“Good Basic Value”
Reviewed August 12, 2005

Just returned after spending four nites there and can confirm what others have commented re: this hotel. We had a mini-suite which was fine for myself, wife and three kids - ages 10, 8, and 7. It is located right across the street from the Disney main entrance and great for the tired kids after a long day's activity. Parking spaces are very limited so it's best to just leave the car there for the duration. The room was clean but the decor makes it feel dark. As others have mentioned, the shower head is only about 5-1/2 ft high, and can be awkward for some. The kids enjoyed the afternoon swimming breaks but the pool is rather small and can be crowded. The free continential breakfast is very basic, with just a selection of apples, oranges, Danish and muffins, cold cereal, juices & coffee. The staff were courteous and helpful. The microwave and refrigerator gave us the opportunity to keep basic snacks and drinks for the kids.

Overall, we had a pleasant and uneventful stay. It has a great location and is fine if you are looking for basic accomodations at a reasonable price.

PROS: We chose this property based soley on the proximity to the gates. It truly is right across the street-no false advertising there. The Park Vue is right next door and is just as close. Also, the check-in staff is very prompt and helpful. They took our bags at 11:00am, and had our room ready by 11:30am, even though check-in did not begin until 3:00.

CONS: Cleanliness is #1 when staying at a hotel/motel for me. I read on the reviews that people felt the property was clean...NOT! The tile in the bathroom was moldy and paint was flaking off as we showered. The showerhead truly is very low as others have said. My baby had black knees and hands from crawling on the carpet. The bedspreads were made of that thin itchy poliester type--very uncomfortable. I had to wear socks because I was uncomfortable walking in the floor. Don't waste your time with the "complimentary breakfast". Go next door to IHOP.

I would not stay at this property again. Because I love the closeness to the park I might consider staying at one of the properties nearby-there are many to choose from, as this is a hotel zone...OR I might take my chances with Priceline.

Stayed three days to attend the actual 50th Anniversary event weekend at Disneyland Park. Tried this inn based on it's great location which is directly across the street from the enterance to the Disneyland Resort. It's location is as good or better as the Disneyland hotel complex at less than half their rates or better!!

Check-in & staff were great and very efficient! Hotel was neat & clean. Rooms were suprisingly decent in size and nicely decorated. Being that this is truely a tourist facility the rooms were pretty quiet. Parking is VERY tight and limited.

I found this property to be a real bargain and a nice surprise. Considering it was one of the busiest and most crowded days at Disneyland, it was great having a convenient location that was clean and relaxing. I suggest booking it early as it is a popular hotel.

What this mainly has going for it is its location. You are literally right across the street from Disneyland's entry plaza. There is nowhere closer other than Disney's own hotels. We used the closeness during the hot afternoons when the park fills up to return to the hotel to cool down and avoid the crowds, then returned to the park in the late afternoon. Also nearby are plenty of restaurants.

The staff are very professional and helpful. One guy came in with a French accent and the desk clerk immediately responded in French.

The suite is very comfortable, but too dark. But who spends time in their room when they are at Disneyland?

Considering the location, the fact that you get a suite, and the high quality staff, this is an outstanding value.

We stayed at the Best Western Park Place from June 24-30. We arrived at 1pm (check in is 3pm) and we were told that our room was already for us. We had a hard time parking as it is very limited and we have a large truck to try and park, but once we found a spot we didn't have to drive anywhere else. Disneyland is right across the street within walking distance for sure. The only thing is that every night you can hear the fireworks from your room at exactly 9:30pm. The pool we found was very small and always full of kids, good luck on getting in there for a relaxing swim. We also took a bus tour of Los Angeles through Grayline tours which picked us up right from the hotel and brought us back at the end of the day. Overall we would stay here again even if just for the location to Disneyland.

Just returned from a wonderful and magical week at DL and stayed at the BW Park Place Inn and Mini Suites from June 12 - 18 in room #358.
Our family of four ( 2 adults + 2 children ages 11 and 5) arrived at approximately 11:00am and was advised by the the courteous front desk staff that our room would not be ready until 3:00pm and offered to hold our luggages. Our original plan was to visit DT Disney for a few hours until our room was ready. This quickly changed when we realized that a car rental service was available in the lobby on a different counter. My Wife and i discussed that if the rate was right then we would rent a car for the day and check out the local shops in the area as well as pick up some groceries. It turned out that the owner, William Smith of Select Rent-A-Car, is a transplanted Canadian and made me an offer for a rental that i couldn't refuse. I was expecting an economy car which would have been suitable, however, it turned out to be a BRIGHT RED 2004 MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE!!!!!!!!. Our family had a blast cruising around town in that car, especially with the top down. We later cruised on over to the Food 4 Less on west Katella and picked up 4 jugs of water (2.5 gallon/ 10 l. at 1.00 each - stock up if you can since we had run out on our last day and had to purchase from the gift shop at the Tropicana next door, a 1 gal / 4l. jug for 3.00 each) as well as some basics for breakfast (ham, bread, milk etc), since there were so many conflicting reviews on the complimentary breakfast or the regular buffet meals at the Captain's Kidds restaurant.
Our rooms were ready as promised and was located overlooking the pool. Others have commented about the noise from the kids in the pool, for us it was never an issue as the pool was closed after 10pm. The room was spacious with double queen beds, fridge and microwave oven. The entire complex was having the beds replaced as there was a 40 ft Sealy container in the parking lot being un-loaded. Lucky for us our beds were changed on our second day and did we ever notice a difference. Throughout our stay the cleaning staff did a wonderfull job in maintaining our room. Our request for extra towels was sent up in quick order. The hotel grounds were always kept clean and neat. Since we had a view of the pool, i was able to confirm that the pool was maintained on a daily basis.
Last year we had stayed at the HOJO and would rate the BW as very similiar in it's decore style and customer service from its front desk to support staff. The main differences would be the BW does not have a wading/ walk-in pool as its minimum depth was 3 ft, therefore, not suitable for very small children, not an issue for us, just an observation. BW is more like a 3 level motel where the door opens to the outside where as the HOJO more like a hotel where your door opens to an internal hallway, did not matter to us one way or the other . BW check out time is 11am while HOJO 12 noon, also not an issue for us. The shower head at the BW is located only at 5 ft high, i still cannot figure out the reasoning for it being so low, however, not an issue as we just ducked our heads to rinse out the hair shampoo. Laundry facilities at the BW was conveniently located next to the pool, however, while at the HOJO it is in the basement down a long quiet hallway, i did not feel secure for my wife to do the laundry at the HOJO, while at the BW this was not an issue as it is next to a high traffic area and the window in the laundry rooms opens to the pool area itself. With only 2 washers and 2 dryers the best time to avoid congestion was when we returned for our afternoon break. While our clothes were in the wash it was the perfect time to take a nice relaxing dip in the whirl pool, go for a swim or both.
All else aside, the BW is by far the closest good neighbor hotel to the main entrance to DL. The only other hotel that is closer is the Disney's Grand Californian which is in the California Adventure side of the park, however, do expect to pay a premium for it. The decision this year to chose to stay at the BW was becouse of our numerous experiences last year of carrying our exhausted then 4y.o. from the main gate all the way back to HOJO. We would every time pass by the BW and we would say to each other that next time we must stay at the BW as it is so close to the main entrance to the park. This year our entire family was glad to have stayed at the BW Park Place Inn and Mini Suites due to its location, dedicated staff plus the convenience of a car rental service in the same complex and we will definitely stay here again next year.

Stayed at the BWPPI June 1-5, my wife, four year old daughter and myself for my daughter’s annual birthday trip to Disneyland. I am a hotel snob. I worked in them for years in positions from Houseman up to Manager. If the hotel is going to be a major part of the vacation, I will definitely splurge (i.e. J.W. Marriott in Cancun, St Francis in SF etc). However, after last years disappointing stay at the Grand Californian for $240/night (with a discount, Disney just does NOT know how to run a first class hotel ) , I decided that we did not stay in the room enough to make it an actual major part of the vacation at Disneyland.

With that in mind, my main goals for the hotel for this year were clean, walking distance and affordable in that order. This motel did fine. It is an older hotel, as are all within walking distance, but it is well kept up. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a showplace, the grounds are plain, parking is tight, the fixtures in the room are not new, but it is kept clean. The fridge in the room was nice to have, we never used the microwave. Bed was fine, toilet had some problems (old) and the a/c was not the best (old) but nothing to get upset about. The room itself was plenty large enough for the three of us, and kept very clean, maid did an excellent job, especially after she leaned that I tip the maid each day. The restaurant on site and the free continental breakfast are useless, did not bother with it after the first time. There are plenty of decent places to eat within walking distance, and we ate all our meals in the parks or Downtown Disney. There is a convenience store in the next hotel that was well stocked. The walk to the main gates is as close as what we had last year at the GCH, the major asset for this motel. Park your car and walk back and forth at your leisure. Also, at $79/night booked directly on their website, it was inexpensive for the area and a third of the price of the GCH, which was charging $275/night for this time.

Bottom line, if I could book into GCH or DH for $150~$175/night I would stay there, If not this place is fine.
