We always use Maestro for special occasions. The food is uniformly excellent. The service is exceptional - probably the best currently in Auburn. Our only complaint has been others in the restaurant who have been loud, rude or demanding to waitstaff - who always handle these incidents with aplomb.

It started with opening the door and being assaulted by a bad fishy smell and wound up with the "chocolate damnation" which was so pathetic it wasn't worth a damn, much less damnation.

Every dish we tried was either underwhelming or too salty or bland or weirdly flavored or some combination thereof. Not to mention the price was outrageous for quality food and service.

Auburn really needs a restaurant for those that enjoy the finer culinary arts but this ain't it.

We dined at Maestro 2300 last night, arriving about 6:15 p.m. We were greeted by two welcoming hostesses and shown to a table for two with a crisp white tablecloth in a beautiful dining room.
Our waited was entirely friendly, well-dressed, very familiar with the menu and how the food is prepared. He was helpful but did not "hover," He explained the special summer menu which gives the guest the choice of two courses for $20.
The food was outstanding!
We ordered an appetizer of calamari with aubergine olives, pepperoncini & capers. Delicious! My husband said it was the best calamari he'd had since he lived in Athens.
For dinner, my husband ordered from the special summer menu and chose: black angus medallion which was served with asparagus and mashed potatoes and a delicious sauce. I also ordered from the summer menu and had chicken piccata. It was very good too.
We each selected a dessert from the summer menu: He had mango creme brulee and I had tres leche cake. Both were beautifully presented and amazingly delicious.
When we were finished, the waiter explained the restaurants events for each evening of the week. We want to go back!

This is our second visit to this restaurant. Both times we have enjoyed every aspect of the experience -- food, wine list, service and decor. The menu is interesting, and the food quality and preparation are excellent. Maybe prices would seem to make it a bit of a treat, but the quality really makes it a very good value.
