“A great honeymoon living up to our expectations.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2010

My husband had passed through for lunch two years back. He told be about what he had seen. We chose it for our honeymoon and were not disappointed. So nice to be among the tall trees, and no city noises. We didn't even miss not having cell phone service.

This was our second time staying at the lodge. On both occasions, the staff have been friendly and accomodating, and welcomed us like family. Our cabin was rustic, yet clean, and their location in the Arizona White Mountains is breathtaking and tranquil. A campfire with other travelers in the evening, under a blanket of stars, is a regular event and a great way to unwind. We enjoyed the meals provided in the restaurant, as well as the available activities such as hiking, trail rides, nearby fishing, and games and puzzles provided at the lodge. Keep in mind that there is no cell phone service or TV (although there is wi-fi available in the lodge), adding to the lodge's rustic surroundings.

It was a great trip. If you are looking for "remote", this is the place to be. Great food. Don't expect to come and get work done because you are "dis-connected" from the outside world. The area is absolutely spectacular. I would highly recommend. We will be going back.

After reserving our three cabins at Hannigans Meadow we read some of the reviews and our son made the comment, "Well, it is better than camping." We were expecting run down, out dated cabins and we were not going to sleep in the beds. We took a pile of bedding, and essentials like toilet paper. Boy were we surprised when we went from cabin to cabin comparing the facilities. It was everything we would have wanted and more. We did sleep in the beds, great bathrooms, very clean and comfortable. The only millers flying around were the ones we let in. No mice at night, heater worked fine, and the squeeky floor added to the memories. We will definately go to Hannigans Meadow and take our whole family. Wild Bill was a character from a movie set. He started a fire in the fire ring and told stories every night.

The Room was excellant had sitting room and the bedroom and bathroom separate. excellant view of the meadow. Also Great hiking trailsin walking distance. The lobby has
free wifi and game area with a fireplace. The dining room has a western feel with wooden beams and a rustic tables. The Staff at the lodge was very personal and caring.

We enjoyed the Trip and the experience.

When they say the cabins are rustic they need to know there is a differance between rustic and poor workmanship and not doing repairs. When we got there the cabin was not ready. After about 45 minuite they finished cleaning but the cabin needed much more than that. We noticed the front window had been broken some time ago and had been repaired with tape. The tape had been on the window so long it had fallen off and all that was left was the glue stain from the tape.

They did tell us that the propane heater would turn off and the pilot would go out. They did not know why but they said it would relight for us if we follow the instructions. They were right however I don't really think I should have to get up at night because it got too cold to light the pilot to turn the heat back on.

The small stove had to be lit with matches as the starter on it did not work. As you started to turn down the flame a bit it went out instead so you had to cook on too high of heat so that was a challenge as well.

We had been told the peach cobbler was great so we ordered a piece to go. We brought it back to the cabin and it was cold and never had been cooked. It appeared to be canned peaches with a raw dough.

It is funny that we desided to get a cabin so we could take our dog with us. After about 1 hour in the cabin she wanted to go outside so I put on her leash and took her out. She went to the car and whined at the door. She was right. While we paid for two nights one was more than enough and we left first thing in the morning.
