“Perfect Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2012

We stayed at The Jefferson with my parents and our 3 year old daughter. Upon check in, they brought out a radio flyer filled with some toys for my daughter to choose from, which was such a nice welcoming. We learned that a rollaway bed wouldn't fit in the standard size room and would have to pay for an upgrade. The upgrade didn't cost much so I wasn't too upset. We were then provided a thorough tour of the hotel by Bob, who was so helpful and attentive. My parents room was the Standard size, and I must say I probably wouldn't have been as happy with our stay if we were in the Standard sized room, Definitely way too small. Shortly after we were shown our upgraded room and it was fantastic. The bathrooms are beautiful and the vaulted ceilings were a nice touch. Overall, great service. The hotel is small and the staff make you feel so welcome. The hotel has such a personal feel compared to others. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for somewhere special to stay.

An absolutely brilliant hotel. From the moment you arrive, you feel welcome and looked after. The building itself is stunning and oozes charm and quality. The rooms are a little small, but entirely adequate, impeccably clean and very well appointed with big bathroom (complete with tv built in to mirror). All staff were very helpful, and I especially enjoyed the bespoke welcome snack. One thing to be aware of - they don't provide an ironing board but for $11 will iron a shirt for you.

Lovely hotel with great calm gracious service. So civilized!

It's pricey, no doubt. But it is a lovely experience. All of the staff are courteous, helpful, and charming. Original Jefferson documents in the lobby. Gorgeous public rooms.

Guest room was on small side, but perfectly adequate. TV in the bathroom mirror-how cool is that?

Nice little amenities like an office kit in drawer (scissors, stapler, etc.)

New York Times delivered in the morning.

Turn-down service is lovely. They lay the slippers out for you.

Room service is very good-but also pricey.

Really nice benefit--the use of a free town car and driver if you are a guest.

Oddly missing in-room coffee maker. There are coffee and muffins in the lobby.

On fifth floor, wireless internet signal was poor. But they had wired option and had ethernet cable available.

Everything in this hotel works for the guests. The check in is easy, the rooms are very comfortable and the staff attentive but not overly so.

This is by far the best Hotel in DC.

Well done Jefferson.

I have stayed at the Jefferson many times, both before and after the extensive remodeling. One of the best parts of the hotel was a cozy bar, which has been expanded, but which is still very nice. However, on two recent visits, I have found waitstaff in the bar to be surly, slow and in accommodating.

Mixed drinks are well made and generous, but liqueur pours are embarrassingly stingy. It's a black eye for an otherwise perfect hotel.

My partner and I just got married here, in their book book, and stayed the night in a huge suite. This hotel really could not have been any better, service great. Rooms are top notch. This hotel ranks at number one or two that we have stayed at in the world.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite! Worth having the living room!

The brides favorite memorial is the Jefferson memorial in DC, her favorite historical figure is Jefferson himself, her fiance proposed to her at the Jefferson Memorial. So it made perfect sense that they get married at the Jefferson Hotel in DC. It is elegant, clean and beautiful. However dealing with their catering and conference services manager was a nightmare. She was very difficult to work with, unprofessional and made us all feel so unwelcome. It was as if she was purposefully trying to be difficult. It literally was a nightmare dealing with her. Two days before the wedding we had to actually request to work with someone else and speak to her upper management- and these individuals were great. We would have had a better experience if from the beginning we were working with these individuals other than her. Each one of us , wedding planner, maid of honor, mom of the bride, bride, and groom were appalled that someone like this actually worked at the Jefferson. Unfortunately she left a really bad image in our minds and made this experience a nightmare. Per her(catering and conference services manager) recommendation the bride and groom also regretfully agreed to have their wedding cake made by the Jefferson chef - it was awful and expensive. No one ate it! The bride and groom wanted to save the top layer but ended up discarding it. We asked for a cake tasting before we decided to go with them- they wanted to charge us 80 dollars- this was for just one flavor. We were not tasting a bunch of different flavors it was one specific flavor.
The bride and groom were looking forward to making a tradition at the Jefferson by staying at the hotel on their anniversary weekend and Valentines day weekend- they will not be returning. Even though everyone else was nice, welcoming and their room was great she really ruined it. If the only way to have a wedding at the Jefferson is through her (their current catering and conference services manager) I would not recommend this place. It's really unfortunate because it's a beautiful venue for a small intimate wedding.

Dear Laura b,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about Lina and Adam's wedding. I would like to once again apologize for the frustrations that they encountered in planning their intimate wedding, as I realize how special this event was for them. I have personally been in contact with their wedding planner and will do my utmost to regain their faith in our property and the excellent service that they should always expect.

Sincerely,

Robert Jenny
