcase stand filled with their underwear they’d hand washed and left outside the room to dry. It’s find to hand wash in your room but I’d prefer not to have to walk past it and see their unmentionables sitting out there. I would say that if you can get a really good deal here, then you can’t beat the location. But, I didn’t feel as safe with my children in this motel. And, would prefer to spend a bit more to have better neighbors. Also, parking is included but you have to have your car out of the lot by 3:00 on the day you check out. This is because there is only room for one car per room so you have to be out by check-in time. If you are planning to head to the park the day you leave, it is inconvenient. In comparison, the Disney hotels let you park until midnight. Another friend just came back from a trip to Disney a couple week prior to ours. They stayed at the Park Vue which is next door and ended up moving to the BW Park Place after one night because their room at the Park Vue was dirty and smelled of mold (apparently not all of their rooms are renovated yet). They said the BW Park Place was much nicer. I can’t review it because we didn’t stay there ourselves but based on what my friend said, it sounds like the BW Park Place would be a better choice than the Park Vue. In comparison, the Candy Cane is much, much nicer than the BW Park Place. Much clearer, better grounds, more comfortable rooms. The extra walk is worth it for the a more clean and safer feeling environment.

This hotel is the perfect spot for a small family. We went last may with our 2 year old son and stayed in the room with the King sized bed and the pull out sofa. It was nice the sofa was kind of in a seperate area so our son had his own little part of the room. It also had a large mini fridge and a microwave which was a life saver. The TV had full chanel listings so when we came back to the room for our son's nap my husband and I just spent some mellow time watching Judge Judy. My favorite part by far though was walking by everyone waiting for their shuttle knowing I'd be back in my room before they'd be on their shuttle. This hotel was such a time saver. We stayed May 2005 for $79 a night and are going back in September for $89 a night. So obviously the price is another great factor in this hotel. It's cheap, it's a normal hotel, and it's super close. Which is perfect for me :)
