Willard Intercontinental truly has one of the best locations to stay in D.C. as its walking distance from all most of the iconic spots.
Its definitely money well spent, as you are treated like royalty. From the minute you step foot in the hotel you feel like you've entered a different era !
The hotel has gorgeous rooms & the service & hospitality is exceptional.
The only draw back is that it doesnt have a swimming pool.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning an memorable trip to D.C. ( provided the budget isn't a constraint) !!

We stayed at the Willard during a convention in DC in June. It is one of my favorite hotels. There is so much history, charm and classiness here. We were offered an upgrade to a suite which we accepted at what we thought was a fair price. The suite was on two levels which we did not mind. It was a wonderful place to relax during a very hectic week. The bar became a late night hang out for people attending the same convention who were staying in other hotels nearby. It was so much fun getting to meet people in a casual yet elegant setting over rather good 'bar food'. This is definitely a 'treat', but you will feel very special staying here. I was glad that we were leaving 4 July as there was to be a special security check going into place that day. Friends who stayed over the 4th and in fact walked in the parade were fine.

Room Tip: Our higher floor have a wonderful view.

The Willard is a classic. If you love the idea of wrapping yourself in Washington DC history, this hotel's for you. It's pricey, definitely a rare treat, but from the time you step in the door they make you feel like royalty. We were there at Christmas and the hotel was beautifully decorated. It's in a great location for walking almost anywhere. The bar serves wonderful classic drinks. I wish I could afford to stay here every time I visit DC!

Our weekend stay was everything we could have hoped for. Staying in DC during the Christmas holidays was an added bonus. The decorations were lovely, the choral group a surprise and the staff very welcoming. Across the way is the National Mall with the trees, as easy walk. Step outside and the Capitol is seen through the trees decorated with lights. Breakfast, if included, is worth it, ask for the oatmeal - hot and tasty. The wait staff is very professional and very attentive. Hubby was in heaven with the Times and Post both arriving at our room. The room was a nice size and very quiet. The National Theater is a short walk away and we enjoyed The Jersey Boys presentation. The area is very walkable and safe. We took a cab to Kennedy Center and back without difficulty. The only negative would be the size of the lounge on a busy night.

There is nothing bad to say about the Willard. Wonderful staff, wonderful lobby, wonderful rooms.

We were able to get in on a special rate and were able to enjoy the same amenities those paying $500/night enjoyed. Over the holidays the hotel had local groups singing Christmas carols each night. Lovely.
