First, the downside. This place is located in a corner of a run of the mill strip mall. Everything else is absolutely great. The owner is the host. He is jovial and welcoming, and was appreciative that I attempted 5 of the 10 Italian words I remembered from our trip a couple of years ago. The restaurant is elegant: white table cloths and candles. Our server was personable and professional. The complimentary bread was wonderfully fresh and flavorful. The food was absolutely delicious, with interesting twists on Italian classics. Our waiter's recommendation for a local red wine was spot on. We chatted him up on a very quiet Wednesday evening, and he brought us each a mini-cannoli, gratis. He could not have known that my wife and I had flown across country earlier that day to see her gravely ill sister and had just come back from the hospital. And we ordered a very light meal, just a glass of wine and two entrees. I look back on this experience as a positively magical. Though I think the place survives on satisfied locals and guests from a couple of nearby hotels, it is worth a drive. Grazie, Grissini!
