If you are walking from a Good Neighbor Hotel to Disneyland, Downtown Disney is worth a "glance" at the least. Of course, the Disney Store offers a wide range of items. And, with nearby eateries and other gift shops, a family could easily spend a few hours exploring. If anything, for families with limited time in the park, Downtown Disney may provide an extra hour or so after the park closes to do some souvenir shopping.

Yes, the area is nothing different than a "strip mall" of sorts. However, our family enjoyed the thematic decorations of each business, and quite frankly, some stores in the area are not available in western South Dakota. Simply walking through the area is relaxing either before or after "playing" in the park.

The Mexican restaurant was our favorite. The table-side guacamole was fantastic. The margaritas were pretty awesome too. We also ate outside for lunch at another place, sorry forgot the name! Great appetizers and a wonderful place to relax with friends. Nice little silver shop just a few steps away that enticed us ladies into a few purchases! Can't wait to come back next year!

There's a lot to do in Downtown Disney, even if you don't plan on spending any money or shopping. Lots to see, especially in the World of Disney store. People watching, the bands performing in the middle of the center, and other fun stuff. If you do plan on spending money, the eateries are fun, tasty, and a little pricey of course. Otherwise it's a great place to go to for about 4 hours or less.

We had to walk through Downtown Disney outdoor mall to get from the Disneyland Hotel to the parks. There were just the usual mall store chains, with a few extra Disney stores thrown in, plus the usual mall restaurants. A Starbucks is planning to open there soon, which will be a very welcome addition. The pathways were lined with cart selling all kinds of sugary junk food. It seems like just another opportunity for Disney to make money, but not worth stopping at.

There's a decent amount of shopping and restaurants to choose from. The Lego store is super cool and it has the coolest looking rainforest cafe I've ever seen!
