“Nice Stay!”
Reviewed June 14, 2014

The room was great with a great view of the park. (Room 1402) I will kind of echo what one of the other reviewers stated that yes it is pricey but if you want extra magic hours everyday then it is worth it. We have two little ones (6yr old and 4yr old) so the extra magic hours were worth it. I will also say going through the lobby of the Grand Californian was very convenient. We once left our room 1402 in the afternoon and made a fastpass for RSR in 15 minutes. We only dined our property once, but we ate at both of the other Disney Hotels (Whitewater Snacks and Trader Sams). Also, If anyone thinks the walk from Paradise Pier is long, I take it they have never been to WDW. I have walked more to get to the bus stop at WDW than getting into the park at DL. I would stay here again, but would love to try the other Disney hotels here first. The Grand Californian seemed very convenient to getting into California Adventure with Soarin and Grizzly River Run like less than a three minute walk from the lobby of the hotel. Wow! I mainly choose Paradise Pier this time because it was a lot cheaper than the other two and we got it on sale. Plus, We ate at the Surfs Up Breakfast one morning with Mickey and it was nice that it was just downstairs. The buffet was very nice. I enjoyed a lot of the buffet items, but the chilaquiles with roasted tomatilla salsa was a great addition to the breakfast items and breakfast pizza with chorizo. They also have waffles, pancakes, eggs, fruit, and juices ect. Overall, everything in the hotel was very nice. My kids also loved the slide since it was not connected to the pool and just had a shallow pool at the end.

large rooms with refrigerators, portacribs and irons in every closet, nice amenities. Great activities for kids...from a young kid friendly water slide, organized games at the pool, an arcade, a movie/tv room. microwaves and condiments/supplies at the edge of the restaurant. Many complimentary perks. only downside was the price was much more than neighboring motels (except the rest of the "Disney" hotels) and the restaurant was a bit slow and could have had kid friendlier options.

Room Tip: many rooms on the 3rd floor by the pool have patios and tables/chairs. None of the other rooms have...

From the time we checked in till the day we checked out everyone was very friendly. The room was nice & clean. The only thing we did not like was the A/C is on a motion sensor, so if your not in the room all day you come back to a hot room. Or if you don't move during the night it gets hot.

We stayed for one night. When we arrived early, about 11:30, we were told we would be paged when the room was ready and that was a little after 3:00 that we received the page while we were in the Park. We had no trouble with leaving our car in the garage and proceeding to the Park for the day. However, please know that you have to pay to park your car even if you are a guest at the hotel. I understand this is a common practice...but, come on, the room was over $400 a night!! This hotel just okay. There is nothing fancy about it and it is obviously converted from some other hotel that was there long before Disney decided to expand. We had a safe and a fridge in the room and that was good. Bed was comfortable and the window opened slightly for fresh air. Since we were there for one night, we simply changed clothes there, freshened up and got to bed late when the Park closed. We got up early and left and we were able to leave our car for the duration of the day as we spent it at the California Adventure Park before going home. It was good for the fact we stayed on the Disney property and the ease that provides. I found the lobby plain and some of the restaurants, shops seemed deserted and very quiet even in the middle of the afternoon when we came back to get our car. I would not eat there when there are many options outside that seem lively and much more charming. It is a short walk to the Monorail and longer to the California Adventure Park. There is a nice pool on the third floor. If you want a view of the California Adventure Park, you need to ask for a "premium view"...otherwise, you will be looking at a parking lot. I won't stay there again even though it is the least expensive of the three hotels. I would go back to the Disneyland Hotel and pay the slightly higher price because I believe it is so much more worth it. And, you are closer to the Park. The Grand Californian would be my next choice after that only because it is right in the thick of it and in the middle of Downtown Disney. Also, it appears that anyone who is in Downtown Disney (a public venue) can enter Disneyland through the monorail with a Park ticket. I was under the impression that you could only enter the Monorail to Disney if you were a guest at the hotel At least, that is why I used to stay at the Disneyland Hotel. So, there are, what seems to be more crowds and anyone can enter with a valid ticket....to a very, very crowded Disneyland. I will go back but I will not stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the California Adventure Park or you will enjoy a view of the parking lot....b...

We stayed at Paradise Pier the first week of June 2014. I read many reviews prior to our stay and want to use this review to not just give you our experience but address many of the points previous folks have talked about.
First, the cost of the hotel. Yes, it is pricey in relation to the Good Neighbor hotels. In our minds, one must decide what is important to them. I'll go on the assumption that you are staying at the hotel as part of a Disneyland vacation. If you and your family are willing to get up early and utilize Extra Magic Hours (7am open for us, in line by ) getting on many favorite attractions with little or no wait and enjoying empty streets in the parks, then the cost of this hotel is likely worth it. If you like being immersed in the Disney magic, being able to watch fireworks from the pool deck with music piped in, like the traditional Disney service, and treasure little things like your child getting a wake up call from Mickey Mouse himself, then the cost is likely worth it. If your response to these was "meh" then I would suggest a different hotel.
Second, the room - it was very spacious. We were on the 4th floor, with not much of a view except the pool deck. We weren't in the room much more than to sleep so it didn't matter to us. Our room (443) was far north side, 4th floor. This allowed us to to take 6 steps and walk 4 easy flights of stairs every morning and within 90 sec be at the corner to cross the street to the Grand Californian/Downtown Disney/Parks. This was much preferable to backtracking to the elevators. I can't comment on the oft heard problems with the elevators in the mornings because of this. The times we did use them there were no problems. Each room has mini fridge and safe for valuables. Water pressure in the shower was low but that's a stretch to complain. I did read complaints about wifi and I did have a problem at night but never during the afternoon when we returned to our room for a midday nap. As any techie will tell you, wifi speeds vary based on the number of people accessing it at that time.

I can't stress enough how great the extra magic hours are, but if you aren't the type willing to get up early enough to use it, don't bother with this hotel. If you are willing however, this hotel was a great place for us and we would definitely stay here again. Although, I think we would like to try the other disney hotels just to do something different.

We recently travelled to the States from Australia with our 3 children. We spent the 1st 8 nights of our trip down in Anaheim and stayed at the Paradise Pier. We loved this hotel, the room more than accommodated our family of 5 and the lounge that flipped down into a single bed was well received by our son. We chose to pay the extra and include the concierge level which included a theme park room, we were on the 14th floor and the view from the room of California Adventure was awesome! We could even see the World of Colour every night as well as the projected pictures in it. The concierge level was fantastic with a cold breakfast every morning, snacks throughout the day and a light hot snack bar at night with desserts and between 5-7pm was free beer and wine. Tabitha in the concierge room was such a lovely girl and she knew our drink order down pat by the end of our stay, you get unlimited water and soft drinks in the concierge room also. As much as I am so glad we did the concierge level, I probably would skip it the next time. The advantage of staying in a Disney property is the magic morning, 1 hour early into the parks. It made life easier getting into the parks earlier than the general public as we got to do Radiator Springs Racers, all the Cars land rides, the monsters inc ride twice in a row, the Toy Story Mid way mania ride, California Screamin, Space Mountain, and a lot of other rides over the 4 days we were there without having to spend ages in line and then we could race and get fast passes for the likes of Splash Mountain as soon as it opened. The atmosphere in the Paradise Pier is so homely and we did the Surf's Up Character Breakfast which the kids loved and included Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Stitch and Pluto. The pool at the hotel is also great with life vests provided for little kids or weak swimmers and I did also see that they supply swimming nappies for younger kids. Our kids loved the slide and our younger one had a ball in the kiddy pool. They also have a pool party where cast members interact and play games with the kids in the pool area. The guest services people were always helpful in answering our questions and my son would of lived in the gift shop if I let him which was well stocked. The kids movie area keeps the kids entertained as does the games room, the laundry facilities are also great. The vicinity to the parks and downtown Disney was great and I would definitely stay here on our next trip to Anaheim.

We stayed in a park view room and were overall impressed with the Hotel. We arrived at about 1 p.m. and stored our luggage and visited Disneyland for a few hours before returning for our room to be ready. The room had a great view of the park and an excellent view of the World of Colour display at night.
The short cut to downtown Disney via the Grand California Hotel was handy and only a 10 minute walk had us in the parks.
We had a late flight out and on check-out day we stored our bags and the staff both at bell services and concierge were helpful with luggage and transport arrangements.
We have previously stayed at the Sheraton Park which is also a good hotel and a bit cheaper, however the location and view from Paradise Pier is worth the extra if you're attending for a short stay.
P.S. The gym was closed for renovation whilst at the hotel and I do find it annoying that hotel sites do not clearly state this well in advance when bookings are made.
Overall we had a pleasant stay and would return.
