Driving north on I-65 we were looking for someplace to eat. If you are familiar with I-65 you know that once north of Mobile there are long stretches with very little to offer in the way of interesting dining. We decided to take a chance when we saw the sign for Chesters and Diner. Both are located in the same building. Chesters is simply a fried chicken stand in the travel plaza while the diner is a sit down restaurant with a limited but good menu.

We were greeted by friendly staff who remained attentive without being over bearing during our visit.

We tried the fried catfish basket and found the fish to be perfect. We also tried their onion straws which were different but acceptable. All in all it is a pleasant place with good food making a delightful break in the drive between Mobile and Montgomery.

There is a senior menu, or at least senior prices on some of the meals.

We have not taken the I-65 corridor route to reaching Atlanta in some years primarily due to the lack of non fast food places along so much of the route. This is a pleasant surprise and we will be more open to reusing this route because of the Diner.
