Loved it Loved it!! We had just left a timeshare with the grandchildren and we (the grandparents) stayed in the Williard, while the kids stayed elsewhere and we met daily. First of all, the lobby is breathe taking, our room was super and perfect size (king bed) and staff was terrific.

It was very clean. We purchased it with the breakfast package which was well worth it. Your choice of buffet or off the menu. The hotel is alongside the treasury building, you can walk 1/2 block and be in front of the White House, across the street from the Mall, and a little bit of a further walk to the museums. It was perfect !
If I had to think of a negative it would be that in the bathroom there was no place to hang a toiletry bag other than the hook behind the door which was for your towel. The sink top was also a bit small with tow of us and toiletries. But I could live with that! If we go back to DC will stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a newly renovated room

The location and decore of the hotel is GREAT!
At the heart of Washington with many attractions and restaurants within walking distance.
The staff was very friendly. Gym was adequate but not more.
Two things that I have to comment about:
a. The room itself and specifically the bathroom are not the newest. Its about time to change the shower head.
b. Why charge $13/day for internet connectivity? For the price charged for the rooms, internet should be complimentrary. Not to mention that while paying the $13/day I can only use a single Wifi device while I have several devices that need a connection with me...

The WIllard Hotel is situated next to the White House, steeped in history, and has served every president since Andrew Jackson. While it has an array of room types and rates, if you are checking TripAdvisor, you are probably like us, looking to stay very comfortably but at an affordable cost. We stayed two nights, first night was at a pre-paid weekend rate of $249. Second night was an Amex special package rate of $379 that offered $100 general food&beverage credit + $40 Breakfast credit. Do the math and you will find it's pretty reasonable for this top-end hotel.

The room was very large and very comfortable. We were on 10th floor. Room was super quiet. Recently renovated, the room and bath were completely up to date. The lobby area is extensive with many comfortable places to sit or stroll around. be sure to find the small history room, it's quite interesting.

Cafe du Parc offers an extensive and high quality breakfast buffet. It was a bit busy, but we were not at all rushed. Weather was pleasant so we sat outside in the courtyard. The Round Robin Bar is very historic and worth visiting, but it s very small and very crowded - you may not find space to sit in the bar itself. Occidental Grill has mixed reviews online but we were not disappointed. But it is expensive, so be prepared. Also, be sure to ask the price of the specials. They will gladly rattle off some wonderful sounding items but neglect to mention that the filet and crab entre is $55 all by itself.

Our ONLY negative comment was that the $100 food & beverage credit did not apply to the Occidental Grill, and we were not informed of this ahead of time. SO BEWARE! The Grill is advertised everywhere in the hotel, website, elevators and rooms, and you can charge your dinner to your room. Yet when we tried to apply our $100 credit, we were informed post-facto that the restaurant is actually "off property" and our credit did not apply. Very uncool as there is absolutely no indication that this is the case.

My only other pet peeve is the absurd charges for wireless internet access at luxury hotels; it is unnecessary gouging. And don't get sticker shock at $48/night parking. Remember, it's all about the location.

All in all, a well informed traveler can enjoy a top quality stay here. I highly recommend becoming informed, planning properly and enjoying the historic luxury the Willard has to offer.

My son and I stayed at the Willard to celebrate his 18th Birthday and I could not thank them enough for everything - an upgrade to a lovely suite, Birthday cake, chocolates and fizz. They certainly made him feel very special.

A lovely hotel and perfectly situated for visiting all the sites in Washington DC.

We certainly loved it and will be back someday!!

My wife and I stayed at the hotel over the July 4th weekend to be close to the DC festivities without having to deal with the headache of local travel. While I can say that the hotel is one of the closest to the mall and is in a great location for the 4th of July activities, that is about all I feel the hotel offers. The dining options at the hotel are very limited and the service is extremely underwhelming.

The first night of our stay we had dinner at the Cafe du Parc and it was disappointing to say the least. Our server seemed very rushed and was not attentive in any way. The only time we spoke with our server was to place the order, to clear the table, and to deliver the bill. A different server dropped off our food but when I realized my meal was luke warm our server was nowhere to be found to explain the problem. Shortly after the food was dropped off we decided to order a bottle of wine. We flagged down another server to get a wine menu but were never able to speak with our server to place the order. Nonetheless there was no wine with that meal. When clearing the table I handed the wine menu to our server and there was no question as to why we had a wine menu but no wine. Again, lack of attention to detail. After the dining experience we left the hotel and walked to a nearby hotel (where we typically stay for the 4th) and had a few drinks. The service at this bar was night and day different and at that point I realized I should have stayed where we usually do.

The next night (after the previous night's fiasco) we decided to give the bar (Round Robin and Scotch Bar) a shot. Once again the service was subpar, the staff was inattentive, and the drinks were mediocre to say the least.

To be fair, we ordered room service for breakfast each day and the food was delivered on time and was quite good. So not all is bad, just don't leave your room ;)

Another thing I feel that I should mention is the historical aspect of the hotel. This is a hotel with a very interesting history that should not be overlooked. If you are fascinated by history this hotel should be given strong consideration, just know that times appear to have changed and you may not receive the same level of service that probably made this a prominent hotel throughout Washington DC in the past.

Overall I rate this experience as a disappointment and we will not be returning in the future. My suggestion is to look around for other local hotels in this same price point. In my opinion better options can be found only a few short blocks away. Bonsoir!

My husband and I have stayed here twice for special occasions and both times were treated like royalty by the Willard staff. For our 10 year anniversary they comped champagne and chocolate strawberries in our upgraded room - beyond our expectations, but made our visit something extraordinary. The entire staff from bellman to valet to front desk were helpful, friendly and professional. For a sublime visit to DC, the Willard is the place to stay.

We enjoyed fantastic service at check in and check out. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The fitness center is incredible! Really don't have anything but good to say about this hotel. The location is perfect for sightseeing in Washington DC. We plan to visit again. The history of the building is also fascinating.
