“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

My family and I stayed at this hotel. It is in a great location but our stay was spoilt the minute we arrived at the hotel. We were driving a big econoline van and we were told there was no parking space for the vehicle because of the size. we had to drive around a strange place trying to find parking. This is a high end hotel so that is not acceptable. we then had to deal with an arrogant valet parker who was incredibly rude!!! This really spoilt our stay. The hotel should teach the guy to be polite as it is his job to do so. We would not stay there again because of the attitude. The hotel was very nice though.

Thank you for your review. While we are happy to hear your experience overall was enjoyable, we regret we were unable to accommodate your vehicle. We sincerely apologize for the way the situation was handled and our valet department will review and improve our process for larger vans. Your feedback is extremely important to us and we appreciate you taking the time to contact us. We look forward to welcoming you back to Loews Madison Hotel.

My wife and I stayed at the Loews, along with a friend in another room, for 3 nights in June 2013. We came to tour the area, see the main sites and museums and do some shopping and eating. The Loews was a good choice for that although perhaps a bit light on the variety of nearby eating options.

We arrived early (around noon) and had no problems checking in early. The front desk staff was polite and largely efficient (except when a thundershower came along and umbrellas couldn't be located for 10 minutes, the umbrellas having disappeared from our rooms where they should have been).

The rooms are well sized and in good condition. I understand renos were done not too long ago. The only semi-con, if i'm being picky, is that the AC unit was a bit loud but I'm glad it had AC that was effective in the summer heat. The gym is not large but does have nice free weights, a couple of treadmills and a few pieces of equipment.

The hotel is within a short walk to the White House, museums and National Mall. However, after walking for hours touring around and in the sweltering heat, we found it convenient and worthwhile to take a cab back to the hotel (taxis are so much cheaper than our home in Vancouver). Lots of cabs around.

The immediate surrounding area itself is largely business so there's not a huge night vibe, shopping nor variety of places to eat. There is, however, a pharmacy/convenience store about a block away, which was useful. And a Starbucks and two other coffee shops.

For eating I'd suggest going to Georgetown - a short cab ride away - or DuPont Circle. And you'll find the best shopping in Georgetown.

The Loews is a good place to stay taking price, location and comfort level into account. I'd recommend it to friends and family.

The Loews Madison Hotel in Washington, DC is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at, and I travel a lot for work. We used it is our wedding "host hotel," and everything was perfect! All of our guests loved it. The service was impecable and the rooms are fabulous.

This is a classy hotel, with nice decor throughout. Very welcoming staff (German is great in reception) and clean and modern rooms. Location is also good, walking distance from many restaurant and some of the sights in town. I would like to try other hotels in DC, but this one sets a decent standard for them all.

The personalized service and attentiveness to the kids was awesome. Our kids felt like they were royalty! Girls will definitely remember this trip. Staff was outstanding. This hotel has been the same (service and quality) ever since we first visited 14 years ago. That is why we come back to it.
Special Thanks to David Wyant.

We stayed at the Loew's Madison and were quite happy with it. Thought at first that parking was going to be a hassle, as there is no place to park on the street and we arrived at the busiest time. But the valets took our cars and handled everything very quickly. The staff was particularly friendly and pleasant throughout the hotel. Everyone made a point to speak and smile. I had a lovely breakfast in the restaurant. Really good coffee and the fruit was fresh and sweet. Our dinner was a banquet with the other conference attendees and was surprisingly good. The service was perfect-quick and efficient and the food was quite delicious.
Our room had every convenience and was beautifully decorated. The bathroom had lots of space to lay out our toiletries and several bars to hang the towels on-nice! Beds were very comfortable and altho we didn't have much of a view, it was not a concern. The location was great. Close to everything but no major traffic issues or noise. Nice area to walk through.I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite for a little more. Our friends did and had the extra room with sofa, chairs, tv...

I reserved a deluxe king room. The room I was given, room 337, is by no means a king room. The bed can barely be described as a queen bed. We were so exhausted the first two nights here that I could not bother with complaining. I did ask about it on the third night and they were puzzled as to why the room does not not have a king bed. We were offered a different room but it was so late we decided that we didn't feel like moving. They also offered an amenity. However they dib not say what that would be and nothing was forthcoming. I have stayed at other Loews hotels in Atlanta and the Porto Fino in Orlando and found them wonderful and comfortable hotels. Everything else about the Madison in DC is good. The people are all very nice and the service is excellent. But, next trip here I will pick a different hotel.
