We stayed here for the first time about a week ago. The facility is fabulous. We did get a free upgrade and the room was very nice. It is a brand new hotel and the decor, furniture, etc. is very elegant without being too over-the-top. Our bathroom was huge with amazing walk-in showers and a huge tub! The pool is also fabulous. It is clean and at night they have fires all around the pool area. You really feel like you are at a luxury hotel.
However, maybe because the hotel is new (or maybe not) we experienced several service glitches. First, the check in line was VERY long. Second, the pool cabana had no towels left so we had to find someone and ask them to re-stock it. Third, they have some serious room to grow in being family friendly. Now I get that a casino is NOT meant to be family friendly, but for many locals like ourselves, the addition of a hotel means we can bring the kids AND have some adult fun as well! And there were quite a few kids there so obviously this is a common thing. Unlike other area casinos (like Barona) you can't even WALK through the casino with a child - so we were not at all able to get food from the restaurants unless we wanted to go to the buffet. We tried to call in and order to pick up, but were told we had to go down in person and order; no call-in orders allowed. Then we tried to get to the outlets across the street (another kid friendly place) but could not even get to the walkway since we couldn't walk through the casino (even asked if we could get a security escort just to WALK a few feet to the walkway). The only other way to get to the outlets is a LONG way outside, with many stairs (um, hello, no strollers or wheelchairs) or pretty much walk on the busy road.
So although we loved the hotel, I'm not sure we would return since we really can't enjoy the experience as a family. This is very much opposite from the experience we have had at several other casinos that welcome kids in the food areas until a certain time (obviously, we are not going to bring our kids to eat dinner at midnight so that policy makes sense and works well!) and then we can enjoy the gambling later after the kids go to bed. However, if you are going just as a couple and really aren't too picky about the service, then you will probably enjoy this hotel especially if you ask for a room upgrade!
