Washington Court Hotel on Capitol Hill
Ranked #93 of 141 Hotels in Washington DC

We've stayed at the Hyatt and the Liaison in this immediate area and like the Washington Court Hotel best. The room was larger, the location is closer to the Union Station Metro stop, and is still centrally located. Our room was clean and the service we received was excellent. The front desk staff was friendly and very helpful. When I had difficulty with a booking on the Orange Trolley, the front desk clerk went the extra mile and offered me his personal e-mail account to see if sending my confirmation there would work. It seems no request was too much for the staff. I would stay here again as my first choice.

I bought a groupon for this hotel for only $89, but it was a huge mistake because I could have stayed at a much nicer hotel in a better location also near the Capitol (where I stayed for my first night in DC) for only $10 more. This is an old hotel that has been partially renovated. Everything (including lobby and guestrooms) seems a little dirty and worn -- they need to fully renovate, buy new furniture and improve their housekeeping practices. The lobby was huge and had lots of seating areas but the carpet really needed to be vacuumed. Valet parking (no self parking) cost around $50 for the day. Location is good only if you are arriving by train and/or need easy access to Union Station and just need a place to sleep because there are few restaurants in the vicinity, although the Capitol is a fairly short walk. My friend, who lives and works in the DC area, was baffled by why I would stay at a hotel in this location. Note that you can avoid walking around the block to get to Union Station if you exit the unmarked door to the Quiznos at the back of the hotel lobby -- this saves time but raises security concerns since anyone who enters the Quiznos has access to the hotel lobby, elevators and guest room floors. There is a fire station down the street, and I was awaken several times during the night by sirens. The guest room was fairly large, but I was really disappointed by the how unclean and poorly maintained it seemed. There were water stains all over the bathroom floor, large areas of discolored grout between the shower tiles, and the shower water temperature knob was coming out of the tile on the wall. Also, the coffee pot was located almost directly across from the toilet -- disgusting! However, the front desk clerk when we checked-in (the person who originally handled my reservation over the phone was very confused), doorman, bellhop and valet were extraordinarily nice, friendly and helpful.

Last minute road trip (via train) to Washington DC for a weekend. Being from Australia I had no idea where I was going or what to book. I found a great website, Bookit.com when I came across this lovely Hotel at an amazingly good rate. The hotel was central to everything I wanted to see and walking distance from Union Station.
Beautiful entry, very friendly and helpful staff at the front desk, he was more than happy to give me directions. The air-conditioned room was nice, a comfortable huge king bed and a nice hot shower to refresh at the end of a very long day sight-seeing.
This Hotel was a bonus and I do recommend it.

Washington court hotel in Washington, D.C. : Air condition did not work, no hot water, bad service. No open windows. We won't come back again. The location is quite good, but that's the only good thing to say.

Tucked away on a quiet block on New Jersey Ave NW in Capitol Hill sits the washington Court Hotel. The newly renovated lobby and rooms rival some of the better chain hotels. However, the price of a room for a weeknight may surprise you. We were able to secure a Groupon rate of $89 but the regular rate would have only been $120. The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly. Our bartender, Josh, was especially entertaining. The hotel is a short walk to the Capitol and Union Station. My only criticism is the breakfast buffet. The price is steep and the selection limited. They need to address this or more people will be heading across NJ Ave to the Billy Goat where you can get a hearty breakfast for $5 like we did. We will definitely be going back.

We recently took a family trip to DC for 5 days. We booked this hotel thru Snique Away and it turned out to be a great deal! It was located only 2 blocks from Union Station which is where we caught the Old Towne Trolley Tour each day and there were numerous places to eat and shop. Down the street from the hotel is a place called West Wing Cafe' which I will review in another review- but it was great. The hotel seems to be an older hotel, but they have brought the lobby up to a modern look and the rooms as well. I noticed a few little things in the hotel room such as trim work, etc that shows some dating- but the colors, beds, desk, tv, etc are all updated and very nice. Rooms smell fresh, were spacious and were perfect for us. There are several other small places to eat around the hotel. A few Irish pubs, Quiznos and a few sandwich shops to get breakfast or lunch. We got the room for $99/night. There is a small one cup coffee maker in the room, but no free internet (except lobby) and no free breakfast. Even with that- lots to choose from within walking distance of the hotel. We would recommend this hotel for the money and stay there again based on value compared to other hotels in the area.

Room Tip: There are rooms with a perfect view of the capital building- request one! Especially if the hotel is...

Stayed here for one night on a road trip down the east coast. Got a great deal on bookit and it seemed a bit too good to be true based on the prices of other hotels in the area. The hotel iolder but was beautifully decorated and clean. It is located only a few blocks from the capital and some rooms have a view of the capital (sadly ours didnt). Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable and had free wi-fi. If you have a car, the parking fee is insane. We read the reviews on trip advisor before staying, so we knew about the parking at Union Station a few blocks down for half price (22 for the night) and took advantage of that. Even if you check out in the morning, they will store your luggage for free if you want to walk around and sight-see some more before heading out. Would def stay here again!
