“Washington Hilton”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2013

We stayed at the Washington Hilton in April for 2 nights. It was a great Hotel with good facilities. The fitness centre was superb and it has a lovely outdoor pool (unfortunetly it was shut while we were there).
The restaurant food was very good and there is a coffee shop on site and free Wii Fii in the reception areas.
Local tour buses stop outside and its easy to get to some great restaurants.
There were 8 adults staying together and we all really enjoyed the Hotel.

I am so glad to hear you and your friends enjoyed your time at the hotel. I am sorry the pool was closed during your visit. We hope you will come back again this summer to enjoy it.

The hotel may look old from the outside but I was surprised on how the room is nice and updated. Bathroom vanity is really nice. Not much space but not bad, very clean. close to Woodley Park metro and a safe place to walk around.

We got a terrific price for our stay through Hotwire (less than half of the price found through the Hilton website or other sites like Kayak). Even so, I'd really like to know why budget hotels furnish complimentary microwaves and mini-fridges but top of the line hotels charge extra (a lot extra) for this amenity. I don't think that top of the line hotels like the Hilton should charge for this amenity and parking "just because they can".

Parking was an outrageous $36 per day and the use of a mini-fridge cost $25. We wanted to refrigerate our meal left-overs that we brought back to the room with us but we could just buy another meal for the price of the use of the mini-fridge, so it wasn't worth it.

We've stayed in plenty of Hilton Hotels and have always had good experiences with Hilton. This hotel was no exception. The beds were extremely comfortable, the rooms were well-furnished and everything was clean. However, the concierge was a little less than helpful when we asked for sight-seeing information. We were referred to the Tour and Transportation Desk, even though we were trying to avoid the tourist-trap bookings. The sales clerk at the Tour and Transportation Desk was friendly and helpful but of course his job is to sell tours.

We did end up purchasing a Big Bus tour partially because my mother uses a wheelchair and and Big Bus picks up at the Hilton every 30 minutes or so. This location is still a good 10 minute walk to the metro line. We were a bit disappointed with Big Bus because even though they advertise live tour guides only some (not all) of the buses have live tour guides. The ones that are not staffed with a live tour guide offer headphones for listening to an audio recording. We took the night time Monuments Tour as well (combination day/night package) and the driver Ana went out of her way to bring us and several other customers back to the Hilton at the end of the nighttime tour.

As stated by other customers, the hallways are very long in this particular Hilton but we were lucky to get rooms near the elevator. There are two nice bars in this hotel and free wi-fi but only in the lobby. Sometimes you just want to sit around in your pajamas in bed late at night and access the internet but if you want to do it here, you have to pay extra. Again - why do better hotels charge extra for these amenities when they are free in budget hotels?

There were several gift shops located off of the lobby area and complimentary flavored water was offered in the lobby. Overall, this was a nice hotel in a good location, just be prepared for the extra expenses.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the elevators if you don't want to walk a long way each time you want to go...

The Washington Hilton is a lovely place to stay. Every staff member we dealt with was friendly and accomodating. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. For such a large property, this is the quietest hotel we have ever stayed in. No neighbor noise. No sounds of water from showers in other rooms early in the morning. No noisy hallways. About 19 blocks to Union Station, but only about 12 cab fare and there is aways a taxi at the ready. We will absolutely stay here again.

4 night stay with family while in DC for work meetings. Hotel is overrun with conference guests, which makes the bar/restaurant/cafe/amenities a little inaccessible to smaller groups. Friendly staff, given one night of free wifi access after complaining about the $10+ charge for internet in the room (you can also access free wifi in one section of the ground floor, near the breakfast area). The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Dupont Circle metro, so while it's technically more central than the Woodley Park-area hotels, it is further away from public transportation.

Stayed for a business conference. The hallways are long, but quiet. Room was nice. We needed a little extra help from the facilities/ conference staff. They helped us out. I can't ask for much more than that.
Concierge pointed us to a nearby park for our toddler.
The breakfast buffet isn't included, but the custom cooked items on the buffet were really good. One of the chefs I had was very funny, which helps early in the morning.

While the entire staff from the people in the gym to the bar to the front desk were all great, I'd like to give special recognition to Eric Mata. He works at the front desk. He deserves a perfect 10 in all areas ranging from his greetings, importance he places on guests' comforts, ability to solve problems in a most expedited manner, and overall professionalism. The Hilton Washington is lucky to have him. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the DC area. You won't regret it. Oh and did I mention the superb location? Can't say enough good things about this hotel and its staff.
