“Washington Plaza Hotel”
Reviewed May 5, 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Washington Plaza Hotel. It was within walking distance of the metro, Ford's Theater, and White House. The rooms were clean and well kept. We had a breakfast buffet added onto our stay and thoroughly enjoyed the selection of food at the buffet. We found the staff to be very friendly and quick to help us out with whatever we needed. The cost was very affordable, especially for being in DC, and we felt that we got a great stay out of it.

We checked in late and were able to get room service, so we were already pretty pleased with the hotel but things got better. The room was huge as was the bathroom. There was a great ledge under the window where we sat and ate our room service while taking in the view. The staff were friendly too.

Best bit: The size of the room
Worst bit: Nothing

Stayed here on business. Very spacious rooms and great layout. Emergency vehicle sirens late at night were a bit loud (on the 5th floor) but generally a very good hotel. Good staff, friendly and helpful. Location is excellent. Didn't use the restaurant during my stay. Will definitely stay there again.

The hotel is clean and modern with an extremely helpful staff. We needed a roll away which the hotel does not have. The guest representative gave us a free upgrade to a more spacious room and offered to move a sofa to the new room. After the front desk helped us choose a restaurant to deliver our dinner housekeeping brought us water up without us even asking. I would stay here again and plan to!

Got a great package deal online to stay at the plaza. I was traveling with my Mom and we shared a small room with a queen sized bed. Perfect size for 1-2 people, with a decent size bathroom. Shower stall (no tub), which worked well for us. We didn't require a large, fancy room since we were out sightseeing a majority of our time there. Our room also included a programmable safe and mini-fridge. One small, but nice, amenity was the complimentary bottles of water provided in the evening. After a day of sight-seeing this was a pleasant item to have provided. Wi-Fi is spotty, but free, so I can't complain as we weren't there on business or in need of a stable connection. An ethernet plug-in is also provided on the desk. Plug-ins are situated at desk/nightstand level. So no crawling around on the floor to charge my cell phone. Again, a small but wonderful detail if you are a traveler who has ever had to search for hotel room plug-ins. Location to sights and Metro is excellent. The surrounding block currently includes a West Wing Cafe across the street (wonderful for quick eats and breakfast), 24-hr CVS, and a few restaurants. More places to eat are available a block or two away. I didn't use the concierge service, so I can not vouch for that. Some of the staff seemed more friendly, while others were a bit bristly. Overall it was a great experience for the money, and I would recommend the Plaza to budget travelers looking to stay in downtown D.C.

Room Tip: Single bed rooms are smaller, and best for adult solo travelers or pairs of people.

Clean room, friendly service, reasonable parking fees, convenient location, quiet room, rates very reasonable, comfortable bed.
The Plaza is a few blocks from the Whire House. Many restaurants within 10 min walk (Georgia Brown, Churchkey, Casa Luca, The Pig).

My friends and I were looking for a hotel in DC during April. We didn't realize how hard it is to find a nice hotel during Cherry Blossom season! We booked our rooms and we pleasantly surprised! I have been a hotelier for over ten years, so you can imagine how critical and picky I can be when staying at any hotel. Many hotels now a days lack the customer service and staff presence that make guest feel so welcome. The bell staff welcomed us before we reached the door and even opened our doors and helped us with our luggage. The front desk staff were Amazing! You rarely see many people greeting and or behind the desk greeting guests. As many times as we entered and left the hotel we were greeted with a warm hello every time! The rooms were large, clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable!!! But, my absolute favorite part of out stay was their hidden gem of a restaurant. We ended up eating there almost every night! Their executive chef Luca De Marchis, who opened the Padella Restaurant at The Westin in Dulles, did amazing job. He came out to greet our party and explained the authentic Northern Italian dishes! They even hand make their pasta everyday! Truly awesome meal! And to top it all off we went to their brand new Sunday Brunch!!! Hello D.C., you should be here every Sunday! The pricing is incredible and there is so much good! You get bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's ! They have so many options. Everything from kale and cashew salad, smoked salmon, smoked trout, Italian sausage and polenta, hummus, artichoke dip, an insane omelette station, pork belly, beef, roasted bone marrow, chicken, ham, and pork and my favorite the fresh pasta bar. They even have passed plates of beignets, mini pancakes, and yummy mini Reuben sandwiches. Really awesome find!!! And an excellent example for a passionate and customer oriented hotel! Seriously you need to try their brunch!!
