“Great except for the noise”
Reviewed January 21, 2012

I stayed on business and the hotel was very clean and quite comfortable. The staff was also very accommodating and helpful, and the restaurant was actually quite good. My only complaint would be the noise during the day from the renovations going on, so if you plan on being in the room during the day I would give this place a pass until the renovations are complete.

I loved my stay at the Madison Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C. All of the staff: Tony, Arturo, Saul, Juan, Thanya, and Bismarck went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and enjoy my stay. They made the place! The food was great as were the rooms and lobby. Thank you.

I spent 13 nights at the Madison in early January and found it an excellent place to stay. Service at every level was excellent the room was comfortable and the location Is terrific for business or sight seeing. There are some great restauarants within a couple of blocks and even though renovations were going on the fitness room was more than adequate with weights running machines a bike etc. The renovations did not bother me at all. I experienced no noise though there were water shutoffs these were during the week when I was working but may have inconvenienced travelers who neded to be showered by 10am on the days water was off
A recommended hotel.

The Madison is very well located for business travelers and tourists who want to be close to downtown DC. It's close to the National Mall and all the big international organizations. It's also a nice walkable distance from Dupont Circle and the U Street corridor. The bedroom has a comfortable size, very clean, and elegantly decorated. For me, the best part of it all was the super comfortable bed! The bathroom was also comfortable and always impeccable. The downside: we were charged USD 9 for a bottle of water from the mini-bar.

The room is fine, with all the amenities including free internet.
Close to everywhere, we were able to walk to the museums, White House and Dupont Circle.
Yes, they are under renovations and there is noise early in the morning.
The most precious of The Madison is the staff: all very polite and kind, ready to help.

The Madison Hotel welcomes you with a Doorman that greets you and helps you with your luggage as you enter the Hotel. Concierge process their visitors effectively. This Hotel have an old classic and modern feel to it. Our room was clean and it faces onto another building (side road). I noticed that the curtains does not close, so there is hardly any privacy at night. So I grabbed those huge decorative pillows from the bed and the couch, and propped them along the window sill to have a bit of privacy. Mind you, this is the location of a/c vent is also.

When you exit the Hotel and head left (South), there is a TD bank (Opens on a Saturday.) and Subway Sandwich down the road. Potbelly Sandwich Shop is further South. A great place for breakfast and lunch. If you walk towards the Marriott Hotel, there is a Walgreens there for all of your basic needs.

We came from Union Station, so we took the Metro (subway) from Union Station and exited at Farragut North. You can walk from here. It is a bit of a distance, but not too far away of a walk. You can rent a vehicle and park on the street for free during the weekends at night time only. Please check the signs. I just remember that all the parking lots in the area closes during the weekend at nights. Of course, Madison Hotel's parking lot is always open.

The White House and all of the major attractions are about 10 minutes plus away from this Hotel. Definitely need to wear comfortable shoes. You will be doing a lot of walking in general. Have fun!!!

My mother and I stayed here and were treated like royalty. As soon as I had made the reservation and asked for early check in, we were immediately contacted by phone on a Saturday by the amazing Sylvia who ensured all our needs were met. She continued the support via email connecting us with various options to travel to and from Dulles airport. Upon arrival we were greeted by the competent and pleasant doormen and reception staff. ALL staff made us feel welcome including the pleasant cleaning and kitchen staff. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel location is convenient without being too touristy. As with many hotels, they are under renovation but we did not hear any noise until Monday which was fine with us. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
