We arrived at Candy Cane after 8 p.m. and were instantly drawn towards the warm yellow lighting of the Reception House beaming from a garden of dimmed foliage. Reception was equally warm and remained so for every evening of our 5 days stay. But I cannot say so for the morning Reception – hardly a paragon of friendliness.
Candy Cane is pretty, with an upper floor balcony dripping leafy tendril and bougainvillea in a U-shaped wood and stone fixture hugging the Reception House. My family of three booked a Premium Room and enjoyed the floral bedspreads and country feels of the room. We loved the long vanity area outside the bathroom and our kid was delighted with the complimentary tub of goodies. The room was large and perfectly adequate for storage, with sufficient wardrobe space for hanging clothes. Good toiletries, good towels in plush and plentiful supply more than satisfied the wife. Air-conditioning was great and full control given over to the occupant for adjustment to own comfort.
We have an option for breakfast to be delivered to our room but chose to go down to the poolside for its expanded continental buffet, a bountiful spread of breads, muffin, cereals, fruits, drinks and beverage but after a few days we wished for some meats. No fault of the inn though.
Next to Candy Cane are a 7-Eleven and ABC-mart and opposite the road a cluster of fast food eateries for that quick meal, while an eight-minute walk takes you to Garden Walk and its wonderful Cheesecake Factory. The half-hourly shuttles for Disneyland are punctual and a very welcomed service though you may stroll there in ten minutes. Great location, well run and sweet Candy Cane is one place we would recommend as first choice when planning a stay in Anaheim.
