“One of the best I've ever stayed at”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

I have traveled the world and found the service beyond any other. From the doorman, front desk, exceptional concierge service, one of the best room service and a fantastic room on top of it all. The best location in Washington too. I will be back and will recommend to everyone. Thanks for a great vacation.

Spent one night at the Willard. I looked forward to see how it balanced its enormous history with modern day needs. Its location is perfect for DC especially if one has an event at The White House! First of all, the staff and service at this property are top notch. From the front desk, the Concierge (special thanks to Robert Watson, the Chief Concierge and former president of Les Clef' D'Or), the bell stand, housekeeping, bartenders, and everyone else. Our bed was supremely comfortable. The bathroom is perhaps its weakest point. The fixtures are outdated, the water pressure in the shower was low and the toiletries are a little underwhelming.

Still, i had the best night sleep in weeks and would return in a heartbeat.

Dear motowninchapelhill,

I love your review as it is so true that a hotel today must live up to the reputation yet the travelers needs are ever evolving. While we remain classic in decoration, behind the scenes technology is a never ending worthy investment. From Chapel Hill, I know how important that must be for you (although you did not mention it). Thank you for the constructive criticism on the bathroom and we will look into the details you mention. Thank you for your kind words on the staff and especially our Chef Concierge and his knowledge of the city. We look forward to your next visit.

Sincerely,

This is a classic hotel. Bell Hops, 24 hour dining, room service and all.
Very central to all attractions. And on the Mall.
The White House is a couple of minutes walk. Has nice restaurants very close by.
In hotel dining is very expensive and Internet is at a charge of 12.5$ per day in this age and time.

Th the staff is very courteous and friendly. Rooms are well stocked and comfortable. The decor of the hotel is very classic and not modern. It is lovely. The lobby has very spacious and comfortable seating.

The windows In the room let in a lot of street noise.
No guest laundry.

Room Tip: Stay away from the main street

Dear Mohitoswal,

Thank you for your kind review. The Willard InterContinental’s location is unique. It truly is easy to navigate around this beautiful city from the hotel, whether for the attraction or the numerous culinary offerings. Cafe du Parc does offer some very attractive daily specials and has some of the finest French cuisine in town. Once again, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to write this review and I do hope to welcome you back in the near future.

When we booked our 4th of July weekend in Washington DC we decided that we wanted to be in the middle of the action and to pamper ourselves a bit. The Willard Hotel was the right choice! The location is perfect. No need to fight the crowds on The Mall, we sat at our table in the Cafe du Parc and enjoyed dessert while watching the fireworks over the trees.

We stayed in a "family room" which included a bedroom with two queens and a living room with a dining table and a pull out couch. The room has 1.5 baths. The full bath was a bit strange but I believe that's because it's made to be wheel-chair accessible.

The lobby is gorgeous and the staff couldn't be more accommodating. The front desk staff were especially gracious to my 82 year old mother and her internet/wifi requests. They really helped her enjoy her first trip to our nation's capitol and for that I am very grateful!

Dear Eileen G,

This was my first 4th of July experience in Washington, D.C. and I have to say that it was spectacular. Your choice of were to watch the fireworks was a great one. The Café du Parc terrace offers al fresco dining which does allow for people to firework watch and enjoy great food and beverages (hopefully you tried what I consider to be one of the best hazelnut crème brulee) at the same time. I'm so glad that you were able to spend time with your mother and that she was well taken care of.

Sincerely,

We chose this hotel because of the great reviews and location. We don't usually stay in historical hotel because we prefer modern amenities. When we checked in on July 1 and asked about the internet service, we were told that they were in the process of upgrading so we wouldn't have the access until July 3 so we had to use their business center instead. The room was updated and good in size but the shower and faucets had low water pressure. I just hoped that being a 5 star hotel they should at least give the guests adequate water pressure but not trying to save the water. The staffs are very nice and the concierge gave us great tips on where to go for the best views of the fireworks. We dine at both Cafe Du Parc and Occidental Grill. The Occidental Grill was a little disappointing with their limited menu. My husband ordered the grilled Salmon and it came out raw ( totally red inside) and the waiter said some like it raw but he didn't order sashimi!! We liked going to the Corner Cafe which was just across the street for breakfast. They have great baked goods and hot breakfast for a reasonable price.
The Hop on Hop off bus stop is next to the hotel entrance and walking distance to the White House. There are always plenty of taxi outside which we used most of the time.

Room Tip: Choose a higher floor not facing 14th ave since they don't have double pane windows to keep the...

Dear Liza W,

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed the hotel and its surroundings. I would like to extend my most sincere apologies about the internet as we are constantly upgrading the speed in order to keep up with all the devices our guests (and myself) travel with. We will check the pressure of the water in the hotel as you point out it should not be somewhere we choose to save on. Rest assured, we know the importance of guests place on a powerful shower and a comfortable bed. Thank you for your constructive criticism and I wish you and your beloved ones a great rest of the summer.

This has to be one of the best and historical hotels in the DC area. It is a beautiful and ornate hotel with extensive attention to detail. While the hotel itself is older, the rooms are very modern, spacious and offer all of the amenities you would expect from an upscale hotel. It is very close (within walking distance) to all of the sites and the mall. Overall a fantastic stay in a beautiful hotel. Would HIGHLY recommend staying here if visiting DC!

Room Tip: Any room facing the Washington monument, reflecting pool or White House!
