“Makes staying in DC easy”
Reviewed April 24, 2011

The Jefferson was a fantastic place to stay with very well-done renovations. It had all of the moden conveniences without losing the historic touch of the building itself. Located within walking distance to the monuments and White House, it was a perfect location for my business trip. Good shopping nearby as well. What separated the hotel from competition were two departments. 1. Bellman - Perfectly on-point and professional, quick to hail a cab and assist with bags - remembered me by name consistently. 2. Turn-down service, while sometimes can be just "going through the motions" in many hotels, the Jefferson staff nailed this, a pleasant way to return to the room after dinner, no stress of getting back to an unkempt room when you are on a tight schedule. The quaint bar off the lobby was great for cocktails, bartender very sharp. Did not get to enjoy the food offerings but I'm sure if the other elemnts of the stay were of any indication, they're wonderful as well.

WOW, this hotel delivers on all points! A wonderful staff, friendly and attentive to all your needs, from check in to check out-- offering amenities from the most comfortable bed ever to the little tv screen in the bathroom mirror. How cool is that! Tastefully decorated and adorned with period furnishings, I found this hotel a charming as a visit to Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. Great location to all destinations DC has to offer!

Try Floriana's for great Italian food and Hank's Oyster Bar, both on 17th Street North of the Hotel. They will not dissapoint!

I like to stay in high end, luxury type hotels when possible and always look for the best value I can find when planning a trip. This hotel had a reasonable rate and had such good reviews on this site I was sure it would be great. There is nothing wrong with hotel, the decor is lovely, it is boutique style, the room was nicely decorated although a little on the small side, the bathroom was great, loved the walk in shower. The room we had was a connecting room and we could hear our neighbours tv, alarm etc going off which I found annoying . Where this hotel lacks for me is the atmosphere, it is too stuffy and I didn't find it a relaxed place to be as a tourist, at 30 years of age we felt like the youngest guests there, it appeared to have an older business type clientele. Overall I just didn't like this hotel enough to want to go back, location was ok, you could walk to the sights but it was in a quiet area with not alot of food places in the direct vicinity. I don't think I would recommend this to my friends but maybe if you are older perhaps you would enjoy it more than we did.

We have stayed at some very lovely hotels and The Jefferson is among our top five. Everything was perfect. Fresh coffee and warm muffins in the lobby alcove each morning, hotel filtered water in our room daily, wonderful Porthault sheets, tv imbedded in the bathroom mirror. This hotel was luxurious at a fair price.

Room Tip: Spend a few extra dollars for a deluxe room.

Excellent location. Only four blocks from The White House. Welcoming, attentive, yet not overbearing staff, and warm, inviting "old world" botique ambiance throughout. The Quill lounge is the perfect spot to enjoy lunch or an evening cocktail before retiring to an incredibly comfortable bed.
Thanks to Marianne at reception, Steve at the Quill bar, the doorman and the entire bell staff, and especially Chris our concierge, we felt more like we were staying with friends, or at a small B&B, rather than in a hotel right in the middle of everything one visits Washington, D.C. for.
Future visits to D.C will certainly find us at The Jefferson!

I stayed in the Jefferson for 4 nights in March 2011, I cannot fault the hotel. From the front door of the hotel, you can see the White House, 4 blocks away. The location is`great, great food and the bar is cool.
Staff are great, customer service is obviously very important.
Washington is a great city, probably recommend about 5 days to see everything.

The Jefferson had a 60mm renovation a couple of years ago and they did a magnificent job. Rooms are very well appointed to the point of a tv imbedded in the bathroom mirror. Everyone at the hotel was warm and friendly, the service was quite outstanding! Would highly recommend!
