“Good value for families”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2009

This was a very good choice if you have a family, are spending your days at the park, and want a little privacy from the kids at the end of the day. We booked an "apartment" room. It had a king bed with doors and a curtain dividing the space and a bunkbed and kiddie table on the other side. (Parents bed near bathroom - kids near the window.) The mullion doors still let the light through to our side, while the opaque curtain allowed us some privacy after a long day at the park. We have 2 kids and it was nice to have a solution that allowed our boy and girl to have separate beds, afforded us privacy, and didn't force us to pay double to get an adjoining room. The staff was very friendly. Our room was very clean. They have a continental buffet in the morning with donuts and cereal but there was also a refrigerator in the room so we could bring our own food.

The hotel is a comfortable walk to the park (about 3/4mile). We parked at Mickey and Friends the first day because it looked like rain - what a nightmare....took us an hour to get in from the time we left the hotel. The second day we walked and were in the park in 25 minutes. Also walk is nicely landscaped and gets you off of the hustle of Harbor Blvd. It was nice to end the day walking through a quieter neighborhood than looking at the main strip. There is a Cheesecake Factory across the street so you can get a better quality lunch or dinner than the one you'd pay for in the park at the same price. And the CCF charges the same prices that they do at their other restaurants in other non resort cities so there is no sticker shock when you see the menu.

Conveniently located close to the Disneyland..which was our primary reason for visiting Anaheim. Very cheap and timely transport takes away your worry of commuting there.
The staff was again helpful with all the details to plan our 1 day trip to Disneyland.
We also ran into some very helpful guests at the hotel, who helped us plan well.
Not a very convenient place for someone who wants to hook up a laptop and catch up with some office work...the connectivity is poor. And so was the breakfast..nothing worth talking abt.
But at the end, served our purpose of travel well!

We think this hotel must be seriously affected by the downturn in economy as evidenced by the following:
Room Service:
1) Bare-bones staffing.
2) Cleanliness=filthy. Our child walked across the carpet twice in our room in white socks and held them up and they were black. Our maids threw our pillows on this filthy floor to make up the beds. I experimentally placed three things on the carpeting (not in the corners) the first day we arrived and they were not vacuumed up during the week we stayed there. Sheets are changed every three days. We came back from Disneyland one day to find gross gritty black stuff in our sink (did our sink back up while we were out?) Smelly bathrooms. My child and I visited Disneyland while my husband was in town on business. We seriously considered flying back home and then started looking into transferring to another hotel but there was no availability Easter week. We decided to "stick it out" and stayed out of the room as much as possible.
3) Speed of Room Service=often not done until after 4:00 p.m. even though they advertise you can ask for early room service to accommodate your children's naps.

Amenities:
1) Pool-advertised as "indoor" is located underneath the parking garage thereby affording the pool a roof, but no walls. Had to walk to the office every time we used the pool to ask for pool towels that were supposed to be available. The maintenance man only turned on the pool heater once during our week-long stay. Must be trying to save the electricity bill. It was extremely nice that an elevator opened right next to the pool.
2) Breakfast-advertised as "bright side and healthy" consists of biscuits and gravy, waffles and pancakes alternate every other day, doughnuts and pastries, toast, oranges are the only fruit, sugary cereals, juice, milk, and coffee. Never saw an egg or a piece of meat. The Holiday Inn Express has a much better and healthier breakfast.
3) Disneyland Park and Anaheim Transit Resort tickets are advertised to be available for purchase at the front desk. Two out of the three times we asked for them, they had none and we were advised to buy them across the street.
4) Internet availability-What a joke! This was not available in your room. You had to go to the lobby and the connection was very slow there.
5) Laundry room=trash all over the floor and lots of spilled soap and fabric softener on the two washers. I washed these off with wet paper towels myself. Two stacked dryers are available. It is extremely nice that the hotel is willing to give you quarters for the dryers in the lobby.
6) Parking garage underneath the hotel provides close parking.
7) Security at every door is nice, but the key cards only work a couple of times. Then you have to go to the front desk and have them make you new ones.
8) Noise Control-The hotel was full when we visited Easter week and was generally very quiet until breakfast was served in the morning. Don't plan to sleep in.
9) Layout-The rooms look much larger in the pictures. The children's room is separated from the parent's room by French doors with curtains. The bathroom is tiny. The children's room has a desk and a small table and chairs which was very nice for our child to color and play.
10) Appliances=One of our two televisions was not working. An iron and ironing board, coffemaker, microwave, refrigerator and hairdryer are available in the room.
11) Ice machine, video game room, exercise room with only two treadmills, and a gift shop are on site.
Location:
Within walking distance but seems like a long way at night when little ones are tired. There is a mall across the street from the hotel that has many nice restaurants. Fast food available within a mile.

Avoid this hotel. I found the rooms, hallways, service, odors and amenities all sub-par. My son and I stayed here for 4 nights at the end of March, 2009 as part of a school trip so we had no choice. I would have left immediately but we were stuck. A motel can be simple, but it does not have to be dirty. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to Disneyland so it is convenient, but surrounded by other low-budget hotels it has an "industrial prison" appearance inside and out. The concertina wire alongside the parking lot is especially inviting. With both elevators outside the lobby, you get the feeling that they do not want guests at the front desk. While checking in I noticed the ceiling of the lobby was full of water spots and most of the light fixtures had cobwebs. Not a good omen.

Day One - arriving about 11:30 PM we checked into our room. The room was thoroughly saturated with cigarette smoke. We opened the windows (maximum opening was 2 inches) and went to sleep, hoping that some fresh air would clean out the room. No such luck.

Day Two - My son and I went into the "Breakfast room" for the "Deluxe Continental Breakfast". The room is too small for the number of rooms, smells of old food, and has no fresh air. The room overlooks the back of a retail complex. The LQ website mentions "Eggs, hot entrees, fresh fruit, juice". The picture in the lobby of the "Bright Spot Breakfast" shows muffins, bagels, 3 types of fruit, oatmeal and juice. There were no eggs, the "Hot entree" was flour gravy over biscuits, the only fresh fruit were a few sliced oranges, the juice would be better labelled as "orange drink". Truly awful and we never returned. I stopped by the front desk to ask about the smell of smoke in the room. I was told that "All of our rooms are non-smoking". Mine must have been non-smoking only since the last guest checked out. The Front Desk clerk promised the housekeeping would thoroughly clean the room and "the smell would all be gone" We returned to our room later in the day and found that housekeeping had ......... done absolutely nothing. In fact our room had not even been cleaned. I asked for clean towels and a different room. We did move to another room and found it acceptable, as it was free from cigarette fumes. One minor issue with the second room was that the windows were sealed - no fresh air. The walls and doors also had stains, just as the first room.

Day Three - The hallways all smelled old and musty. Food is ground into the carpets, which feel sticky. Not once over 4 days did I ever hear a vacuum. I exited the hotel from the rear elevator and found the outdoor pool. The pool is bordered by the parking lot, two cinder-block walls, and an another building at the rear. The worst part is the the entire "outdoor pool" is covered by the motel rooms. There is literally a small patch of cement at the back of the pool, about 4 feet x 20 feet, where the sun actually touches the pool area for a few hours each day. The water in the pool looked oily and the water in the hot tub looked even worse. Swimming was out of the question.

Day Four - Couldn't wait to leave. High speed internet access is available only in the lobby. I think the towels were designed to prevent theft - they are so scratchy and rough. I truly believe that a motel can be budget-conscious and offer basic services, yet remain clean and comfortable. The La Quinta Inn and Suites at Anaheim/Disneyland was truly an awful experience and I recommend you avoid it. The Fitness Center consisted of two treadmills.

We statyed in Los Angeles for 5 days. Our stay with this hotel was very comfortable. Though the rooms are not very nice, it is a convenient place to stay with the kids and near to Disney Land.

The staffs are very friendly and their service was great. Breakfast was also good with many items but with same menu everyday.

It is an ideal place to stay with kids.

It was AWFUL. First room we were in was a kids' suite. We had more then thirty flea bites between our three children and had to be moved to another room. That night we had no water for three hours due to maintenance issues. The next two days had luke warm only at best. They double charged our card and then they had three randomn charges for $11.90 that they could not explain. The sheets were holey and the pool was never restocked with towels. For that amount of money, it was a FLEA bag and hated our stay. If it wasnt for the holiday week and all other hotels being booked solid, I would have left in a heartbeat. Never, ever again will I use a LaQuinta due to this experience.

We stayed here for 6 nights in Oct 2008. We chose this hotel because it had a fridge, coffeemaker, iron, laundry, and free breakfast. We paid $79 a night + tax. If we got this price again, we would definitely stay here. If the price is higher, we would look to see what else is available.

Hotel/Location: The hotel had 5 stories with a parking garage, pool, jacuzzi, inside corridors, laundry, gift shop, and internet. To access the elevators, you had to have a room key so that made us feel safe. The hotel had easy access to all major streets and the I5 freeway. There is lots of dining nearby. We did drive to Disneyland everyday since it was more convenient for us, but if you had to walk I would say it's a good 1/2-3/4 mile to the park entrance. The shuttle does have a stop right behind the hotel, so that's convenient. The price was $6pp for 2 days use.

Room: Overall the room was great because of its size and since it had a seperate living area. The room had 2 TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. The bathroom had the toilet and bathtub, and the sink was in the bedroom area which was kinda weird but not really a problem. There's a small fridge, small coffemaker, and a microwave. My biggest complaint is that the walls are paper thin. I mean paper thin. We could hear the other room's TV, even when our TV was on. It was hard to fall asleep and we are deep sleepers. To solve this, we bought a small fan to create white noise. Problem solved.

Food: The free breakfast buffet had hot and cold items (eggs, waffles, toast, cereal, fruits, donuts and danishes. Everything but the eggs were good.

We would definitely stay here again if the price is around $80 a night. Anything more than that, we'll probably shop around.
