“Our son loved the candy canes in the lobby! We loved the hotel!”
Reviewed December 4, 2006

This property is not in need of another positive review, and part of me does not want to share this lovely nugget of a hotel to make it any more difficult to get a reservation. We simply love the Candy Cane and have found our 'home' as we live one hour from Disneyland and like to go for an overnight once a month.I did not think I could talk my husband out of staying at the Disneyland Hotel or Grand CA, but he loved the Candy Cane best of all, and I did too.

It is a smaller boutique type hotel, very nicely appointed, and you can park right in front of your room. The beds are very comfortable and clean, clean, clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful; we were able to check in at eleven am and were given a choice of rooms. Then the best part...

James, the most wonderful guy, gave us special service and drove us to Disneyland with the most enthusiastic spirit. It was like it was his first day working, he was so welcoming. That made us extremely happy that we chose the Candy Cane Inn.To have a personal shuttle was so much better than waiting for the Anaheim Resort shuttle, that is something we never want to do again with a three year old.We stayed at the Anabella outside of the resort, but had to take the Anaheim shuttle; we had to wait thirty minutes every time we wanted to go or leave the park.Candy Cane shuttle is there when they say, and parking is included.

This is not a hotel for families seeking glitz and glam.It is tasteful and understated, with cobblestones and well kept gardens. No one smokes there and the guests keep their children behaving well. There is not a restaurant, the breakfast is very minimal, just rolls and such.

Thanks, Candy Cane Inn, we enjoyed our stay and your simple, elegant comfort. Thanks for your manager specials, we will be back before the end of Jan.Sincerely, Chris

I have lost count of the number of times we have stayed here in the last 13 years...probably 10 times. The Candy Cane Inn still remains one of the best motels at Disneyland.

CHECK-IN: When we checked in, the front desk clerk wasn't the least bit friendly. In fact, she seemed very irritated that we were checking in. I was very shocked because this has never happened to us before. Perhaps she was having a bad day.

All other staff was friendly.

ROOMS: Another issue we had, which was very abnormal, was the cleanliness of the room. There was old food and even money under the bed. That's right...money...which tells you someone hadn't vacuumed. BUT, this is unusual. In spite of the food and $$, the room was very nice. GREAT showers and we love the large sink area. When you are vacationing with 2 teenaged girls, you need plenty of bathroom space for them to put on their make-up. :)

The beds are THE MOST COMFORTABLE. Nice fluffy pillows. One word of caution...there isn't much drawer space for clothes.

FOOD: They provide a morning breakfast with typical continental provisions...cereal, packaged oatmeal, toast, fruit, oj, bagels, donuts, etc.

The CCI has a shuttle that runs every 1/2 hour to the park. VERY convenient and fast.

A side note...in April, 2006 we stayed at the Grand Californian for 5 nights. To be very honest...it wasn't as nice as the Candy Cane Inn and we had some issues with the housekeeping staff going thru our suitcases. I was so disgusted with the D-land hotel, I didn't leave a review...it would have been long and negative. SOOO...save your money and stay at the Candy Cane Inn.

we stayed at the candy cane inn for three nights from october 30 this year 2006

We have stayed all over California and Florida, at inns and hotels of this class, but i can tell you that without a doubt this is the one!

The location is such that if you rolled off your superb soft king or double queen bed, you could end up at the gates of Disney.

Yet this place is as tranquil as you could wish for. The courtyard, pool area and lobby are just to die for I can tell you it was a real job to leave. All of the staff, including the manager , mr Jeff Holl really made us feel right at home and oh so welcome.

The room we stayed in was pristine every day and we had a fold down service in the evening. breakfast was served either in our room or around the pool /lobby area, it was fab!!!

i truthfully cannot wait to return to the best little inn,in the states.

Wondering why people seem to love the Candy Cane? On the surface, it seems to have what all the other hotels have - rooms, shuttle, pool. It costs a little more than many of the other properties. It's clearly not in the Disney properties class, so why do people consistently rate it so high on TravelAdvisor?

Some highlights:

- Great staff, who go out of their way, time and again, to solve problems and make your stay better.

- A REAL, STAFFED front desk (increasingly rare in Anaheim).

- A DEDICATED shuttle service to the parks - other hotels share a shuttle, so it stops all over and if you miss the window at your hotel, you're out of luck. The CCI bus waits for most of the half hour at the hotel, then makes a run over and back. Perfect if, like us, you consistently get to the bus only to remember you forgot your tickets, water bottles, sunblock, hat, autograph book...

- True walking distance to the parks (if you don't want to shuttle).

- Nice rooms for the cost. Definitely value for money. Again, you won't find top-of-the-line amenities and linens, but very nice compared to comparably-priced hotels in Anaheim. Each room has plantation shutters to block out light, and double-paned windows to block out sound.

- That breakfast! Perfect for families on their way to the park. To buy breakfast along Harbor or Katella you will, I promise, have to stand in line for 30 minutes and then pay through the nose for bad food. At CCI, we eat our bagels and cream cheese or cereal at poolside and stow our apples for mid-morning, and we're happy and $30 richer. We always meet interesting people at breakfast, too.

- The clientele. We have never been awakened by a frat party, a truck rally in the parking lot, or a shouting match down the hall. And yes, all these things have happened to us at other Anaheim properties.

We discovered CCI by being lucky enough to win a stay there several years ago, and it's now our regular Disney lodging. We've stayed at 4 other Disney hotels, and none of them even come close. We happily pay the extra $20 or $30 a night for our room over other Anaheim hotels because we know we will sleep and eat well and that our memories will be of the park visits, and not of the (bad) hotel stay!

The rooms and decor were nice but in general, we were extremely unsatisfied with our stay and felt that the management mishandled the following issue: We booked the hotel under the AAA rate and when arrived, the management refused to honor that rate because we didn't have the AAA card with us and we didn't know our AAA number. We are AAA members but simply forgot our card. Instead, they insisted that we pay an additional $40.00 per night. It was a Sun-Wed booking so there was plenty of aviailability. Pretty much every other hotel nearby were willing to offer us the lower rate, even without the AAA card. When I inquired about this with management, the manager was extremely rude. Needless to say, after one night, we checked out and stayed at another similarly nice hotel on the same block for the lower rate.

I travel often and never have I experienced a hotel that was willing to lose business when there are many vacancies. It seems to me that it would have been better to honor their quoted rate than lose the business altogether.

We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. The premium room was great as breakfast was delived to your room each morning and that was a time saver. Our room was very clean and nice. The grounds were immaculate and very quiet. We found the pool area to be great and never crowed. Our overall experience was great. The shuttles run every half hour which sometimes was a pain. I wouldn't recommend walking it if you have small children. We carried our daughter (3) home one night and it nearly killed us, but for those without small children the walk is easy. The staff was always friendly and prompt. I will definately stay here again!

Very, very nice place to stay. Close to Disneyland. You can walk or they have a shuttle. The room was very well kept and clean and nice size. The people were very nice and the continental breakfast was good. Grounds are very well kept and beautiful and the pool is nice, especially nice to have breakfast around it. I definitely will stay there again when I go to Disneyland
