I chose this hotel for its relatively low cost during appropriations season when rates around the District are very high, but I would choose it again quite aside from cost. This is a very pleasant place to stay. It's located in a residential area of small, 2-story row-houses. There's a Whole Foods 2 blocks away and there are a few very good restaurants at various price points nearby. The building is brick, designed to be "modern" in the 1950s, in a good way. Bathroom fixtures are original but well maintained. The rooms are large, include a small kitchen, and have wall-to-wall double-pane windows with good shades so the rooms are bright, or dark, as you wish. Lighting is good. The beds are comfortable, climate control works well, the building is solid so very little noise gets in, and it smells good. Desk and dresser are roomy and in good condition, and there's a good desk chair where you can actually work. The restaurant downstairs is very pleasant and comfortable. They greeted me with a glass of wine when I arrived, staff were all friendly, and the place is classy without being pretentious.
