“The End of Anabella for us...”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

Our family and friends have been coming here for the past 10 years. When we first stayed here we love it! The past couple of years have been hit or missed with this last trip this past weekend a complete let down. The room was ok but clearly beat down. The pool was close on Sunday from 11-6 for a private party. Who closes a hotel pool on a Sunday? We have kids and were disappointed they couldn't hang out and swim before heading back to the park for round 2. The topper was waking up early Saturday morning only to be greeted by a huge bug on the floor! I wont mention what type it was but it was enough that my wife wanted to leave and go somewhere else for the rest of the trip. Now, to be fair the location is great, the service has been good. I mention the bug thing to the front desk and it was like nothing had happen. Not even a call from the hotel manager. I didnt expect anything from the hotel other than a call from a manager. Not the customer service I expected. Its been good for the bost part but its time to move on - specially the value for the money it is just not there anymore...sad.

Location was good about a 15 min walk from the Disney Park gates. Room clean a little on the small side but OK for a short stay. Our ground floor room down the end, while shaded was noisy at night with the sound of air cons., bouncing off the walls and people coming down the stairs. Great to have a laundry facility and pool area was good. Good food options nearby including a 7/11, would recommend for a no fuss short stay.

Room Tip: Noisy at the end in the 'court area', try to avoid a room near stairs

We have stayed here several times over many years because of the location but this year we adopted a rescue dog and they don't accept dogs (yes many web sites still say they accept them but they do not) so we have been staying elsewhere.

Stayed for 3 nights in a Casita Suite. Check in was fast even with trainee. Got to room and it was not right. Old slat blinds that did not close all the way. TV in armoir on same wall with door so you could not see it from the bed. We called and they sent maintenance guy. He put painters tape on the gaps around the blinds and angled TV in armoir said nothing else could be done and left. We turned on TV and could maybe see 1/4 of it from the bed. Even though they said they did not have another room over the phone we went back to front desk and asked for another room anyway. They sent us with bellman to look at 2 other Casita Suites. First one was the set up that we remembered with the loveseat at the foot of the bed and the TV on top of console facing the bed. It also had the shutters The 2nd room was occupied with the guests sleeping, OOPS! So we took the 1st room. We moved our stuff and went to dinner.

This room still had carpet. I found an M&M from previous guest on floor and the corners could use a good vacuum. Bed was comfortable. AC worked but is loud as right next to bed. Alarm clock had seen better days and took 2 nights to figure out how to work it right. Coffee pot on its last legs and took forever to brew. Shower drained slowly. Our rate included parking but it can be difficult to find a spot near your room when they are at high occupancy. We had a phone that looked like a wall phone (with no speed dails) that was put on the bedside table. No pen or paper.

Tangerine has been a problem for ages, but we had a coupon that was in the room for a free shortstack of pancakes and bacon with a breakfast purchase so we tried it again. Bad move. Service was slooooow. Eggs benedict coldish on untoasted muffin with way too much lumpy-ish sauce. Bacon was off tasting, one bite was enough. Check was not correct. Lots of people dressed up that looked like managers running around but I did not see them interact with any of the guests. Just go to Coco's across the street as they do breakfast right. We ate at Coco's 5 times over 3 days (they are open late and are on the walking route to the park) and had no problems and the food was good.

Other issues. Guests hanging laundry from railings both days. Room service trays that would sit outside all day. Kids running on the upper walkways and housekeeping and maintenance staff that would not stop them.

We will return when we don't have the dog with us, but quite frankly I can't understand why they don't accept them as my dog is better behaved than many of the kids and other guests I encountered at the property this trip, and even the new rooms we have been in or seen are not all that and a bag of chips.

Room Tip: Do not accept what they tell you on the phone if you do not like your room. Don't touch anything...

Well, the location was nice.

The room was small but fine, except for a shoddy covering over the circuit breaker. Our particular room, however, had laundry carts parked in front of it 24/7. They even blocked a car occasionally, and we had to circumnavigate the carts to get in our door. We were also next door to the staff break room, whose door was always open. That was a nice touch. Room ventilation was very poor, so we kept our window open, and were promptly woken each morning around 7:00 when the laundry workers came to work and started gossiping loudly right outside the window. This was truly lovely! Very private secluded feeling having the staff right outside.

The A/C unit was extremely loud, and the alarm clock's CD player didn't work.

Nice furnishings, but *horrible* room. They really shouldn't rent it.

Also, they told us it was $14 for parking. They didn't mention it was *nightly*! What a ripoff.

Room Tip: Request anything but room 8103.

We stayed at the Anabella on a trip to Disneyland. The rooms were clean and the staff very nice. When we booked our room online, we were given a $30 voucher for their restaurant. The food was delicious. The rooms were on the smaller side, but we will definately stay again!

We have chosen this hotel for our yearly family vacations, and few of these trips for just my husband and I so we have history staying on this property 1-2 times each year the last 3-4 years. My review is only based on my experience and I am not associated with this hotel or any staff.

Hotel and Rooms~
I absolutely love this hotel! All the rooms we have stayed in are comfortable and nice, I prefer the hardwoods rather than the carpeted rooms on ground level with patio. But they are not always available, this time we were placed upstairs in 1231. This room, as with the many others was nice. Noise level is noticeable but mostly everybody is staying with 2-5 kids and so it IS to be expected (duh).
Rooms have refrigerators, no microwaves, I don't microwave my food anyhow and the food is all fast food...who reheats that! Ew...

Pool~
Pool service is where most of my rating is~it has been for the last few visits of our stays so my expectations were not high. Our cocktails and snacks were ordered at the bar. We were asked a few times to check back to pick up our items since they were "busy"...I felt that comment should not have been made since I was just as important for service as the other guests. Rarely did we experience waitstaff checking in on us for cocktails and/or snacks...however starting Thursday and for the last 2 days of our stay we did have some poolside service, and we tipped graciously for it.
The family pool closed one day starting at 1pm for a private event...I wasn't happy about that~the other pool temperature is not as warm as the family pool, there is not enough seating for families and being squeezed in there pretty much sucked but we managed :o)

Housekeeping~
The housekeeping is great~and I want to emphasize GREAT. They are friendly and helpful and always smiling. Sweat beading on their faces cleaning those rooms, they deserve those tips people!

We have stayed at a few places in our last 10 years visiting Disneyland, including stays at the Disneyland Hotel (it is isn't perfect there either by the way)...and we are happy staying with the Anabella Hotel, and saved a thousand dollars doing so, I do hope management can take a bit more notice to the poolside service, but all in all we checked out happy~So home we go with blisters on our feet from 6 days of pounding the parks, and we cannot wait for our next visit!

We stayed at The Anabella for 6 Nights and had 2 rooms. Our family consisted of 3 generations and the hotel is great for families. We experienced exceptional personal assistance from the staff on the front desk from Tatiana through to Garrett the Manager. Nothing was an issue that could not be fixed. Thanks to Garrett and your team
