“Fun, comfortable and welcoming to all.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2014 via mobile

Perfect location in the heart of trendy DuPont Circle. Easy walk to 100's of stores, restaurants, bars and just blocks from a Metro Station.
The staff was super friendly and accommodating from the minute we got there.
My partner and I got married and the staff seemed as excited as us. They sent up champagne and chocolates that night and made us feel very special.
Large room, super comfortable bed and very nicely decorated.
The only thing I would warn about is a very small toilet and shower area. I was ok with it because I'm pretty small but a larger person would find it a tight fit. But the mirror and dressing area are very large.
I would highly recommend it to anyone.

There are a huge amount of hotels in dc and i think this hotel is a good fit for a lot of people. It is not too big, very cosy and at a good location in dupont circle. Add a very nice brunch place as firefly to this and you know you have a good combination.
Rooms are decent, service is good. I will probably try this hotel again.

5* hotel, every member of staff was amazing and went out of their way to help you. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are well decorated. We were a family of 5 and the rooms fit us all in plus luggage and we still had lots of space. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Dear fayelw25,

We are happy to see you enjoyed our 5* staff and the new renovations to the hotel. Also sounds like you and your family really liked our large executive rooms. Hopefully you all took advantage of the in room yoga studio. If not I guess we will be seeing you soon. Cheers :)

This was our first time in DC at the Madera, and it was fantastic! We chose this hotel for its location and trendy, comfy room decor. Our 2 queen beds room was very spacious and well maintained. As a family of four, we had plenty of room and were very comfortable. Our biggest surprise at this hotel was seeing four sets of towels prepared for our arrival. Typically, at other hotels we'd only be given three even though four people registered for the room. So, this attention to detail speaks volumes to us.

Staff members at the hotel are always pleasant and friendly. The atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy. During a rainy day, a front desk staff member provided us with an umbrella before we left. Service at this hotel is exceptional.

There are lots of restaurants nearby and places to visit within walking distance. With the Metro about 2 blocks away, transportation is easily accessible. Since we enjoy taking walks, we leisurely strolled to Lincoln Memorial and other national monuments within 25 minutes from the hotel.

Our stay at the Madera was very relaxing and enjoyable.

There are hundreds of hotels in DC from which to chose from but the Madera was a perfect fit for us!
We traveled with our 5 year old son and we all were made to feel very welcomed.
The great location in DuPont Circle was quiet and a short few block walk to the metro (red line).
The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean, with a modern vibe.
The bathroom was small, which my husband complained about, but it was perfectly fine for my son and me. Lol. It was clean and water pressure was great.
They provided an animal print robe for my son, which he loved, and a gold fish to keep him company. A great touch for kids!
I would say the hands down, best part of the hotel, was the friendly and warm staff!
Nicole, at the front desk when we checked in, was just the very best that we've encountered anywhere in our travels. She was warm and pleasant. She remembered our names every time she saw us and also always had a smile on her face. Kelvin, the valet, was also great. I seemed to have forgotten several things in our car and he always helped out and didn't act put out or aggravated. There was also a maintenance man (maybe in charge of? He was older with glasses, if you're reading this management!) that we ran into several times and he was always very friendly and made a point of talking baseball (orioles!) with my son.
Since the staff is this great then that leads me to believe that The Madera is doing a lot right!
Yes, the hotel has more of a "boutique" feel which is fantastic compared to huge, sterile hotel chains.
I would definitely recommend The Madera to others and plan to stay again myself.

BorderCollieLover..We love you! Your lovely family touched all of our hearts while you stayed with us. Sometimes it really is the little things such as our fun robes and goldfish that make us memorable. We are so happy you enjoyed our rooms and location. Nicole and Kelvin truly enjoyed taking care of your family and I really appreciate you recognizing them. Jeryl the engineer is a big sports fan and loves talking sports with our guests. I agree it's all about the people that work here. Thanks for your fabulous feedback! Please please come visit again! John Esainko, General Manager

My husband loves this hotel, and decided it would be a perfect base from which we could explore Washington and visit with our adult children. The room was huge, and extremely quiet... we were on the 10th floor facing the Cathedral. While the view looking straight down on the back alley and garbage cans was not especially attractive, the vista across to the Cathedral was great. Bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom/toilet/shower area, while divided in a somewhat strange way, was functional. The whole hotel had a nice air about it; staff was highly responsive and friendly - our request for extra towels was taken care of in less than 10 minutes. The hotel restaurant (Firefly) has excellent food and the best "morning hotel" coffee we've had in a long time. Our daughter now lives in DC, and we are planning to make Madera our base for future visits. Since we are members of the Kimpton rewards program, our internet was free; we got free parking as well through a room deal, making the stay extremely reasonable, as well as enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this small hotel which was near practically everything. The bed was one of the best beds I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in at a hotel. Getting to the hotel is a cinch since it is just a few blocks from the metro. In addition, at the time of my stay, this was one of the least expensive hotels in the area, making it without a doubt the best value in the area.
