“Only if you`re OK with budget meals...”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 13, 2013

Stopped by around 9 pm, after leaving the DL park. Thought that $9.99 would be OK, since there were a few different dishes to choose from and the other close by option was Tony Roma and just one dish would cost at least $15-$20/head. I found the buffet to be tasteless.Be careful that the $9.99 doesn`t include any drinks and they get you with "unlimited soft drinks and coffee" for another $3-4/head when you pay for it.Anyway, meats were either over-burnt or not cooked at all, tried the asian meats and they were gross, had some pizza slices (cold), french fries ( just OK), the cookies were hard like baked early morning or the day before and the list goes on. If you`re tired, you may feel that you`re getting full from their food but it`s really bad. Would not go back there even if it was just $5/head, unless the food quality gets MUCH better.

“Come on, it's NOT that bad...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

I was surprised that many seemed to hate this place. I visited the place and I thought it was decent with the price they charged me. Southern fried chicken and cheeseburgers were freshly made. Other food was still pretty decent, except for the ribs (skip it). Staff were quite friendly too. I didnt order any drink, they still gave me a cup of iced water which they kept re-filling. Whether I was lucky that when I came the food was all somewhat decent, I dont know. But I still think it doesnt deserve all the bad rating it gained so far.

Bain marie food. High volume low taste cheap food. Eat until you drop but with that quality who wants to. Good enough to fill you up but don't expect quality. Honestly, go to the iHop next door.

“Horrible treatment for a kid with food allergies!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

I just learned of the horrible treatment my son got while trying to dine at this place during a school band trip to Disneyland. He and his group had dinner here one night. Being the responsible kid with food allergies that he is, he asked to speak with a manager to determine which foods were safe for him and which ones contained his allergens. Upon being told that nearly everything contained dairy, my son and his chaperone asked if it would be possible to have the chef simply boil some plain pasta without sauce or butter on it for him. The managers response was "NO". Can you imagine? It was the most basic, simple request that was not even attempted to be accommodated. They had pasta on the buffet, so he knew it was available in the kitchen. For a manager to treat a customer this way was is awful. To treat a13 year old kid this way on a school trip without his parents there is unforgivable. My son wound up eating lettuce from the salad bar that night for dinner. Based on the horrible reviews here, it's probably better that he did not have to eat the garbage that was on the buffet, but it would have been nice to have a simple accommodation made. CLEARLY this is not a Disney run establishment. They bend over backwards and do cartwheels for kids with allergies. Captain Kidds should take a page from Disney's customer service handbook and give it a try. Don't patronize this place.

“Skip it.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

We should have gotten a clue when a reasonably priced restaurant, directly across the street from Disneyland, seemed to be virtually empty each time we passed by. After forking out big bucks in the resort the night before, we were lured into Captain Kidd's by the low prices and photos of yummy looking food, which as it turns out, were probably stock photos from the internet.

The food was in short supply, dried out, burned, etc. I grabbed a dessert cup which turned out to be a few graham cracker crumbs on the bottom (not crust, just the crumbs), covered with whipped cream, and a dollop of jelly donut filling. Ew.

You would be better off going to McDonald's if it is cheap you are after, or visit some of the restaurants in Downtown Disney, which is between the two theme parks. Basically, we tried to save money by going there, but wasted out money instead.
