“Not worth the money”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 9, 2013

I've stayed at this hotel many, many times. However, it's really not worth the money. The Disneyland Hotel has better service, larger and quieter rooms. This hotel does have it's own entrance into California Adventures but that really is the only reason to stay here. It's clean and of course safe but there are many hotels in the area for way less money...ie The Candy Cane Inn

Nice interior and great location, but the rooms are old. We originally thought there had been smokers in our room when we realized that our entire side of the fourth floor had the same musky smell, which was so strong that it smelled like smoke. The bathroom is very basic. For the price, the hotel rooms needed to be upgraded. Service is also very service. I think the problem is insufficient number of staff.

We stayed at the Grand Californian for six nights in late March 2013. The whole experience was great - from check-in to departure. Sure it is expensive but the rooms were clean and well equipped, the beds were comfortable, and we had no noise issues. The lobby is a bit dark but the open fire was nice and the TV for the kids is a nice addition. The food and service at the restaurants were also fine, although not outstanding. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The queue to get into the park from the hotel in the mornings was always very long and you lost most of the extra hour standing in the queue. Overall, it was a good experience and we will probably stay there again.

The Grand Californian is not only great because of its location (middle of downtown disney) But also because of the great service provided. I stayed for conference in April, and was delighted by the friendliness of the staff, As well as the cleanliness of the hotel. I really do recommend this hotel to any family wishing to stay close to Disneyland.

The only negatives were: expensive Casual eateries within the hotel, & Expensive room service ($16 for a latte!?). Thats it.

We stayed in this hotel April 4-72013 and had a wonderful time. 5 adults, 1 teenage, 2 young girls in a three bedroom suite. There was a balcony off of each bedroom. The best part is the location, super close to all the attractions. The downside - as a previous visitor to DisneyWorld hotels, it wasn't as "Disney" as I expected. No towel animals, no special "Disney" behavior. This was more of an adult hotel vs a child oriented hotel. There is a waterslide in the pool. Georgeous pool area - three hot tubs, three pools, drink service. But it overall wasn't super child oriented. Which, depending on the guests was a good thing. The kids got plenty of "Disney" magic while they were in the parks, just not what I expected as a previous guest of a Disneyworld hotel. This is a large hotel and quite expensive. The ONLY real complaint is that the hotel houskeeping did managed to throw out my daughters retainer and I am still in the process of getting that small issue worked out - I beleive they should be responsible to replace it and I keep getting the run around from lost and found, houskeeping, and the front desk - but as of right now I think a very good rating is appropriate. I may change my mind depending on our correspondence.

Room Tip: Fitness center is free for those with rooms. Nice perk, decent facility.

Very accommodating. Love that there is a TV on all the time with cartoons in the lobby for kids to watch while mom and dad browse the gift shop or check in, complete with child sized rocking chairs. The hotel is beautiful and "grand". We loved going through the back entrance directly into CA Adventure. Its so nice to bypass the crowds going through the main gate and the main security check. The hotel is pricey of course, but you get outstanding service, a beautiful room, and special perks for staying at a Disney hotel. Also, there is an upper balacony open to guests for a view of the World of Color show. Its not a perfect view and no chairs, but its still nice to see. NOW, if you are looking for a really "Disney" feeling hotel (especially for kids, but not sickly characterized), I highly recommend you stay at the Disneyland Hotel instead. See my review there.

The room was above average, and at times somewhat noisy. I have to say the best part is the Hotel gate into the park and ease of getting back into the hotel for taking an afternoon nap. The service is pretty good if you are not a picky person. The price per night is about 300 to much a night....Its just to expensive for what you recieve...
