“Nice hotel, great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 13, 2013

We had a good stay here for 3 nights. Comfortable and clean rooms, but no view. Friendly staff. The location is perfect, within walking distance to Georgetown and subways. Easy to get to Arlington, White House, and museums.

Free wifi in the lobby but not in rooms. The lobby features two desktop computer for free use. The gym located in the basement is small but okay.

We wanted a meal at the bar 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. It was possible, but not without what we regarded as rude comments from staff. We understand it is annoying that we came in so late, but you should not let your guests notice it. Anyway, the food tasted great, compliments to the kitchen!

All in all we had a pleasant stay, we would come again if the opportunity arises.

Very picky about where we stay therefore I do a whole lot of research before booking. Found this one and at first the price caught my eye but after looking further into reviews, pictures and location I immediately booked. When we arrived the entrance was a little tight and difficult but it does not take away from the experience we had. We were immediately greeted by the valet. The front desk was very friendly and accommodating meeting our request to have two adjoining rooms (we traveled with another couple). Club lounge service was superb and the lady in there was very nice. Rooms were very comfy, A/C was working and the bathroom was clean and that's all that mattered from this point. Couldn't believe how close it was walking distance to the White House and Monuments. Didn't have to worry about parking. Even if you did not want to walk all that much the Train station dropped us off close to and from the hotel as well! All in all great hotel, great price, great location, great staff, great stay!

As many reviewers have said and I can further confirm, the location of this hotel is great for so many areas of DC, whether you are going to Georgetown area and the waterfront or the White House or the museums, it's very accessible to them all. But I was really impressed by management, which went above and beyond the call to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. They make sure to reward Elite members, which is very important and keeps me coming back. Rooms were clean, beautiful decor, quality breakfast, nice lounge area, and a helpful concierge. All in all a great hotel, and what makes it even better is the price point, very affordable.

Room Tip: High Floor seems to usually work well for me.

Four of us stayed here the weekend before the 4th of July celebrations and were very pleased with the rooms, service and location. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Close to the Metro and also wonderful local restaurants and stores (Trader Joe's - WOO HOO!).

There is no doubt in my mind that the staff in this hotel is not only trained but truly believe they can help and assist with any request from a guest. I found the service at this hotel to be wonderful. They are cheerful, they understand they deal with both tourists and business clientele with a smile throughout the day. You are a short 12 minute walk from the Foggy Bottom metro station...plenty of cabs around if you don't want to deal with the metro.

They have a very nice local bar with decent service (it could be better.) The coffee shop next door is nice as well. Plenty of food options on M street a short walk away. Across the street there is a nice Chinese restaurant.

Rooms are spacious, good showers, nice desk for getting work done but don't expect great views from many of the rooms. Beds are wonderful. Rooms are quiet and you will get wonderful night of sleep.

Great hotel. I will stay here whenever I am in DC.

On the first night of our stay at this hotel we discovered that anyone could enter our hotel room without the key (for obvious reasons won’t specifically state here how this was discovered/accomplished). Upon heading out for the evening we reported the issue to a couple of front desk workers that didn’t seem all that concerned about our claim. Upon our return from an evening out we were still able to get into the room with no key. We filed a second request to have it looked at and we were told it would be taken care of the following morning.

Upon leaving the next afternoon we stopped to confirm that someone was going to take care of it (third request) and we were assured maintenance would be taking care of it. Upon on return that evening it was still not fixed and we again asked it be looked at (fourth request). We got back that evening and it was still not fixed, and we again dealt with non-committed and non-caring front desk staff. At this point we asked for a manager on duty. She stated maintenance could not fix the issue given the current time and we would have to split into two different rooms until the morning. This implied maintenance had never looked at it, so their lack of concern with security was apparent here.

The manager did take care of us for the inconvenience and she promised that maintenance would take care of the issue the following morning. Maintenance did show up in the A.M. – early than expected and no apology for what was taking place. He wound up having to replace the entire locking mechanism to the room.

The hotel location is fine and there is a great coffee shop in the hotel, but cannot recommended this property due to the severity of the situation and the lackadaisical attitude of the staff (with exception of the MOD we dealt with).

Capitalizing on location, it was unfortunately disappointing. Location was prime, easy to get to all the high points: memorials and museums, esp. the Smithsonian, War memorials, etc. Check-in was professional, and the front lobby was remarkably attractive, amazing polished floors and modern decor attractively appointed. Then the disappointing charges ($4 for bottled water in the room), lengthy installation of thermostat in our rooms on first entry, 'secure' safe in a drawer, and lackadaisical restocking of shampoo and stuff. The room furniture was very evidently worn, and so were the carpets. The door to the tight bathroom was so annoyingly placed, as one other put it "It is a 1 person at a time bathroom." Despite it being " 4 Star" would think twice in coming back.

Hi Jon181793,
Thank you for the candid feedback. I'm glad that you enjoyed the location as there is so much to offer right outside of our doorstep. I am sorry to see that there were some things that detracted from your experience. We are constantly looking at ways to improve. There is a charge for the water bottles placed in the room, however if you do stay with us again feel free to try some of the delicious fruit infused water served complimentary in the lobby during these hot summer months. As for the room deficiencies, any specific feedback that you could give me such as the room number and the time you stayed with us would be so helpful to address these issues. Thank you. Feel free to reach out to me if you do decide to stay with us again. Mike Horowitz, Rooms Operations Manager, 202-498-4873.
