After reading the reviews here and on another site we expected what we saw: a 4.5 star resort. What was arrived at was a 3.5 star gated hotel. This was a trade for a week for our timeshare. We had a one bedroom unit. There was only a wall mounted a/c unit in a corner of the living room, so we had to keep all the fans on just to get the bedroom and bathroom cooled off at all. One of us is handicapped and there is no elevator. The pull out couch was almost impossible to sleep on. The grounds were nicely kept within the buildings, but the parking lot was often dirty. The rooms were very nice although all the closet space was in the bathroom to share leaving privacy an issue. These are not things we expect from a 4.5 star rating. They do have some crafty events but most of it was focused on children. The pool and hot tub were great and the room over all was very nice, but I would probably not stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure to get a room with in an interior garden view, otherwise you get too look at the parking lot.

Be aware of a couple of points when staying at the Dolphin Cove Resort. It is NOT close to Disneyland--you will either need to drive or take the bus, which costs $3-$4. Only the master bedroom and living room has an air conditioning unit, but the other rooms have ceiling and floor fans. You need to situate the floor fans in such a way to get the cool air directed to the other bedrooms. This is very difficult as there are very few outlets in logical places for that. I would suggest bringing one or two extension cords.
Other than those two items, this is a very nice place--older, with a few problems with dry rot on the upstairs decks, but quiet, a nice setting, and plenty of room. The beds are hard for some people who do not like hard beds. The twin beds in the 3rd bedroom can be moved to allow room for a porta-crib, which they can supply.
As long as you have a car, this is a good place to stay in Anaheim.

Room Tip: No elevators, so ask for a ground floor room if you don't want to haul everything up the stairs.

By far the dirtiest place I have been to. We walked into the unit and I had a completely uneasy feeling about this place. Carpet was dingy and had a funky odor. The whole place was filthy. The kitchen floor had not been cleaned. The bedrooms were small. The bedspread was old and dirty. We walked in and immediately booked a hotel for the night. I couldn't get out of there fast enough! I am not a person that needs a fancy place to stay either. I couldnt bear to have my children in that space..Dolphin's Cove was absolutely disgusting. I am amazed that this place is still in business!

Room Tip: Do not stay here!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit (#503) located on the ground floor at the rear of the 5 acre property 3/4 of a mile from Disneyland. It was a great and quiet unit. The living room has a pull out queen sleep sofa for extra guests. The full kitchen was well stocked. The unit has a very nice outside patio. It did not have a washer/dryer but there were laundry facilities on the premises. The grounds are beautiful with palm trees, lawns, gas BBQ, pool, and spa. It was a very relaxing, park-like atmosphere. There is a small market/liquor store across the street and a Denny's restaurant next door. Von's market and Target are approximately 1/2 mile from the resort.

Room Tip: First floor units in the rear of the resort are ideal.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment for 7 nights. We had 4 adults and 4 kids aged 8-13. The resort allowed us to hire 2 trundle beds which allowed us to put our youngest child in the main room with us and the other 3 kids shared the twin room with a trundle bed in between the 2 beds, snug but it allowed us to keep the lounge as a lounge and let the adults stay up and chat. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. They fixed a few minor issues and brought extra towels after cleaning staff did not leave enough.
I had read reviews prior to our stay but found the room to be clean and well set out. Slightly dated but great for families. We spent all our time during the days either at the parks or tours round LA and came home exhausted every night. We used the cooking facilities to save money, but our last couple of nights we became great fans of Denny's. The kids loved the pool and I loved the hot tub.
We wish we could have stayed longer.
