“local hapennin' place”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

This place is great for people watching as well as eating. come here on a Friday night or Saturday night to watch the locals make fools of themselves and stuff themselves silly on the great selection of entrees. The chips are good, the salsa is excellent, the selection and quality of the food is great. They have a Sunday brunch, with tons of fresh fruit, to gorge yourself on. Good margaritas, as well.

“Great Mexican”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

This restaurant is almost a landmark in Alameda...formerly named and still referred to as "La Pinata." Serves food late for bar-goers, and even has Mexican breakfast. There are other options in town, but this is one of the best.

“Excellent spot - good food and good service”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

We were in Alameda for a family event, and as I don't often have access to good Mexican food in my country, I was looking for an authetic Mexican restaurant at reasonable prices. Mission accomplished! This friendly restaurant hit all the right notes: a full and varied menu, friendly and attentive service, lively atmosphere and very tasty food. I ordered classic guacamole plus a combo of three options and was super satisfied with each. The guacomole was fresh and flavourful, and I've never seen such a large chille relleno! The restaurant was full when we arrived, but once seated, our service was very quick. This is a family owned and run restaurant and it shows in their attention to customer service. I recommend this restaurant for casual dining, I would definitely go back if I'm in the area again.

“Quick service - even when busy - and tasty food.”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

Went to this restaurant on a busy Thursday night at prime time with a coworker. Referred here by a local, and glad we were.

While we had to wait 10 to 15 minutes for a table, the drinks were delivered quickly and the food did not take very long considering how busy the kitchen must have been.

The place is very large and seats a LOT of people. The fact that it was full seemed like a good sign. The good news is, we were happy with both the food and the service. The menu is large with a lot of options. Prices in all categories. We went the cheap route, two drinks and a smaller entree for each of us. Cost was about $20 per person (not including tip). Food was hot and totally satisfactory, I cannot say anything particularly good or bad about it, kind of what I have come to expect for a relatively high volume Mexican restaurant.

Would go back for another casual, inexpensive (but tasty) dinner if in the area again.
